Spring 2006 : Cup & L13 Week 9 – Corrections…

…I knew I came back too early…

Got the scores wrong for some of you – don’t worry Andy B, you’ve still got your £20!

Cup scores should have read as follows…

Clare N 25 (2) V Steve P 33 (4)
Jazz S 23 (2) V Simon L 23 (2)
Mark F 19 (2) V Dan B 26 (4)
Jamie S 17 (1) V Simon S 15 (2)

Be nice, I’m not well…

Spring 2006 : Cup QF & L13 Week 9 – Review

Hola!

Finally out of the sickbed and enough energy to type (I felt like ET when they found him by the river…) – soz for the disruption but I understand Steve P and Dave N have been looking after you – cheers lads.

OK, Week 9…

Weekly Winner:
Andy Bowkett won with 34 (5) just edging out Steve P on 33 (4) If you want to a last minute Bet of the Week Andy, the floor is yours – well done, £20 coming your way soon…
Bet of the Week:
Yep, Tapiwa M lost so now we’re down to £3-odd profit…
PAS Cup Quarter Finals:
Soooooo, Steve P knocks out the current League Champion, Jazz S has that Polish keeper to thank for the extra point on his Spurs joker to salvage the first draw in the history of the Cup (I think), Dan B’s extra correct score takes him through and Jamie S probably can’t believe his luck.
Simon L – Jazz S replay will take place on Week 11 – Simon, you get to play a joker this time… the other 3 through are now guaranteed a payout at the end of the season – well done!

I’ll get all the details over to Dave soon so he can compile a table – remember, scoresheets back to me (on both e-dresses please!) by 19.44 tonight.

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2006 : Week 9 – BotW

We’re £8.35 up but it’s Tapiwa M next up, so I reckon we’ll be back down to £3.35 on Monday – I’ll let him explain…

Wassup! Ever since I was a little pickney growing up in Zimbabwe I knew I was a Scouser at heart, so that’s why I moved to London to mix with all the other true Reds.

Anyway, a few of them actually started to go to at least one game at Anfield every two years or something mad like that so I had to hot foot it up to Mancland, where no one in right mind would venture “west” to home of 5 Big Cups.

I love it in my armchair, I really got behind the boys on that unforgettable night last May…

My bet this week is £2.50 on a scorecast of Liverpool 2-0/Carragher 1st scorer and £2.50 on Liverpool 2-0/Kewell 1st scorer. Later lah!

Result: LOSER!

Remember our recruitment campaign for the World Cup – get 'em signed up.

Buenos Weekendio! I'm off to Derby to watched AJ crash a hat-trick in a 0-3 win…

Cheers,
Pab

PAS World Cup 2006…

Dear Cream of PAS,

The World Cup cometh and of course, we will be predicting our little hearts out!

I was toying with the idea of the Top 16 only qualifying, all 32 of us drawing a team and getting bonus points for each goal they score, having a handicap system to stop Jazz Sian winning any money… But nah, in the end I’ve decided after much deliberation with the Board, to make it “open season” and embrace all-comers (oo-er!)

Basically we want to get as many as possible playing in June to a) keep the entry fee down and b) give us a chance to take more money off the suckers!

Soooooo, I propose the following as a recruitment drive.

You get as may “PAS Virgins” to sign up for the World Cup (don’t bother going back to those who have played before, they’re on *my* list!) tell them the rules, show ’em how it’s done and we’ll get them to participate on Week 11 (for free!) so they can get a “feel” for the wonder of our beautiful game.

Get them to send me an e-mail headed “I’m A Virgin And I’m Gagging For Some PAS” and I’ll do the rest.

If your “virgin” beats all other “virgins” in Week 11, you will be granted free entry into World Cup 06! (but be nice and share the cost with them yeah?!)

To qualify for your freebie though, your “virgin” has to sign up to play in June – in other words get as many people as you can to take part in Week 11, they’ll get hooked, sign up for the World Cup and you might get a free entry for your troubles. Nice.

In the words of the brothers from the jungle – what you waitin’ for?!

Cheers,
Pablatter

L13 Spring 2006 : Week 8 – Review

Cookie :
Exciting finish again as it went down to the last game and Watford provided the correct result for Tapiwa Madovi 38 (6). Well done T, let’s hope I don’t have to take the £20 back off you cos of some, ahem, admin error in the score marking…
Jose:
Congratulations Neil Meredith 14(0), not for your pathetic score, but for the birth of your lovely daughter yesterday. Lucky girl takes after her mum…
Correct Score of the Week:
Loads got on the Arsenal revival and the Aberdeen cert. Quite a few got the Norwich score, 3 got Motherwell & Hibs 2-2 draw and 3 got Watford’s romp. This weeks best correct score goes to the Weekly Winner for his Newcastle Utd 1 Liverpool 3.
Bet of the Week :
God bless Jon T! He may have had a mare with his PAS but he came up trumps with his acca! We’re now £8 to the good after a £38 win – Tapiwa, you’ve got a tough act to follow…

Table News:

Great Height:
The new leader by 1pt is Steve T – big up.
The Pit:
The same wodden spooner as last week, Greg E, is now 6 points from not being embarrassed…
Scaling:
Highest climber is Dan McG (+10) closely followed by Tapiwa M (+7), Julian F (+6) and Ben H (+5)
Slipping:
Biggest faller is a joint effort from Jon T & Darryl M (-7), others of note are Michelle F (-6) and Mr 2-0 (-5)
Spot Prizers:
Karl C on 11th (+4), Danny A on 23rd (-2) and Andy b on 30th (-3)

++++++ It’s Q/F CUP WEEK too, so all those still involved with a home draw, remember your JOKER! +++++++

Cheers,
Pab

Thought of the Week : Why did I have to be greedy and add the “nailed on” Wycombe to Jon T’s selections…?

L13 Spring 2006 : Week 8 – BotW

After the mix-up mare of Week 7, it emerged that Jon Tofeili was the correct winner and therefore responsible for redressing our £30 deficit – over to the bookies favourite Geordie…

If you do this, for a £5 stake you will get £38.19, about 8-1

Thought I’d justify my selections…

  • Think on form Arsenal who are pushing for 4th will be too strong for Charlton on Saturday.
  • Bolton… well they are playing the scum at home (need I say more)
  • Man Utd are playing well and should win… unless Fergie takes a bung for his old mate Robson.
  • Colchester aren’t too clever lately but I expect them to turn Swindon over as they need to open up a gap on Oldham who beat them last week to consolidate their position in the play-offs.
  • Grimsby are on form and beat barnet at home last week 3-0. Fancy a repeat against a poor Bury side.
  • Finally Aberdeen to beat Livingston. Simply cos their playing Livingston who are sh*te.
  • Note: Celtic weren’t on my coupon but I’d take them to beat Inverness.

My Bet… put on today on bet365.com

Arsenal v Charlton
(Full Time Result) Arsenal 3/10
Bolton v Sunderland
(Full Time Result) Bolton 1/3
West Brom v Man Utd
(Full Time Result) Man Utd 1/2
Colchester v Swindon
(Full Time Result) Colchester 8/15
Grimsby v Bury
(Full Time Result) Grimsby 1/2
Aberdeen v Livingston
(Full Time Result) Aberdeen 4/9

Result: WINNER!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2006 : Week 7 – IMPORTANT INFO

Just when it was all going so smooooothly…

Thanks to the eagle eyes of Rich Lee and latterly Dan Bushell, we’ve uncovered a glitch that has, ahem, has some great affect…

It seems the Dundee Utd score was marked as a draw but as we all know it was actually 3-1 – sooooooooooo,

Danny A is not his weeks winner (he had 1-1 for Dundee Utd). Sorry Dan, it’s cruel and we should have re-checked without a prompt – harsh lessons have been learned…

Jon Tofieli is the real winner with his total of 33 (3) – well done Jon, I think you owe Rich & Dan a drink!

Some of youse have increased your score (notably John W who is now top) and some of you (well just poor Dan A I think) have lost points.

The new revised table will be up on the webpage very soon.

Apologies from the Board,
Pab

L13 Spring 2006 : Week 7 – Review

If two last minute “wonder strikes” hadn’t given Chelsea & Pompey last gasp winners, i’d be sitting here home, hosed and weighed-in as the weekly winner. So, it’s still up for grabs – here’s the scenarios…

If Palace win 1-3, Danny Ashworth will win

If Stoke win 2-0, Mr 2-0 and his 4 lazy mates (Andy B, Darryl M, Mindy N and Tapiwa M) will win (£4 each!)

If Palace win by any score other than 1-3, Simon Lindquist will win.

Any draw and I win!

Any Stoke win other than 2-0, Simon L and I will share the honours – I’m just waiting for that last minute goal…

Cheers,
Pab
