PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 8 round up

“Congrats Paddy, you’ve passed your final audition…”

Oh Yeah:

Sorry, yes, I know, i’m very late this week so i’ll cut to the chase…

Only eight punters scored 30 points or more this week so it was tight at the top.

One canary (in a goalmine!) flew highest though via the 99th & 90th minute goals at Coventry & Peterborough respectively. They combined to give him a whopping 13 points and made all the difference!

Ben Hogwood 38 (5) spending your £20 weekly prize on a delight from Delia?!

Both Ends Burning:

Meanwhile, it was equally as tight at the other end of the table.

Sixteen players could break the 15 point marker and seven couldn’t muster a correct score.

It was a triptych of abject failure though this week, with Jason (or is it Tony?) Morris, Rich Lee and my mum 11 (0) choking and gasping for air…

Correct Score of the Week:

Scant…most popular score was Derby’s 1-0 win over PNE – 19 of us got that!

Six turned up Brighton 0 Norwich 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

5 nailed Coventry 2 Blackburn 2

Ben H & Reagon K somehow stumbled on Peterborough 0 Middlesbro 4 (how????)

Richard H & David G said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for their Bournemouth 3 Bristol City 2

Dom W landed on  the two-two in Dundee. The wrong side of Dundee…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Paul Carter for his I-predict-a-riot inspired, Luton 2 Millwall 2!

Bet of the Week:

Ric Pardoe was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 7 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We’re gonna build a statue of this lad!

Another full house from the Stockport Selector…

“I’ve backed these three with the remaining 97p in my William Hill (other money draining bookies are available) account…”
Mansfield to beat Northampton – nervy 1-0
Sunderland to beat Gillingham – very nervy 1-0, 95th minute winner!
Halifax to beat Wealdstone – Mr 2-0 was on it”

So, £10.62 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th – whoop whoop!

Mark Seels is at 33rd this week….

Seelsy, I need your 3 team selection by Friday, please!

This is the “The Syndicate’s” game – can you be like Ric ?!

Table News:

Over You:

Pete Britton leaps 4 places to the top, 2 points ahead of Ben H, who in turn is four points clear of Simon B & John N

Two crashed the Top Ten!

Same Old Scene:

Patricia Fernandez stays bottom, now eight points behind Tim P, who in turn is 6 points off Will O…and Croydon weeps.

Dance Away:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping(!) 16 places is Chris Webber – honourable mentions go to Jazz S (+13), Chris D (+13), Pete H (+15), and Mark S (+11)

More Than This:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 21 places is Rich Lee – dishonourable mentions go to Tony M (-15), Matthew M (-12), and Dan H (-10)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 7 round up

 “Avengers end game…”

This Is A Call:

‘Twas a thrilling week so it ’twas (no, I don’t know why i’m speaking like that either…) and most thrilled (of the 30 who 30 point plussed) was Neil Meredith 41 (7) who just sneaked past the unlucky Dom W (thanks to that late Portuguese goal on Thursday!) to lay claim to this week’s £20.

Well done la, a fine win in a bizarre but enjoyable International Week!

Runcorn and her triptych of bridges will be so proud …#wool

Monkey Wrench:

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, the quest to bridge the gap was  in vain.

Only 7 didn’t notch a correct score though!

However, a sub 15 point score this week is going to hurt you…

Tim Payne 11 (0) must be in stitches…#ouch!

Correct Score of the Week:

And breathe…most popular score was Argentina’s 3-0 win over Venezuela– 24 of youse got that!

Fourteen got the very annoying last minute spoiling (but also very pleasing) Portugal 3 Turkey 1

7 got the dull-all for Doha in Accra

Six banked the five points on offer for the 2-2 betwixt Hartlepool & Mansfield

4 got 4 goal demolition of Chile by Brazil

Paul C celebrated the bore draw between Bradford & Newport

Mike K had his secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate in Stockholm

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Bijay Lama for his there’s-a-moose-loose-about-this-hoose inspired, Canada 4 Jamaica 0!

Bet of the Week:

Dom Webber was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 6 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He was either off foraging for Spurs v Toon tickets and forgot or was keeping his spot on predictions for himself!
He’s a lovely lad — I hope he got his tickets…

So, £3 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th – up and running!

Danny Ashworth & Ric Pardoe are at 45th this week….first out the hat was the “hot on National League”, Ric P!

Ricardo, I need your 3 team selection by Friday, please!

More of the same as the other week please mate!

Table News:

Best Of You:

Jason Morris (or is it Tony?!) stays top, now 5 points ahead of Anders H, who in turn is four points clear of Simon B

Two crashed the Top Ten!

Everlong:

Patricia Fernandez stays bottom, four points behind Greg F, who in turn is 3 points off Tim P

Learn To Fly:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping(!) 17 places is Dom Webber – honourable mentions go to Chris W (+14), Ben H (+16), Chris D (+15), Matthew M (+14), Mark S (+14) and Debbie L (+14)

Times Like These:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 23 places is Ben McKeown – dishonourable mentions go to Peter M (-16), Danny A (-17), David G (-18), John K (-15), and Rowan M (-16)

PAS Champions League 2022-23:

In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2022-23 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is, not that one, this one…Simon Lindsay!

And Another Thing:

“Remember, kids, violence is never the answer, especially if it’s going to subject everyone to a full week of hot takes, polarised op-eds and memes. Oh Will! How could you! The Fiver is also sad that the incident has instantly become the most famous and notorious on-stage hand-jaw-interface scenario in history, eclipsing that time Jerry Sadowitz took to the stage in Montreal and opened with “I tell you why I hate Canada, half of you speak French, and the other half let them” with predictable consequences…” – The Fiver

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 6 round up

 “Wembley Semi Final tifo incoming….”

Connection:

It was a proper bun fight for the weekly prize going into Sunday with as many as eleven contenders vying for the crown (over 20 players scored 30 points or more, btw) – and, at one point, we were considering our first debutant double weekly winner…Imagine! Jeeez.

Neil O was sitting pretty with his City 9 pointer but failed to capitalise and Richard H & Scott H were both up there but ultimately left angrily pounding the ground with St Johnstone 92nd minute hate.

Why?

Tom Wooldridge 41 (6) popped up happy clapping Son’s 88th minute goal that 5 pointed him all the way to the bank. £20 Tom – you’ve got Spurs to thank!

Personally, I think it was Bukayo’s winner at Villa that sealed it for you…

Blue:

Another medicore clump of a week where only ten PASers scored 15 points or less.

3 of them didn’t get a single correct score (birthday boy Rowan M managed 17 unassisted points!)

So who was left wanting?

Beginners luck is one thing, but beginner’s catastrophe is very much something else…welcome to PAS Luke Stafford 10(0), you’ve truly arrived!

Correct Score of the Week:

I feel sick…most popular score was Leicester’s 2-1 win over Brentford– 28 of us got that!

Seventeen bribed D&D to tinker with the PAS timelapse cog in the back end and waltzed off with Celtic 4 Ross County 0

10 made us all green by happening upon Spurs 3-1 West Ham

Eight just knew Southampton would score against Citeh for a 1-4

Simon Linds, Paul V & Debbie L got the 3-1 Granite City win over Hibs

Matthew M & Dan M were well away with the 1-3 away win for Luton at Hull

Jack B nabbed the form book upsetting Reading 1 Blackburn 0

Tom W-S got the dull-all at Fratton Park

Andy C celebrated the bore draw between Swansea & Birmingham

Martin S turned up Gillingham 0 Sheffield Wednesday 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Howard Thomas for his babby’s-yed-and-pea-wet inspired, Wigan 4 Morecambe 1!

Bet of the Week:

Joanne McKeown was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 5 so we asked her to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

A bit like Sunderland…

“sorry I only keep half an eye on this stuff but I do have my 3 suggestions for the weekly bet:

Sunderland, Portsmouth and Bolton to win… I only look at league one these days!”
Draw – draw – win = nowt
Unlucky though Jo!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 83rd – ooops!

Dom Webber is at 60th this week….

Dommo, I need your Darlo inspired 3 team selection by Friday, please!

You’re following a League 1 fail…on International Week – eeek!

Table News:

2:1:

Jason Morris (or is it Tony?!) stays top, now 3 points ahead of Anders H, who in turn is six points clear of Andy C

Four crashed the Top Ten!

Waking Up:

Patricia Fernandez stays bottom, five points behind Greg F, who in turn is 1 point off Sam O

Line Up:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 22 places are Matthew Stafford & Tom Wooldridge-Stevens – honourable mentions go to Neil O (+21), Ric P (+20), Richard H (+19), and Dan C (+16)

Stutter:

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 5 round up

 “Stamford Bridge is falling down…”

Violently Happy:

Imagine if PAS cost £10 a week to play!

If you won the thing you’d be proper rich, even a weekly prize would be a “let’s get on the lash” amount!

But I suppose only about 3 people would play, so maybe the prize money wouldn’t be eye-watering would it…

Anyway, there were loads of 90th minute goals (and a significant 89th one too) so it made this week even more exciting than it usually is! The standard shot up as well (or did the scores revert to when football was a bit more predictable?!) with 26 players scoring 30 points or more. Some of us got really giddy going into Monday only to have that “one goal out” feeling come 10pm…

Predictz was up there again, Dan H was even up there (see what happens when you actually do your scores Dan?!).

David G & Reagon K laid claims, George T menaced, Neil T rolled back the years and Jamie S threatened to make it proper old skool with his best tally in about a decade!

However, newbie John Nunn 39 (5) used up all that “beginners luck” with 4 x 90th minute goals going his way and he landed a couple of 5 pointers for good measure too.

Well done John, a fine debut season already and the £20 weekly prize is coming your way…i’ll keep schtum on reimbursing you £40 for your PAS entry fee(s) though.    : )

Nunn’s the word eh?!

It’s Oh So Quiet:

You can tell it was a good scoring week by looking at the wrong end of the weekly table.

Only four x no correct scores and nobody with a single figure total!

There always has to be someone propping up the rest though, and Patricia Fernandez 11 (1) takes up a familiar residency as the wild & wacky predictions yet again, fail to deliver…   : (

Mum’s the word eh?!

Correct Score of the Week:

Like feeding time at the zoo…most popular score was Rangers’ 0-3 Cup win at Dundee – 26 of youse got that!

Nineteen were all over the Scottish Cup 0-3 to the Celtic

6 got the dull-all at St Andrews

Another six(!) thrilled at the thrilling Ronaldo 3 Spurs 2

5 celebrated the bore draw between Cardiff & PNE

Four got WBA’s “Desmond” with Huddersfield

Martin S & Kate S secretly had their prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at ‘Wall

Rob C & Dan H we’re so happy for Peterborough 2-2 Stoke, they will actually wear that ballet dress…

Gary B & Julian F will shout out loud about the humbling of Reading by Forest

Bijay L nabbed the form book upsetting Blackburn 0 Bristol City 1

Matt W had the very annoying last minute spoiling Tranmere 3 Mansfield 2

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Mike Krasnowski for his put-some-maple-syrup-on-that inspired,

Port Vale 4 Crowley Town 1!

Bet of the Week:

Ric Pardoe was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 4 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Whoop whoop! We won!

“I’m going all National League this week, channelling the spirit of Frank Sidebottom seeing as my beloved County are riding high again…
Torquay to win
Halifax to win
Wealdstone to win”
they did, 2-3
they did, 2-1 – despite the hapless Dover taking a shock lead…
they did, 3-2

So, £10.33 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd – waaaallloppp! Superb stuff Ricardo – big up!

Joanne McKeown is at 83rd this week….

Joanne, man, I need your “Her name is Rio, cos she dances on the sand…” inspired 3 team selection by Friday, please!

You’re following a big winner…no pressure pet!

Table News:

Army Of Me:

Jason Morris (or is it Tony?!) goes up 3 places to the top, 1 point ahead of Jamie S & Andy C

Five crashed the Top Ten!

Play Dead:

Patricia Fernandez relieves her grandson of his duties in the basement slot, four points behind the aforementioned Greg F, who in turn is 1 correct score off Sam O

Possibly Maybe:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 27 places is Neil Templeton – honourable mentions go to George T (+18), Predictz (+15), John N (+25), David G (+18), Jazz S (+17), Julian F (+15), El Presidente (+15), Dan H (+16) and Reagon K (+18)

Human Behaviour:

Falling furthest this week (cruelly), down a whopping 24 places is Ric Pardoe – dishonourable mentions go to Dom W (-17), Ryan G (-22), Ben H(-23), and Ben McK (-20)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 4 round up

 Fat chance…

You’re The Best Thing:

It’s shaping up to be a tight season judging by the first four weeks’ scores <puffs cheeks, reassured that being 69th is “ok”> and the “bunching” was a real feature in Week 4…

13 punters scored thirty points or more (even Gary B risked a nosebleed this week!) with seven players laying claims to the £20 weekly prize – a couple had the 4-1 derby 9 pointer and four more had Man City only winning 3-1, which must have really rankled…

Ric P was almost there, but a 96th minute goal for Luton ultimately ended his challenge.

It was left wide open then for Dave Crisp 35 (5) to bag victory – two five pointers courtesy of Huddersfield & Celtic was topped off with 95th minute Forest equaliser securing the vital correct score to see off his rivals.

And if you’re feeling miffed about the aforementioned last minute spoiling 4-1, Dave had 3-1 too…

Congrats Crispy – you wouldn’t consider changing up for 20 x £1 coins and luzzing them at Granit on Sunday would you?!

Asking for a friend…

Walls Come Tumbling Down:

It was snuggly in the nether regions too this week!

20 of us failed to make the 20 point mark with only 4 PASers failing to register a correct score.

One didn’t get into double figures though.

Bijay Lama 9 (0) i think you’re in a for a ribbing on your What’s App group mate…

Correct Score of the Week:

Meh…most popular score was Toon’s 2-1 win over Brighton– 28 of youse got that!

Twenty-one doffed a cap to Huddersfield’s 3-0 deconstruction of Posh

19 were well away with the 1-3 away win for Celtic

Five got Dundee Utd’s “Desmond” with Hearts

5(!!) had City’s merciless deconstruction of Man Yoo

Sam A, Rowan M & Ric P obviously guessed Swansea would beat Coventry 3-1

Simon Linds & Justin C lapped up the injury time joy of Norwich 1 Brentford 3

Neil C believed in Blackpool. A 0-1 kinda belief…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Howard Thomas for his your-name’s-not-down-you’re-not-coming-in inspired, Lincoln City 3 Sheffield Wednesday 1!

Bet of the Week:

Chris Dixon was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 3 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Nope…

“Here’s my trixie selection that is absolutely nailed-on, guaranteed, safer than an oligarch’s superyacht in a UK port, to bring home the winnings this week:
Newcastle United – W
Wolverhampton Wanderers – W
Sheffield Wednesday – W
I can hear the bookmaker’s knees trembling already…”
Yes Toon!
No!
Noooooo!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th – hmmmmppphhh!

Ric Pardoe is at 33rd this week….

Ricardo, I need your National League leading inspired 3 team selection by Friday, please!

We need a winner…no pressure!

Table News:

Shout To The Top:

Andy Chesworth jumps up to the summit, 1 point ahead of Anders H, who in turn is 1 point ahead of Norman L in third…

Five crashed the Top Ten!

Have You Ever Had It Blue:

Greg Fleming flops down 2 places back to the bottom, one correct score behind Paul H, who in turn is 2 correct scores off Luke S

A Solid Bond In Your Heart:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 26 places is Dave Crisp – honourable mentions go to Andy K (+17), Ric P (+20), Justin C (+18), Paul V (+16), Neil M (+17), Sam A (+19) and Howard T (+16)

My Ever Changing Moods:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 29 places is John King – dishonourable mentions go to Bijay L (-26), Paul C (-15), Predictz (-16) and Charlie H (-16)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 3 round up

 Just say “no”…

The War Song:

It was a lively Week 3 right up to, erm, Saturday 4.45pm.

A tightly contested field was bunched together as 14 punters reached & breached the 30 point mark.

But only 5 really could have won it. Well, maybe just Charlie H. Or maybe Norman L, Dan M & Lee T might have nicked it.

But then came the 89th & 98th minute drama at Bournemouth & Coventry respectively…

That earned the 5 points that catapulted Kate Slee 40 (7) right to the top, and there she stayed to grip hold of the weekly £20 prize.

Well done Katie – you did it (again!) <winking emoji>

Do You Really Want to Hurt Me:

Oooof!

Nearly half of us failed to notch up more than 20 points this week.

Five of those suffered the ignominy of collecting zero correct scores…

Those feeling the pain particularly pressing?

Greg Fleming 6 (0) spared the blushes of Luke S and put the family honour in disrepute (again!) <fuming emoji>

Correct Score of the Week:

Bleak…most popular score was Aberdeen’s 1-1 draw with Dundee Utd– 26 of youse got that!

Four had Ross County’s 3-1 win over St Johnstone

Chris W made us all green by happening upon WBA 0-2 Swansea

Pete C believed in Stevie G. A 0-2 kinda belief…

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Best Correct Score of the Season, goes to George Triantafillou for his it-was-all-academic inspired, Oxford United 4 Cambridge United 2!

Bet of the Week:

Mike Krasnowski was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 2 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Wipeout!

“I’ll keep it simple, I haven’t kept up enough with North American sports. I’ll go with:

Brighton – Aston Villa (Draw)
Bournemouth (Win) – Stoke
Crawley Town – Forest Green Rovers (Win)
Cheers!”
nope, yep & no(!) – shocker!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th – oops!

Chris Dixon is at 45th this week….

Christophe, I need your Toon inspired 3 team treble by Friday, please!

Will you go Mackem?…no pressure!

Table News:

The Medal Song:

Simon Lindquist & Anders Hoglund make it a double helping of Swede at the top, 4 points ahead of of Andy F in third…

Five crashed the Top Ten!

I’m Afraid Of Me:

Luke Stafford drops  13 places to anchor the table, one point behind Paul H, who in turn is 1 point off Greg F

It’s A Miracle:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 40 places is Kate Slee – honourable mentions go to Charlie H (+35), Dan M (+35), Chris W (+24), Sam A (+23), Dan C (+22), Lee T (+21) and George T (+20)

I’ll Tumble 4 Ya:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 32 places is Simon Lindsay – dishonourable mentions go to Greg F (-24), Dom W (-23), and Neil M (-21)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 2 round up

The national outdoor advertising campaign is going well…

Money:

I’m on my first holiday in all them years so I’m just a little blissed out… here are the numbers!

Three players scored 30 points or more.

One isn’t real (well they are, but they’re not in PAS terms)

Tony M & Pete H narrowly missed out to Predictz 33 (6) so that means a homeless person will be getting £20 this week (if I can find one in Cornwall!) – isn’t PAS just lovely sometimes!

Losing My Way:

We were meant to leave MCR on Friday, but no. Saturday we waited 2 hours at Piccadilly but all the trains got cancelled. Sunday we got the 10.30 train that terminated in Shrewsbury. We finally got to Newquay, via Newport & Bristol, at 21.30. Then there was no heating or hot water…here’s the numbers!

15 players scored fifteen points or less.

Seven didn’t get a correct score.

One didn’t make double figures…

Sam Arora 9 (0) you are this week’s whipping boy!

Correct Score of the Week:

Oh my…most popular score was Blackpool’s 1-1 draw at Cardiff City – 26 of youse got that!

Twelve just knew Doncaster would score against Sheff Wed for a 1-3

5 nailed Stoke 2 Birmingham 2

Patricia F, Norman L & Debbie L had Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Norwich

Matthew M & Dan C somehow stumbled on Leeds 2 Man Utd 4 (how????)

Luke S saw his typo come good on the game at Dundee Utd

Luke S (again) nabbed the form book upsetting, Fulham 1 Huddersfield 2

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Best Correct Score of the Season, goes to Patricia Fernandez for her-I-just-knew-Spurs-would-come-good-for-me-one-day inspired, Man City 2 Spurs 3!

Bet of the Week:

Sam Osmond was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 1 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He won…sort’ve!

“Sam’s playing it safe with this week’s bet – Liverpool, Man City and Celtic to win…”
yep, nope & yep (just) – when you go safe, you need all three to come in folks!

So, £0.93 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 83rd – not the best start, but it’s a start!

Gareth Morgan & Mike Krasnowski are at 60th this week….Mike was first out the hat though!

Mr K, I need your Canadian flavoured 3 team treble by Friday, please!

Will you go ice hockey?…no pressure!

Table News:

Disco Yes:

Simon Lindquist stays top, 4 points ahead of Anders H who in turn is six points ahead of Tony M in third…

Six crashed the Top Ten!

South Of The River:

Gary Blackburne remains rooted to the bottom, three points behind Alex R, who in turn is 2 points off Paul H

Beautiful Escape:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 49 places is Predictz – honourable mentions go to Pete H (+29), Rich  L (+25), Kate S (+25), Andy C (+25), Damian H (+22), and Tony M (+20)

Wake Up This Day:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 33 places are Sam Arora & John Jennings – dishonourable mentions go to Neil O (-31), Pete C (-26), Frankie F (-24), Matthew S (-22), Bijay L (-21), and John K (-20)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 1 round up

Jack The Lad didn’t muddy the waters last season…can you take his crown?

Believe:

We’re back! With a bang!

No, not Arsenal again – PAS!

Although given the sharpness of this update, I could’ve waxed lyrical about “trusting the process” and how karma works (Granit! Jose is on the phone…) and gone into the absurdness of that new handball rule <sniggers, thinking of OT…>

But I won’t…

I’ll cut to the chase as it was all about the Swedes this week – and, they deserve a break from pillaging, right?

One Viking quite clearly not in the long boat this weekend was Simon Lindquist 47 (6) who deftly mashed a compatriot just like Hagar The Horrible!

Poor Anders H has Bournemouth’s Siriki Dembele to growl at for denying him a weekly win courtesy of that 95th minute goal in Blackpool.

So, congrats Mr L, £20 winging its way back to you ASAP – should secure you one of those natty horned helmets that your ancestors didn’t actually wear…*cheeky tongue out emoji*

Polyesterday:

Did you score 30 points + this week? Wow, we’re in awe…

Thirty one of you managed that, but 10 punters couldn’t manage more than 15 points this week  – and eleven couldn’t muster a correct score!

Shocking.

Not as shocking as Mr 2-0 though eh?

Ahem…

Five disciples of the blanket score also not feeling any joy are Tom Wooldridge-Stevens, Paul Henshaw, Neil Critchlow , Alex Rossi & Dan Hogwood  9 (0).

@Dan – you’re suspended from your duties pending a Board enquiry… *rolls eyes emoji*

Correct Score of the Week:

That, mis amigos, is a strong start…most popular score was Bournemouth’s late late 1-2 win over Blackpool– 23 of youse got that!

Twenty one had Celtic’s merciless deconstruction of Raith Rovers

19 just knew Norwich wouldn’t score against Man City for a 0-4

Sixteen were well away with the 1-3 away win for Hibs

13 got West Ham’s “Desmond”(RIP) with Leicester City

Eleven were all over the Scottish Cup 0-3 to Dundee

9 doffed a cap to Rangers’ 0-3 deconstruction of Annan Athletic

Four had Swansea’s 3-1 win over Bristol City

John J, Justin C & Dom W banked the five points on offer for the 2-2 betwixt Forest & Stoke

Jason M, Paul C & Predictz got the dull-all at that bus stop in Hounslow

David G & Rowan M celebrated the bore draw between Port Vale & Northampton

Mark J B & Tim P got Birmingham 3 Luton 0

George T was grateful for the 0-1 Liverpool win over Burnley

David G (again!) turned up WBA 0 Sheff Utd 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

Luke S secretly had his prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at the Kirklees Stadium

David G (again! again!) believed in Fat Frank. A 3-0 kinda belief…

I said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for my little brother approving Portsmouth 4 Doncaster 0

However, this week’s best correct score, and therefore Best Correct Score of the Season, goes to Pete Clarke for his I-just-knew-there-was-a-nine-pointer-on-offer inspired, Reading 2 Coventry City 3!

Bet of the Week:

So, we’ve failed quite spectacularly in the last few seasons on this – actually, we’ve always failed.

But last season, we did alright. Welllllll, alright(ish)…

So!

We’re being brave and we’re gonna stick with it to see how we go!

How?

Whoever is on the “Bet of the Week” position for the following week will be asked to provide a treble selection so we can place the allocated £3 for the bet.

The winnings will stay on that slot and collected by the lucky person residing there at the end of Week 13.

Got that? No?!

OK…

The person on 83rd will make the selections for Week 2, the person on 60th in Week 2 will make the selections for Week 3,the person on 45th in Week 3 will make the selections for Week 4 and the person on 33rd in Week 4 will make the selections for Week 5 and back round again to 83rd…yeah?!

Good.

So, youngster Sam Osmond is first up. (ask your Dad first Sam!)

Sammy, I need your 3 selections by Friday please! It can be a home, away or draw. It doesn’t have to be football! It can be horses! Or dogs! Or fighting crickets! But not cricket…that’s a step too far!

Let’s get off to a winning start for a change.

No pressure lad…

Table News:

It’s Week 1 – it is what it is! Click here for the full table

Please be aware we lost quite a few players but we can still gain some more (thanks to those of you who recruited the newbies this season – love youse!) – so if you know anyone out there who wants to get involved, put them in touch!

It’s never too late…they’ll get a, ahem<cough>, respectable Mr 2-0 9pts for Week 1 to boot!

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’21 final table round up

“Breathe…”:

So, who won?

Well…a young PASer who has, let’s say, been very much in the shadows at his family abode due to his dad’s emphatic Champions League record. One who obviously took it upon himself to be more like his old man this season…and my, how that decision has paid off!

He let his “this-is-how-to-win-a-league-title” weekly performances do the talking for him “on the pitch” as he’s yet to get involved on our What’s App group (erm, the rest of youse are all on that aren’t you?!) and give some sideye to the Arse like is the want of everyone on there…<shakes fist>

It was another close, compacted, confusing Covid (slightly less) catastrophe of a season – whilst Man City smoothly glide their way to the title (come on you Gunners!!) with certainty & consistency in the (non) real world, our champion pretty emulated Pep’s Machine to his own victory!

A few players kinda threatened to win it, but…

No one got close to the magnificent correct score tally. The joint fourth best ever. And, the points tally was the 8th highest ever to boot!

To be perfectly frank, it was another of those almost perfect campaigns…

Our “Winter” champ started the season at a comfy 15th, jumped to 4th, then hit the top spot in Week 3. Blimey.

And there he stayed right up to Week 8 before dipping to 2nd for a few weeks. Double blimey!

More dips?

Nope.

Week 12 it was all about putting the gallant Matthew M et al (inc. his dad) to the sword!

With the impeccable timing of a seasoned PAS pro, when really it mattered, any challengers were brushed aside in a remarkable performance of concentrated consistency!

So, be upstanding lords, ladies & gents and doff your caps to Jack Buxton 376 (54) – He. Is. A. Winner!

Bravo Master Buxton, you’ve shown some minerals this season. Sparkling stuff!

Jack The Lad won by a narrow 3 points from a heroic effort from Matthew Murphyin second place.

And he finished six points ahead of “Geordie With A Nosebleed”, Chris Dixon in third spot.

Simon Buxton was a further 1 point behind in the not too shabby 4th berth, with Mark Seels 12 points shy in 5th proudly flying the “I’m The Top Syndicator” banner for once…  : )

Just three correct scores  further back, Jazz Sian can reflect on a fine season, akin to his halycon days, finishing in sixth spot, with a, i’d expect, very giddy Lily Templeton following in 7th virtue of another 3 correct scores. Bravo that Belfast Bella (aged 12)!

In eighth place (only 7 points back) was the ever enthusiastic Reagon Karki and further endorsing & repping “Girl Power!”, Samantha Randall was another two points behind in 9th.

Like the resurgent Tranmere, Rich Lee just edged out perennial prize spot botherer Jason Morris courtesy of a couple of points in 10th…welcome back to the big time Ricardo!

“Masquerade”:

Only 16 points, but 58 places, separated our new champion from newbie Robert Haworth 253 (22) in Week 1!

Actually, that may well be the highest scoring wooden spoon ever…but I guess that’s scant consolation cos it’s still last place innit!

Awkward…

Starting in 83rd, our latest debutant never really recovered.

Like a role model to rubbish yo-yoing, it was then 77th, down to 91st, down again to 93rd for two weeks, then up to 92nd, and up again in Week 7 to 90th!

Week 8 it was down to 92nd.

A brief rally to 91st & then 87th was followed with a slip down again to 89th in Week 11.

Week 12 saw him nestled in at second bottom

And then the final fall…securing the wooden spoon to round off a thoroughly miserable year.

Eddie O, Tony M, Debbie L, Charlie H & El Presidente made gallant efforts over the season to save The Syndicate’s mate’s blushes, but…

Spot Prizers

Ok, YOU have finished on these positions AND you HAVE won those prizes!

Pete Hawdon on 13th, Luke Stafford on 17th, Ben Hogwood on 23rd, Mike Krasnowski on 27th, Daniel Hughes on 33rd, Neil Osborne on 39th, Bijay Lama on 42nd, Martin Stafford on 45th, George Triantafillou on 56th, Neil Critchlow on 57th, Stuart Fitzsimon on 60th, Dan Miller on 65th, Ric Pardoe on 71st, Howard Thomas on 83rd, and Me! on 89th – small victories, kids!

*** all prize money (less your entry fee!) will be winging its way over this week – promise! Look out for that Monzo link notification on email!***

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’21 Week 13 round up

“Drawn to a close…RIP you Ledge!”

Wet Dream”:

*** spoiler alert! ***

I’m writing this like it’s that sweet time of year just before you open your presents… y’know, to keep it “real” like the halcyon days of pre-Covid!

You can tell it’s the holiday season – people put down crazy scores, crazy scores come in.

Mr 2-0 is oversubscribed as people “forget” or drift off into an alcoholic abyss with little chance of predicting succour.

Form goes out the window & “coupon busters” are celebrated by bookies across the country.

So how do you combat this perennial problem?

Don’t ask me, I had Stoke v Fulham as 1-1 & Arsenal to beat Burnley 4-0…

However, as Liverpool netted an 89th minute penalty (it really wasn’t, was it!) at Selhurst Park , the miracle of Christmas left Predictz trailing in the wake of Martin Stafford 40 (7)

VAR, late pens and 14 points from the last 4 games of the season – ding, dong! (merrily on high)

Third weekly win of the season for the Staffords & 3rd (!) Christmas (Week 13) in a row for Mr S…

I can just copy n paste this then –

“Sawreetferthee M, eeeyafflaff?!

Art suppin bowt?

Best use that twenty quid, eh?!”

Ahem,

Here’s the science bit – 8 of youse managed 30 points or more.

Merry Christmas!

Oh No”:

It’s Christmas, there are crazy scores expected and there’s last minute (online) shopping to be done.

Why bother doing your scores?

Me, Ben H, David G & Mike K are wondering just that in a week where 5 of us only managed no more tha 15 points.

Someone who really didn’t have a Scooby this week was the usually high achieving Tony Morris 10 (1) – don’t let The Syndicate run you down T, come back brighter!

Correct Score of the Week:

Slim pickings…most popular score was QPR’s 1-2 win at Coventry – 22 of youse got that!

Nineteen go the very annoying 89th minute spoiling, outrageous ,Crystal Palace 1 Liverpool 3

10 doffed a cap to West Brom’s 3-0 deconstruction of Peterboro

Ben McK, Frankie F & Pete C got the dull-all at Gander Green Lane

Pete B & Rob C thrilled at the thrilling Bristol City 3 Cardiff City 2

Sam A & Eddie O obviously guessed Wigan would beat Gilliongham 3-2

Rich L was well away with the 1-3 away win for Mansfield

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Yours Truly for my at-effing-last-i’m-back-baby inspired, Southampton 1 Man City 1!

Bet of the Week:

Danny Ashworth was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 12 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We struck again!

Away wins for…
QPR – yes! Late and great…
Millwall – no, they don’t like to be beside the seaside do they!
Wolves – yes (go on the drone!)

So, £6.55 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th leaving it on a merry £9.63!

Great effort from all our BoTWers this season.
