PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’15 Week 8 round up

I Want To Dance”: Fifty. That’s, ahem, a big number innit (more about that on a later date..). You’d think securing over a half century of points would get you a weekly prize though. Well, you would. I would. Does Tony M? Nope. How about Jon T? Uh-uh. Nah, it was always gonna take a big number to win an international week and those old skoolers amongst us always shudder at the mere mention (isn’t funny how you always miss by just that *one* goal?). So, new boy Darren Banham 59 (8) unlocked the £20 this week no doubt justifying his decision to join our fold to boot! Congrats Darren, welcome to PAS – go tell your friends how easy it is to win money in our beautiful game…

Hot Water”: Being a disciple of Mr 2-0 is always a dangerous liaison and so it proved for 8 of you this week. International week! How many 2-0s did you really think there would be??! Anyway, you can feel a bit better about that blunder cos Josh Hirst & Dave Crisp 15 (0) did even worse than you!

Correct Score of the Week: … most popular score was Slovakia’s 3-0 win over little ol’ Luxembourg – 22 of youse got that!

21 got Andorra 0 – 3 Bosnia

20 got the hammering meted out to Lithuania at Wem-ber-lee.

17 got the very predictable 3-0 between Switzerland & Estonia.

4 got Hungary 0 Greece 0 and four got the five-nil in Brussels.

Four more pulled out a plum with Slovenia’s shellacking of San Marino!

Stuart F/Simon Lindq/Mark S  got Kazakhstan 0 Iceland 3 and Debbie L & James C got the bloomin’ 1-1 draw in Prague that brought down my 14 team acca – arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhh!!! Sorry.

Ben McK & Darren B got Austris’s fine win over Liechtenstein.

Debbie L (again) somehow managed to pull out Romania 1 Faroe Islands 0.

Andy F nailed Holland’s 1-1 against Turkey.

Graham E surpassed himself with the two-two between Bulgaria & Italy

However, this week’s best correct score, and new best correct score of the season, goes to Stuart Fitzsimon for his I-knew-they’d-score inspired, Scotland 6 Gibraltar 1.

Bet of the Week: This week’s 75p trixie went as follows –

Votes: 33

3 matches with over 4 goals selections: Slovenia v San Marino 23% / Georgia v Germany 21% / Scotland v Gibraltar 19%

Prize Slot: 65th

Returns: £3. I won’t bore you with the details but between me missing a deadline & finding a bookie actually offering odds this didn’t happen – £3 in the pot it is then!

Don’t forget to cast your vote every week but make sure you do it by 10am on Saturday!

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’15 Week 7 round up

Where It’s At”: You’d think securing EIGHT correct scores in a week would lock down the weekly prize wouldn’t you? Sam C certainly must have thought so & you can have a certain sympathy for her when it dawned that 39 points just wasn’t enough! Australian presence was once again prevalent in the shake up but this time going one better thanks to 2 nine pointers gifting Paul Carter 41 (6) the £20 booty! At last a Pommie victory Down Under – I wonder if this bodes well for the summer…

Loser”: It was all too apparent what kind of day Saturday would turn out once my lift to Newcastle didn’t show & I had to scramble around to get on a train to Toon disrupting my measured, controlled approach to predicting scores in the process. Well, that’s my excuse anyway! 8(0) this week for yours truly even out under-performing my Swedish Gooner friend on 9 points. On his birthday too! Ahh well, if that kind of sacrifice is required to ensure yet another away win & the handsome one bagging more goals, we’ll happily finish bottom if it means we creep up & snatch the League title…

Correct Score of the Week: … most popular score was Wigan’s 3-0 last gasp draw with Bolton – 19 of youse got that!

16 got the hammering meted out to West Brom at the Etihad

11 got the very predictable 3-0 between Celtic & Dundee Utd.

7 got Norwich 3 Nottm For 1 and four got the ol’ one-two in L4.

Eddie O & Ian P got Bradford 2 – Fleetwood 2 and Paul C & Neil O got the one-four featuring Tranmere & Burton Albion

Matt W & Peter M got Charlton’s fine win over beaten FA Cup semi finalists Reading.

Ben McK somehow managed to pull out Watford 0 Ipswich 1.

Dan H nailed Brighton’s 0-1 against Blackburn.

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Paul Carter for his walkabout inspired, Rotherham Utd 2 Sheff Wed 3.

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’15 Week 6 round up

A Sort Of Homecoming”: It looked like a proper bun fight for top prize going into Sunday with as many as seven contenders for the crown and at one point, we were considering for our first Antipodean weekly winner. Imagine! Strewth. But then Alex Taylor 46 (7) popped up clapping Everton who triptyched him all the way to the bank. £20 Alex – you’ve got Ross B to thank!

Bad”: A new trend appears to be taking root this season. “Let’s see who can get the worst score possible, possibly the worst of all time. It’s probably more difficult than getting over 30 points but i’m gonna give it a damn good go anyway…” Yeah, that trend. This week features Martin Stafford 5 (0) just missing out on equalling Stuart F of yore…

Correct Score of the Week: … most popular score was Arsenal’s 3-0 win over West Ham – 17 of us got that! Thanx Maffew!

16 got the hammering meted out to Blackpool at Dean Court

5 got Burton 3 Accrington 0 and four got the one-one in Fulham Broadway.

4 got Dagenham & Redbridge 1 – Southend 3 & four more got the two-two featuring Hamilton & Ross County

Charlie H / Ryan G / Jazz S got Palace’s fine win over QPR.

David G & Norman L somehow managed to pull out Burnley 1 Man City 0.

Matt W & Jon T nailed Watford’s 4-1 against Reading.

Alex T got the Goodison 3-0 & Jon T nabbed Leeds 0 Nottm Forest 0

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Ben McKeown for his its-my-birthday-lets-cut-loose inspired, Man Utd 3 Spurs 0.

Bet of the Week: This week’s 75p trixie went as follows –

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’15 Week 5 round up

Huarache Lights”: Proper scrap for top spot this week with at least 17 players in with a shout going into the last game (yeah, THAT game on Monday hehehe…). As it turned out 5 of you amassed 30 points only to be leap-frogged by Jason Morris 32 (5) who got THAT game correct to take another £20 into the “syndicate” vaults. Brave move that Jason going against your own team for the sake of PAS, I mean, you wouldn’t find me doing that…… *quickly deletes any trace of Man U 2 Arsenal 1 from archives*

Fool”: The scrap for worst score of the week as also keenly contested as Mr 2-0 (ha!) & 10 others conspired to get a measly 9 points! However, Stuart Fitzsimon 4 (0) produced the joint lowest score of all time (I think!) to take the proverbial biscuit. Shamed? Probably. Bothered? Doubt it. Arsenal won at Old Trafford on Monday. Did I mention that?

Correct Score of the Week: The uniques were prevalent again… most popular score was Tottenham’s 1-2 win at QPR – 28 of youse got that!

13 got the Desmond at Molineux and 13 more got Hibs 4 Berwick 0

12 got the very predictable 1-2 between Man Utd & Arsenal(!).

Howard T & Tony B got Swindon 3 Notts County 0 and two more got the two-two in Southend.

Mark J Brown got Sheff Utd 1 Fleetwood 2(!) & Peter Morley got Huddersfield 0 Rotherham 2(!!)

Neil Critchlow got Falkirk’s fine away win over Queen of the South (!!!).

Howard Thomas (again!) somehow managed to pull out the last minute Derby 2 Birmingham 2

However, this week’s best correct score, and new best correct score of the season, goes to Julian Fernandez for his i-know-the-basement-league-cos-Pompey-are-in-it inspired, Tranmere 2 Dagenham & Redbridge 3.

Bet of the Week: This week’s 75p trixie went as follows –

Votes: 28(!)

3 “both teams to NOT to score” selections: Hibs v Berwick 20% / Millwall v Norwich 19% / Liverpool v Blackburn 16%

Prize Slot: 11th

Returns: £2.09. First money on the board – yay! If wasn’t for plucky ‘Wall getting a consolation…

Don’t forget to cast your vote every week but make sure you do it by 10am on a Saturday.

Table News:

Let The Good Times Be Never Ending“: Jason Morris stays in top spot now 7 points ahead of Simon B, who in turn is now eleven points in front of Dan H in third.

Loads crash the Top Ten…again! So volatile…

Pedestrian At Best“: Steve Meaton remains bottom four points adrift of Graham E & Alex R who are now even trailing the resurgent Frankie!

False Hope“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 28 places is Andy Chesworth – honourable mentions go to Mark S (+22), Howard T (+21), Ian P (+22), Peter M (+21) & Danny A (+19).

Distant Past“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 23 places is Dan Rayner – dishonourable mentions go to Charlie H (-19), Simon Linds (-18), Jazz S (-16), Mr 2-0 (-15), Neil B (-15), Stephen M (-15), Paul C (-15) and Stuart F (-15).

PAS Champions League 2014/15: Quarter Final 1st leg games next week…

Last 16 replay result – Gareth Morgan’s march to a third consecutive title (will we have to “give” him a trophy a la Brasil?) continues as Ryan G caved in at the third time of asking…

PAS Lucky 13 Spring’15 Week 4 round up

Busy Earnin”: Right! I’m seriously considering changing this beautiful game into “Guess-A-Score” or “Don’t-Predict-A-Score” (where the challenge is to put scores so outrageous that the aim is to get the least points possible) as a worrying trend that started to creep in last season is gaining more ground as the weeks go by. What trend(s) is that I hear you ask? Inconsistency. Basic defending. Unsettled sides. Weakened sides. Stupid c*nts getting sent off…I could go on but i’m sure you get the picture & feel my (OUR!) pain. It really is getting to the point where league position and current form mean sweet eff all and what *should* happen is heavily outweighed by the complete opposite. Bah… I’ll cite our very own “Bet of Week” for proof – this week was the lowest in football history for games featuring both teams scoring! Bournemouth had scored for 187 games on the trot until we came along and plonked some money on them… I could cry but all my tears were shed on Wednesday night.

Anyway, suffice to say Mr 2-0 38 (6) won this week & dragged 6 lucky so ‘n’ so’s along with him – woe is me!

Crumbler”: You know it’s a bad week when Frankie F is positively luxuriating mid-table with 18 points – you’ve really got something to be down about now Nick Hogwood & Steve Meaton 7 (0)

Correct Score of the Week: What can I say… most popular score was Stoke’s 1-0 win over Hull City – 18 of youse got that!

7 got the nil-nil at McDiarmid Park.

5 got the only very predictable 2-1 between Liverpool & Man City.

Four got the quite frankly ridiculous Leeds 2 – 3 Watford.

Ryan Graves got Coventy 2 MK Dons 1(!) & Graham Entwistle got Burton 0 Newport 1(!!)

Andy Fowler (welcome!) got Partick’s fine win over Dundee Utd (!!!).

Paul Carter somehow managed to pull out Blackpool 1 Wigan 3 & Stephen Street used all his lower league knowledge to secure Chesterfield’s shellacking of Fleetwood…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Howard Thomas for his it-had-nil-nil-written-all-over-it (it didn’t) inspired, Bournemouth 0 Blackburn 0.

Bet of the Week: This week’s 75p trixie went as follows –

Votes: 39

3 “both teams to score” selections: Liverpool v Man City 26% / Norwich v Ipswich 16% / Bournemouth v Blackburn 13%

Prize Slot: 65th

Returns: £0. Jeez! At least we got more people doing this though – keep it up people, we’ll get there!

Drops“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 26 places is Jon Tofeili – dishonourable mentions go to Paul H (-25), Eddie O (-25), Richard H (-20), James C (-19), Neil C (-20) and Rowan M (-18).
