PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 final table round up

“Colleen”:

So, who won?

Well…a PAS stalwart who has, let’s say, been very much in the shadows since his PAS Cup & PAS World Cup victories back in the day (we won’t mention the “spoon”). One who obviously took it upon himself to be more like 2005 Delia rather than Daniel 2022…and my, how that decision has paid off!

He let his “this-is-how-to-win-a-league-title” weekly performances do the talking for him “on the pitch” as he’s yet to get involved on our What’s App group (tbf, he does run a very readable music “blog” so probably waaay too busy…) and give it some stink eye to The Arse like is the want of everyone on there <rolls eyes>

It was really close, compacted, Covid-free (sort’ve) unfathomable collection of results type of season – whilst Man City just got over the line to the title (CL qualification is overrated btw…) with drama & consistency in the (non) real world, our champion pretty much sung the same (Spursy) tune of “them lot” to his own victory!

A few players kinda threatened to win it, but…

To be honest, it was a case of slowly slowly catchy monkey…and when he was caught, he was held in a vice like grip!

Our “Spring” champ started the season at a CL qualifying comfy 30th, then dropped(!) to 33rd, then climbed to 25th in Week 3.

Week 4 he was knocking on the Top Ten door in 11th only to have it slammed in his face, jettisoned to a season low 34th spot. Blimey…

The climb began again, going up to 27th in Week 5 and then back up to 11th the week after.

This time the door opened, and he swept into 2nd before dropping back to 4th in Week 9

Week 10 saw the rise to the summit. And there he stayed, doggedly keeping all challengers at bay to take the title

Mustard!

So, be upstanding lords, ladies & gents and doff your caps to Ben Hogwood 354 (48) – He. Is. A. Winner!

Bravo Benjamin – Jeremy Goss, Steven Fry, Olivia Coleman, Cathy Dennis and Kevin Keelan have all sent telegrams of congratulations…

Uncle Ben won by a comfortable 7 points from the omnipresent Pete Brittonin second place.

And he finished two points ahead of a fabulous debut from John Nunns in third spot.

Neil Meredith was a further 1 point behind in the not too shabby 4th berth, with Andy Fowler 3 points shy in 5th, both proudly flying the “Top Scouse Season, Red or Blue” banner together for once…  : )

Just two points further back, Anders Hoglund can reflect on a rare season at such great heights finishing in sixth spot – and keeping it Swedish, Simon Lindquist followed up in 7th just another 1 point behind.

In eighth place (only 2 points back) was “First Lady” Kate Slee, further endorsing & repping “Girl Power!”.

Dan Wayman was another three points behind in 9th.

And not unlike Citeh, Andy Chesworth just edged out PAS Old skooler Jamie Sellers courtesy of a correct score in 10th…a most excellent season Andrew!

“Rebekah”:

Only 14 points, but 44 places, separated our new champion from Patricia Fernandez 220 (19) in Week 1!

Starting in 74th, my mum never really recovered.

Like a model run to wooden spoon legend, it was then to 78th, next down to 84th, down again to 87th then the final drop to 9oth in Week 5!

And there she stayed, peering up to (but not quite getting on the tails of) the likes of Tim P, grandson Greg F, Will O and Joanne McK…

Week 12 saw a sliver of hope when she climbed to 88th and left a fighting chance to NOT collect the spoon!

And then, the final fall…securing the wooden spoon for an unprecedented third time.

What was that?

Yes.

The Board will commission a gold spoon to mark this historic occasion!

Spot Prizers

Congratulations to Justin Corliss for sneaking the last spot (by one point!) for entry to PAS Champions League 2022/23 Group Stages.

The Top 32 have qualified and the big draw will take place when the real one does (Frankie is talking about a live Instagram thingy or something…)

Plaudits

Thanks again to all for taking time and bothering to play, we couldn’t do it without you!

And a final big thank you to Dave N Dan H for providing all the behind the scenes techky stuff to enable another great (relatively glitch free!) season…

See you in August PASers.

Cheers, and enjoy your summer…

But remember, it’s a World Cup Christmas!

Cheers,

Pab

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 13 round up

“Joey de-con-struction…”

Chico:

“One child grows up to be, somebody that just loves to learn…”

Another up close and personal week to end the season, with 10 punters breaching the thirty points mark.

But, intrigue came cos it was the “not yer usual” contenders that made the story.

Which probably goes some way to explain the ridiculous scorelines that came in this week….

Rowan M was up there! Ryan G was up there! Howard T was up there! I was in nosebleed territory with a heady 38 points – with a couple of 90th minute goals that made my brain spin and gave licence to dream of a weekly win..

However, opening and closing with 2 x 9 pointers (courtesy of injury time goals in both games to boot!), Greg Fleming 45 (5) stole the show and the booty!

Sly moves nephew – you better buy me a beer with that £20!

Grey Days:

“Come on, everybody get on up, ‘Cause you know we gots to get it crunk…”

Once again, some decent “rubbish” scores at the other end as only five players failed to reach 15 points.

Just 4 didn’t register a correct score with Sam A grtful for the one he did notch!

So, Patricia Fernandez 11 (0) finished bottom yet again as the cavalier attitude to form and league position continues to all but guarantee yet another wooden spoon – I think the next one is gold one!

Sorry Mother, that’s more bilge than Blige…

Correct Score of the Week:

Yessssssss…most popular score was Blackburn’s 1-2 win at Birmingham – 25 of youse got that!

Seven quite rightly predicted City’s 5-0 (oil) slick thrashing of Newcastle

4 bribed Dave & Dan to tinker with the PAS timelapse cog in the back end and waltzed off with WBA 4 Barnsley 0

Four more thrilled at the thrilling Celtic 4 Hearts 1

Kate S believed in Bournemouth. A 1-0 kinda belief…

Howard T doffed a cap to Wrexham’s 3-0 deconstruction of Stockport County

Howard T (again!) just knew Burnley would score against Villa for a 1-3

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Luke Stafford for his I-always-try-to-finish-on-double-two-even-on-PAS inspired, Chelsea 2 Wolves 2!

Bet of the Week:

Lee Taylor was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 12 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

It was a “no-show”

So, £3 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd leaving it on a springy £13.33!

Great effort from all our BoTWers this season.

Say it quietly, but I think we may be onto something here…but I always say that, don’t I….

Table News:

Three crashed the Top Ten.

Seems Fine”:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 24 places, is Me! – honourable mentions go to Greg F (+10), Howard T (+15), Ryan G (+18), Matthew Stafford (+12) and Andy Kelly (+11)

Say Something New:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 17 places, is Sam Arora – dishonourable mentions go to Dom W (-13), and Lily T (-13)

PAS Cup 2022:

Semi Finals ties went ahead this week…

It. Was. Really. Dramatic!

We had 1 successful joker! And, amazingly, 1 draw!

Matthew Murphy dispatched Mike K 20 (2) to 15 (0) to take his place in the Final.

But the only successful “joker” of four earned Chris D a draw against Mark S in a 25 (3) all draw!

It went to extra time (9 games on Wednesday) and, amazingly, that ended 12(1) all causing much consternation at PAS Towers.

So, a hastily arranged inaugural penalty shoot out took place last night over 5 very random games (yes, including THAT derby…) –  and Mark Seels emerged the winner by 5(1) – 4 (0).

Now that was a Cup tie!

Commiserations to the losers – the £30 should see you right though eh?!)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 12 round up

“Oooh, that scouse wit…”

Bombtrack:

Jeepers!

Week 12 proved to be one of the best (ever?) PAS weeks in a long long time. It was success across the board and the £20 weekly prize has never felt so well earned!

Twenty five of you scored a sound 30 points or more but the scrap at the top of the pile was mired in injury time joy & pain – a-Maze-ing!

Simon B chipped into the challenge with last minute correct scores thanks to Coventry and Wilf at Southampton, only to find he was undone by Sheff U the night before.

John N saw Palace, Villa and Leicester gift him 13 points at 90+ minutes. Alas, Sheff U and Coventry did for him…

Howard T probably rushed out to put his numbers on as Sheff U (94’), Palace (91’), Villa (93’) and Stoke (94’) netted a hefty 18 last minute points haul. Alas, Coventry’s 91st minute consolation ended that witchcraft…

Martin S crept up on the blind side benefiting from Coventry’s goal but ultimately rueing Sheffield Utd’s 94th minute, totally unnecessary, cherry on the cake third on Friday night.

So, that left our winner ironically cursing Zaha’s 91st minute winner AND that Coventry goal but revelling in an ex-City striker landing a super Sunday 5 points at Spurs in the 91st minute!

Pete Britton 39 (6) you’ve Kelechi Iheanacho to thank for putting you that vital point clear – you know his middle name is Promise, right?!

Back in the real world where last minute goals ALWAYS go against you (yes, I know I got the Spurs one this week but, really, you should see the list of last minute crimes against good honest correct scores I’ve got written down in RED PEN AND UNDERLINED!) it was a chore as usual.

Five PASers couldn’t get more than 15 points and four people didn’t record a single correct score (imagine!)

On a bum note, bringing up the rear this week is the guitar strumming Rowan Marriott 13 (0).

Roland! You need to get out of your shed, fella!

Correct Score of the Week:

My word…most popular score was Tottenham’s 3-1 win over Leicester – 22 of us got that!

Twenty got Millwall 3 Peterborough 0

7 lapped up the injury time joy of Middlesbro 3 Stoke 1

Five(!) doffed a cap to City’s 0-4 deconstruction of Dirty Leeds

4 nabbed the form book upsetting Man Utd 3 Brentford 0

Four more got the 1-3 PNE win over Barnsley

Ben McK & Howard T were well away with the 1-3 away win for Sheff U

Nick H & Mike K somehow stumbled on Sheff Wed 4 Portsmouth 1 (how????)

Kate S made us all green by happening upon Newcastle 0-1 Liverpool

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Best Correct Score of the Season, goes to Greg Fleming for his if-I-continue-to-commit-to-mad-scores-then-mad-scores-will happen inspired, Nottingham Forest 5 Swansea City 1!

Bet of the Week:

Martin Stafford was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 10 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

Danny Ashworth was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 11 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Martin’s left field darts selection went West…

Michael van Gerwen to beat James Wade – missed the board

Joe Cullen to beat Gerwyn Price – hit the wire and bounced out

Jonny Clayton to beat Peter wright – bullseye

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th leaving it on £3 – meh.

Danny, on the other hand, smashed in a full house!

“Let’s banish the curse of the early kick off…”

Liverpool to win at Newcastle – tick

Preston to win at Barnsley – tick

Sheff Wed to dispatch Pompey – boom!

So, £10.85 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th leaving it on £21.42 – finally, the dream for the BotW slot is realised!!

Lee Taylor is at 33rd this week….

Mr T, I need your 3 team selection by Friday evening, please!

Let’s go out as we meant to go on!

Table News:

Freedom:

Ben Hogwood still has top spot, but now only a retrievable (?) 5 points ahead of debutant John N, who in turn is three points clear of Pete B in third…

One crashed the Top Ten.

Know Your Enemy:

Tim Payne slides one place to the bottom, six points behind Joanne McK, who in turn is 2 correct scores off Patricia F

Go on Mum! Show ‘em that Katie Taylor isn’t the only girl from Bray who can scrap!

Ahem.

PAS will be, and always has been, impartial during season time…

Take The Power Back:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 21 places is Lily Templeton – honourable mentions go to Martin S (+20), Damian H (+17), Howard T (+14) and Justin C (+15)

Wake Up:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 15 places is Chris Dixon – dishonourable mentions go to Dan H (-13), Rob C (-12), Danny A (-10), George T (-10) and Dave C (-10)

* yes, a diary. With real writing done with a pen in it – it sits next to my “teams I hate for scoring injury time goals” logbook…

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 11 round up

“Mate…”

New Sensation:

Well, that was a weekend, eh?

My mate Granit slamming in a worldy to put Man Yoo to bed?! As Thom Yorke would say, “for a minute there, I lost myself..”

Meanwhile, after falling back down from Cloud 9, the predictions game, for most of us, still proved harder than scoring from 12 yards.

Only 11 punters scored 30 points or more and from that melee, our weekly £20 prize winner emerged with perhaps the lowest winning score ever (Dan! Dave! Run the SQLs!)

Tom Wooldridge-Stevens 35 (5) edged home virtue of a point given to him by the correctly predicted WBA shut out or the Millwall 98th minute eqaulising penalty or Chelsea’s 90th minute face saving winner.

Which one Tom?

And well done on your second-in-a-season taste of prize money!

Bitter Tears:

So, it was grim at the top, so what about the bottom?

You could argue it wasn’t all bad as only FOUR players scored 15 points or less.

Five managed zero correct scores.

But this meant Justin Corliss 13 (0) brought up the rear with probably the highest worst weekly score ever. (Dan! Dave…)

Unlucky J!

Correct Score of the Week:

Weirdly, it was all quite good…most popular score was Swansea’s 1-1 draw with Middlesbro – 19 of us got that!

Seventeen just knew Motherwell would score against Rangers for a 1-3

11 revelled in the Xhaka schadenfreude of Arsenal’s also-ran Cup Final victory over Utd

Seven got Brighton’s “Desmond” with JWP

Joanne McK & TomW-S got the dull-all at The Hawthorns

Matt W & Sam A thrilled at the thrilling Dundee Utd 2 Hearts 3

Neil O banked the five points on offer for the 2-2 betwixt Birmingham & Millwall

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Best Correct Score of the Season, goes to Mike Krasnowski for his children’s-laughter-not-screams-is-the-energy inspired, Man City 5 Watford 1!

Bet of the Week:

Martin Stafford was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 10 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He went way left field with a darts selection, which is great, but the matches aren’t til Thursday!

So we’ll have a double update next week…

Danny Ashworth is at 45th this week….

Danielsan, I need your 3 team selection by Friday evening, please!

You get another go to make amends….

Table News:

Taste It:

Ben Hogwood stays top of the shop, now 7 points ahead of Simon Lindq, who in turn is three points clear of Anders H

Three crashed the Top Ten.

Disappear:

Patricia Fernandez is still bottom, but now only one point behind Tim P, who in turn is 1 point off Greg F

Never Tear Us Apart:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping(?!) 14 places are David Goggin & Neil Osborne – honourable mentions go to Tom W-S (+10), Rich L (+10), Matthew M (+11) and Dan W (+10)

Mystify:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 13 places is Justin Corliss – dishonourable mentions go to Ben McK (-8), Chris D (-8), and Bijay L (-8)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 10 round up

“Let the train cause the pain…”

Touched By The Hand Of Cicciolina:

Usually I have to spend hours (HOURS!) thinking up clever, witty ways to break the news how the week was won, do actual research into who predicted what & source which last minute goal tipped the scales in whose favour…yep, it’s hard work over this side folks!

Well, I managed a week off this week as Richard Hirst 38 (6) absolutely walked it this week leaving his nearest rival a good 7 points in his wake! £20 coming your way Tricky – 96th minute consolation goals at MK Dons, eh?!!

ps – 4 bods got 30 points or more…

Wise Up! Sucker:

Innit ‘oribble when Mr 2-0 beats your weekly score after you’ve toiled & laboured for hours (HOURS!) when a simple default would’ve sufficed. The “default” got 23 points this week – that’s eleven more than me – hmmmppph!

Still, our man Down Under, Paul Carter 8 (0) did the decent thing and defaulted the blushes of Joanne McK

Bet his galahs are flaming though…

ps – 9 poor souls got zero correct scores

Correct Score of the Week:

We might as well change this game to “predict-a-XP Goals”…most popular score was Brentford’s 1-2 win at Watford – 24 of youse got that!

Four got the dull-all in Boscombe

Four more somehow stumbled on Man City 2 Liverpool 3 (how????)

Ben McK & Richard H thrilled at the thrilling MK Dons 2 Sheffield Wednesday 3

Martin S revelled in the schadenfreude of Arsenal’s poor poor show

Luke S revelled in the schadenfreude of Spurs being Spurs

Frankie F nabbed the form book upsetting Stoke 0 Bristol City 1

Gareth M lapped up the injury time joy of Sheff Utd 1 Reading 2

Reagon K was all over the Bank Holiday Monday 0-3 to the Bournemouth

Neil C celebrated the bore draw between Plymouth & Sunderland

Justin C got Huddersfield’s “Desmond” with QPR

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Norman Lee for his he’s-gonna-do-it-again-isn’t-he inspired, CR7 3 Norwich 2!

Bet of the Week:

Frankie Fernandez was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 9 so we asked her to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

The phone’s gone…

“I’m going for 3 draws cos “wins” are boring –
Palace-Chelsea
City – Liverpool
Hull – Cardiff”

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 83rd leaving it on £0.93 – ooops!

Damian H & Martin S are at 60th this week….first out the hat was Martin!

Mr S, I need your 3 team selection by Friday evening, please!

Need some of that northern soul sparkle mate…

Table News:

Can U Dig It?:

Ben Hogwood slides up 3 places to the summit, 5 points ahead of Simon Lindq, who in turn is four points clear of John N

No one crashed the Top Ten!

Def Con One.:

Patricia Fernandez is still bottom, but now only three points behind Tim P, who in turn is 1 point off Joanne McK

Everything’s Cool:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 21 places is Richard Hirst – honourable mentions go to Ben McK (+15), Charlie H (+11), and John J (+11)

Karmadrome:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 21 places is Paul Carter – dishonourable mentions go to Lee T (-19), Rob C (-12), Ryan G (-11), and Tony M (-12)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 9 round up

“Congrats Unai, you’ve passed your audition…what? Oh.”

Wet Dream:

Sorry, yes, I know, i’m very late AGAIN this week,  so i’ll cut to the chase…

Only five punters scored 30 points or more perfectly illustrating what a rubbish week it was.

One Swede (not a turnip!) took full advantage as the rest of us had a “fika moment” though, courtesy of the 93rd minute penalty for QPR at PNE. Those four points and made all the difference!

Simon Lindquist 39 (6), spending your second of the season £20 weekly prize on delights from the smorgasbord?!

Oh No:

Meanwhile, it was as equally abject at the other end of the table.

Twenty one players couldn’t break the 15 point marker and nine couldn’t muster a correct score.

It was a twin effort of maximum failure though this week, with Simon (not that one, this one) Lindsay and Greg Fleming 8 (0) begging for more at the soup kitchen of points…

Correct Score of the Week:

Ugh…most popular score was Swansea’s 2-1 win over Derby– 26 of youse got that!

Seventeen banked the five points on offer for the 2-2 betwixt City & Liverpool

Nine landed on  the two-two in Dundee. The right side of Dundee…

6 were grateful for the 3-1 Jambo win over Hibs

Six more made us all green by happening upon St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

Bijay L believed in Hull. A 0-1 kinda belief…

Luke S nabbed the form book upsetting Everton 1 Man Utd 0

Anders H nailed Livingston 2 Motherwell 2

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Matt Worsfold for his you-look-neat-talk-about-a-treat inspired, Port Vale 3 Oldham 2!

Bet of the Week:

Mark Seels was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 8 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

I think he got confused.

“Arsenal, Leeds & Burnley to finish in the Top 3 of the Grand National! Or, all to win…”
Arsenal – we’ve gone all Spursy
Leeds – they’ve gone all Barcy
Burnley – they’ve gone down..hopefully

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd leaving it on £10.33 – shame.

Francesca Fernandez is at 83rd this week….

Frankie, I need your 3 team selection tomorrow, please!

If you don’t win i’m taking your phone off you for 78 days…

Table News:

Chaise Lounge:

Simon Lindquist springs 9 places to the top, 1 point ahead of John N, who in turn is four points clear of Neil M

One (!) crashed the Top Ten!

Ur Mum:

Patricia Fernandez stays rooted to the bottom, now ten points behind Tim P, who in turn is 3 points off Greg F…and Croydon wails.

Loving You:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 23 places is Ben McKeown – honourable mentions go to Ric P (+21), and Dan W (+10)

Piece of Sh*t:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 20 places are Simon (not that one, this one) Lindsay & Chris Webber – dishonourable mentions go to David G (-13), Paul V (-11), Jack B (-10), and Simon B (-11)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 8 round up

“Congrats Paddy, you’ve passed your final audition…”

Oh Yeah:

Sorry, yes, I know, i’m very late this week so i’ll cut to the chase…

Only eight punters scored 30 points or more this week so it was tight at the top.

One canary (in a goalmine!) flew highest though via the 99th & 90th minute goals at Coventry & Peterborough respectively. They combined to give him a whopping 13 points and made all the difference!

Ben Hogwood 38 (5) spending your £20 weekly prize on a delight from Delia?!

Both Ends Burning:

Meanwhile, it was equally as tight at the other end of the table.

Sixteen players could break the 15 point marker and seven couldn’t muster a correct score.

It was a triptych of abject failure though this week, with Jason (or is it Tony?) Morris, Rich Lee and my mum 11 (0) choking and gasping for air…

Correct Score of the Week:

Scant…most popular score was Derby’s 1-0 win over PNE – 19 of us got that!

Six turned up Brighton 0 Norwich 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

5 nailed Coventry 2 Blackburn 2

Ben H & Reagon K somehow stumbled on Peterborough 0 Middlesbro 4 (how????)

Richard H & David G said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for their Bournemouth 3 Bristol City 2

Dom W landed on  the two-two in Dundee. The wrong side of Dundee…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Paul Carter for his I-predict-a-riot inspired, Luton 2 Millwall 2!

Bet of the Week:

Ric Pardoe was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 7 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We’re gonna build a statue of this lad!

Another full house from the Stockport Selector…

“I’ve backed these three with the remaining 97p in my William Hill (other money draining bookies are available) account…”
Mansfield to beat Northampton – nervy 1-0
Sunderland to beat Gillingham – very nervy 1-0, 95th minute winner!
Halifax to beat Wealdstone – Mr 2-0 was on it”

So, £10.62 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th – whoop whoop!

Mark Seels is at 33rd this week….

Seelsy, I need your 3 team selection by Friday, please!

This is the “The Syndicate’s” game – can you be like Ric ?!

Table News:

Over You:

Pete Britton leaps 4 places to the top, 2 points ahead of Ben H, who in turn is four points clear of Simon B & John N

Two crashed the Top Ten!

Same Old Scene:

Patricia Fernandez stays bottom, now eight points behind Tim P, who in turn is 6 points off Will O…and Croydon weeps.

Dance Away:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping(!) 16 places is Chris Webber – honourable mentions go to Jazz S (+13), Chris D (+13), Pete H (+15), and Mark S (+11)

More Than This:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 21 places is Rich Lee – dishonourable mentions go to Tony M (-15), Matthew M (-12), and Dan H (-10)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 7 round up

 “Avengers end game…”

This Is A Call:

‘Twas a thrilling week so it ’twas (no, I don’t know why i’m speaking like that either…) and most thrilled (of the 30 who 30 point plussed) was Neil Meredith 41 (7) who just sneaked past the unlucky Dom W (thanks to that late Portuguese goal on Thursday!) to lay claim to this week’s £20.

Well done la, a fine win in a bizarre but enjoyable International Week!

Runcorn and her triptych of bridges will be so proud …#wool

Monkey Wrench:

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, the quest to bridge the gap was  in vain.

Only 7 didn’t notch a correct score though!

However, a sub 15 point score this week is going to hurt you…

Tim Payne 11 (0) must be in stitches…#ouch!

Correct Score of the Week:

And breathe…most popular score was Argentina’s 3-0 win over Venezuela– 24 of youse got that!

Fourteen got the very annoying last minute spoiling (but also very pleasing) Portugal 3 Turkey 1

7 got the dull-all for Doha in Accra

Six banked the five points on offer for the 2-2 betwixt Hartlepool & Mansfield

4 got 4 goal demolition of Chile by Brazil

Paul C celebrated the bore draw between Bradford & Newport

Mike K had his secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate in Stockholm

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Bijay Lama for his there’s-a-moose-loose-about-this-hoose inspired, Canada 4 Jamaica 0!

Bet of the Week:

Dom Webber was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 6 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He was either off foraging for Spurs v Toon tickets and forgot or was keeping his spot on predictions for himself!
He’s a lovely lad — I hope he got his tickets…

So, £3 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th – up and running!

Danny Ashworth & Ric Pardoe are at 45th this week….first out the hat was the “hot on National League”, Ric P!

Ricardo, I need your 3 team selection by Friday, please!

More of the same as the other week please mate!

Table News:

Best Of You:

Jason Morris (or is it Tony?!) stays top, now 5 points ahead of Anders H, who in turn is four points clear of Simon B

Two crashed the Top Ten!

Everlong:

Patricia Fernandez stays bottom, four points behind Greg F, who in turn is 3 points off Tim P

Learn To Fly:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping(!) 17 places is Dom Webber – honourable mentions go to Chris W (+14), Ben H (+16), Chris D (+15), Matthew M (+14), Mark S (+14) and Debbie L (+14)

Times Like These:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 23 places is Ben McKeown – dishonourable mentions go to Peter M (-16), Danny A (-17), David G (-18), John K (-15), and Rowan M (-16)

And Another Thing:

“Remember, kids, violence is never the answer, especially if it’s going to subject everyone to a full week of hot takes, polarised op-eds and memes. Oh Will! How could you! The Fiver is also sad that the incident has instantly become the most famous and notorious on-stage hand-jaw-interface scenario in history, eclipsing that time Jerry Sadowitz took to the stage in Montreal and opened with “I tell you why I hate Canada, half of you speak French, and the other half let them” with predictable consequences…” – The Fiver

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 6 round up

 “Wembley Semi Final tifo incoming….”

Connection:

It was a proper bun fight for the weekly prize going into Sunday with as many as eleven contenders vying for the crown (over 20 players scored 30 points or more, btw) – and, at one point, we were considering our first debutant double weekly winner…Imagine! Jeeez.

Neil O was sitting pretty with his City 9 pointer but failed to capitalise and Richard H & Scott H were both up there but ultimately left angrily pounding the ground with St Johnstone 92nd minute hate.

Why?

Tom Wooldridge 41 (6) popped up happy clapping Son’s 88th minute goal that 5 pointed him all the way to the bank. £20 Tom – you’ve got Spurs to thank!

Personally, I think it was Bukayo’s winner at Villa that sealed it for you…

Blue:

Another medicore clump of a week where only ten PASers scored 15 points or less.

3 of them didn’t get a single correct score (birthday boy Rowan M managed 17 unassisted points!)

So who was left wanting?

Beginners luck is one thing, but beginner’s catastrophe is very much something else…welcome to PAS Luke Stafford 10(0), you’ve truly arrived!

Correct Score of the Week:

I feel sick…most popular score was Leicester’s 2-1 win over Brentford– 28 of us got that!

Seventeen bribed D&D to tinker with the PAS timelapse cog in the back end and waltzed off with Celtic 4 Ross County 0

10 made us all green by happening upon Spurs 3-1 West Ham

Eight just knew Southampton would score against Citeh for a 1-4

Simon Linds, Paul V & Debbie L got the 3-1 Granite City win over Hibs

Matthew M & Dan M were well away with the 1-3 away win for Luton at Hull

Jack B nabbed the form book upsetting Reading 1 Blackburn 0

Tom W-S got the dull-all at Fratton Park

Andy C celebrated the bore draw between Swansea & Birmingham

Martin S turned up Gillingham 0 Sheffield Wednesday 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Howard Thomas for his babby’s-yed-and-pea-wet inspired, Wigan 4 Morecambe 1!

Bet of the Week:

Joanne McKeown was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 5 so we asked her to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

A bit like Sunderland…

“sorry I only keep half an eye on this stuff but I do have my 3 suggestions for the weekly bet:

Sunderland, Portsmouth and Bolton to win… I only look at league one these days!”
Draw – draw – win = nowt
Unlucky though Jo!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 83rd – ooops!

Dom Webber is at 60th this week….

Dommo, I need your Darlo inspired 3 team selection by Friday, please!

You’re following a League 1 fail…on International Week – eeek!

Table News:

2:1:

Jason Morris (or is it Tony?!) stays top, now 3 points ahead of Anders H, who in turn is six points clear of Andy C

Four crashed the Top Ten!

Waking Up:

Patricia Fernandez stays bottom, five points behind Greg F, who in turn is 1 point off Sam O

Line Up:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 22 places are Matthew Stafford & Tom Wooldridge-Stevens – honourable mentions go to Neil O (+21), Ric P (+20), Richard H (+19), and Dan C (+16)

Stutter:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 19 places is Kate Slee – dishonourable mentions go to Mark J B (-17), Andy K (-17), Jamie S (-17), Darren McC (-16), and Martin S (-16)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 Week 5 round up

 “Stamford Bridge is falling down…”

Violently Happy:

Imagine if PAS cost £10 a week to play!

If you won the thing you’d be proper rich, even a weekly prize would be a “let’s get on the lash” amount!

But I suppose only about 3 people would play, so maybe the prize money wouldn’t be eye-watering would it…

Anyway, there were loads of 90th minute goals (and a significant 89th one too) so it made this week even more exciting than it usually is! The standard shot up as well (or did the scores revert to when football was a bit more predictable?!) with 26 players scoring 30 points or more. Some of us got really giddy going into Monday only to have that “one goal out” feeling come 10pm…

Predictz was up there again, Dan H was even up there (see what happens when you actually do your scores Dan?!).

David G & Reagon K laid claims, George T menaced, Neil T rolled back the years and Jamie S threatened to make it proper old skool with his best tally in about a decade!

However, newbie John Nunn 39 (5) used up all that “beginners luck” with 4 x 90th minute goals going his way and he landed a couple of 5 pointers for good measure too.

Well done John, a fine debut season already and the £20 weekly prize is coming your way…i’ll keep schtum on reimbursing you £40 for your PAS entry fee(s) though.    : )

Nunn’s the word eh?!

It’s Oh So Quiet:

You can tell it was a good scoring week by looking at the wrong end of the weekly table.

Only four x no correct scores and nobody with a single figure total!

There always has to be someone propping up the rest though, and Patricia Fernandez 11 (1) takes up a familiar residency as the wild & wacky predictions yet again, fail to deliver…   : (

Mum’s the word eh?!

Correct Score of the Week:

Like feeding time at the zoo…most popular score was Rangers’ 0-3 Cup win at Dundee – 26 of youse got that!

Nineteen were all over the Scottish Cup 0-3 to the Celtic

6 got the dull-all at St Andrews

Another six(!) thrilled at the thrilling Ronaldo 3 Spurs 2

5 celebrated the bore draw between Cardiff & PNE

Four got WBA’s “Desmond” with Huddersfield

Martin S & Kate S secretly had their prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at ‘Wall

Rob C & Dan H we’re so happy for Peterborough 2-2 Stoke, they will actually wear that ballet dress…

Gary B & Julian F will shout out loud about the humbling of Reading by Forest

Bijay L nabbed the form book upsetting Blackburn 0 Bristol City 1

Matt W had the very annoying last minute spoiling Tranmere 3 Mansfield 2

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Mike Krasnowski for his put-some-maple-syrup-on-that inspired,

Port Vale 4 Crowley Town 1!

Bet of the Week:

Ric Pardoe was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 4 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Whoop whoop! We won!

“I’m going all National League this week, channelling the spirit of Frank Sidebottom seeing as my beloved County are riding high again…
Torquay to win
Halifax to win
Wealdstone to win”
they did, 2-3
they did, 2-1 – despite the hapless Dover taking a shock lead…
they did, 3-2

So, £10.33 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd – waaaallloppp! Superb stuff Ricardo – big up!

Joanne McKeown is at 83rd this week….

Joanne, man, I need your “Her name is Rio, cos she dances on the sand…” inspired 3 team selection by Friday, please!

You’re following a big winner…no pressure pet!

Table News:

Army Of Me:

Jason Morris (or is it Tony?!) goes up 3 places to the top, 1 point ahead of Jamie S & Andy C

Five crashed the Top Ten!

Play Dead:

Patricia Fernandez relieves her grandson of his duties in the basement slot, four points behind the aforementioned Greg F, who in turn is 1 correct score off Sam O

Possibly Maybe:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 27 places is Neil Templeton – honourable mentions go to George T (+18), Predictz (+15), John N (+25), David G (+18), Jazz S (+17), Julian F (+15), El Presidente (+15), Dan H (+16) and Reagon K (+18)

Human Behaviour:

Falling furthest this week (cruelly), down a whopping 24 places is Ric Pardoe – dishonourable mentions go to Dom W (-17), Ryan G (-22), Ben H(-23), and Ben McK (-20)

PAS Champions League 2022-23:

In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2022-23 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is Harry Maguire’s dad…Nick Hogwood!

And Another Thing:

Got any Cheltenham tips?

Twitter is dead & so is Instagram – but we’ve got a What’s App group!

Wanna join?

Why?

Well, I send round reminders that you don’t have to check your email for.

Erm…some people are quite funny (some are annoying) & hopefully, we’ll get some good pics of away fans at games.

We will crush any “hilarious GIFs” though…

Plus, you can gloat when you land that 9 pointer in the 91st minute!

Email me over your number and i’ll add ya ([email protected])

Cheers,
