Pab

L13 Winter 2011 : Week 5 Update

“Burst into heaven”:
How apt that in a weekend when Man Yoo have to take some overdue humiliation that a fellow Gooner wins some plaudits and prize money to help put that horrible day in August away to the back. Dave Crisp 33 (5) can now buy £20 of coins to throw at Theo until he’s bleeding to death and takes his clown sized feet away fast as his “legendary” pace will take him from our club – back to provincial lower league football where he belongs and maybe they’ll appreciate him clapping the crowd for 14 minutes when he’s dragged after another predictable, inept, watless performance. No need to ask if you want help throwing them mate! Congrats and viva Carl Jenkinson!
“…smash my dream of love”:
Even his beloved bet-busting Everton couldn’t cheer Sean Peers 9(0). Woeful. But hey, chin up son, every cloud n all that, you’re playing Man Utd next!
Correct Score of the Week:
Man it was desperate… most popular score was Blackburn’s 1-2 with Sp*rs – 19 of you got that!
6 got the 2-3 at London Road, 4 got Wolves’s 2-2 v Swansea and Sam A & Mahli G got West Brom’s 1-2 against Aston Villa.
Anders H & Will O got the 0-1 between Ipswich & Palace, 4 got Portsmouth 3 Doncaster Rovers 1, another 4 got the stalemate at Tannadice and 10 got the 3-1 between The Arsenal and The Cavemen.
However, this week’s best correct score goes to nobody as Julian F’s inspired and fairly obvious in my eyes as the Canaries are a spread betters dream, Liverpool 1 Norwich 1 was some how matched by Francesca F (courtesy of her nan)! Mad…

Table News:

“Looking down on me above”:
Shaun Backhouse goes up two places to top the league 2 points ahead of long time leader Paul V who in turn is 1 point ahead of Sam A in third.
“Seems like there’s a hole in my dreams”:
Josh Hirst stays bottom of the pile now only 2 points behind Rowan M who in turn is two points behind Pete B (like he cares this week!).
“You move in right away”:
Highest climber this week, up a whopping 22 places is Matt Gingell – honourable mentions go to Richard H (+11), Charlie H (+11), Isaac A (+11), Will O (+18), Anders H (+16) and Julian F (+11)
“I can’t stop coming down”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 15 places is Danny Bushell – dishonourable mentions go to Simon B (-14), Jamie T (-12), Clare T (-12), Michelle F (-13), and Sean P (-11)
PAS Cup 2012:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2012, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is…a humbled Red – Tony Morris.
Bet of the Week:
Oh so close! The “homes” and “aways” went by the wayside as per normal, but on 90 mins we had 3 draws in, then Everton decided to score two – boo! Next up is Mr Crisp – we need something tasty Dave!
PAS Champions League 2011/12:

And Another Thing:
Please be aware sending your scoresheet via iPhone or Android is causing problems when applied to the matrix – correct scores are not being picked up! (but we do check, but it is a pain!) Where you can, always send your scores as a Word doc attachment…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2011 : Week 5 BotW

BotW this week comes from Tony Morris…

Aways:
Werder Bremen, Tottenham, Birmingham and Southampton @ 23/1
Draws:
Wolves V Swansea, Fulham V Everton, Motherwell V Kilmarnock @ 37/1

Have a tickle on the 12 timer, it pays a mouthwatering 19,862.85-1. It’s gotta beat working???

Let’s all go on Paddy Power and put a £1 on that – we might create a media storm of irregular betting patterns!

Result: LOSE!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2011 : Week 4 Champions League update…

Week 5 scoresheet back by Blondie time on Saturday (Google “Parallel Lines” if you’re not old enough for this reference and then make sure you take note and listen!)

BotW to follow – it’s a corker!

Cheers,
Pab

PS – Rowan M maybe floundering behind Frankie in the league table but he nailed a 29/1 treble this evening – Olympiacos/Arsenal/Leicester!

L13 Winter 2011 : Week 4 Roundup

“You bet your life it is”:
More sibling rivalry & baiting is ensured as will Jason M’s standing in the “Syndicate (“Ref! Ref! REF! Sub. Josh H, you’re on son. Jase.. Jase? JAAASE! Don’t ignore me. Don’t kick that water bottle! Sit there! There! Where you going?! Wher-don’t go down that tunnel son or you’re finished…) Sorry. Erm, yeah, Tony Morris 34(6) claimed this week’s £20 in a fiercely contested week…
“This is not really happening”:
Yet another unpredictable week scuppered most people’s scores (and accumulator bets!) more so, Rowan Marriott 9(0) who was left floundering and flapping. Well, his second kid is due anytime now – he’s probably practicing his hand holding technique rather than studying form… Bless.
Correct Score of the Week:
A few, a few… – most popular score was St Johnstone’s 2-0 v Inverness Cally – 24 of you got that!
5 got the 2-2 at the Cardiff City Stadium, 19 got Chelski’s 3-1 v Everton and 13 got Newcastle 2 Spurs 2.
Vim G, Steve T & Will O got Leeds’s 0-3 against Doncaster R, Norman L/Martin S/Charlie H got the 4-1 between Man City & A Villa and Sam A & Tony S got Norwich City 3 Swansea City 1
Simon Linds got Coventry’s 1-0 victory over The Reds.
However, this week’s best correct score goes to Jason Morris for his inspired, Brighton & H A 0 Hull City 0.

Table News:

“And the man with the golden gun thinks he knows so much”:
Paul Vinson stays top for a fourth week (will he do a Tony Bowley??!) and now goes 10 points ahead of Jamie S who in turn is 2 points ahead of Shaun B in third.
“Things are getting kind of gross”:
Josh Hirst stays bottom of the pile 12 points behind Rowan M who in turn is five points behind li’l Frankie F (ahhh).
“Thought that was a good solution”:
Highest climber this week, up a whopping 27 places is Louise Briggs – honourable mentions go to Dave C (+19), Simon Linds (+18), Jason M (+20), Rob C (+20) and Tony M (+26)
“Givin us a yo heave ho”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 21 places is Mat Jackson (I hope you’re sorry Mat Jackson..) – dishonourable mentions go to Mahli G (-17), Eric A (-18), Andy C (-19), Sean P (-15), and Francesca F (-20)
PAS Cup 2012:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2012, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… Manchester legend – Eric Allison.
Bet of the Week:
Shaun B stepped up and fell on all three fronts in quite spectacular fashion for BotW slot 49th… can Tony M do any better??! Will it be third time lucky for the “Syndicate”?
PAS Champions League 2011/12:
Matchday 2 results below – tables to follow… we’re, erm, still having teething problems. Safe to say, I lost my “derby” to a much prettier face (yeah, granted, difficult to imagine..) and Group D really is proving to be the “death” of me. On a brighter note the PAS equivalent of the Gallaghers had a right ol’ ding-dong but the Croydon face off turned out to be a damp squib (innit)
Group A
Tony Morris 34(6) Jason Morris 29(4) / Olly Osmond 24(2) Stuart Longworth 14(1)
Group B
Shaun Backhouse 21(2) Josh Hirst 18(3) / Richard Hirst 25(4) Neil Osborne 20(2)
Group C
Danny Ashworth 28(4) Nick Hogwood 23(3) / Matt Gingell 23(4) Neil Meredith 24(3)
Group D
Dan Pelgrom 14(1) Neil Templeton 21(2) / Clare Templeton 28(3) Pab 17(1)
Group E
Tony Bowley 22(2) Norman Lee 25(3) / Mahli Gupta 14(1) Jazz Sian 24(2)
Group F

Group G
Scott Harrison 24(4) Ben Hogwood 13(0) / Dave Nicklin 19(1) Pete Britton 20(3)
Group H
Jamie Sellers 33(6) Rich Lee 21(2) / Will Oppong 17(1) Mark Fawke 19(2)
And Another Thing:
Martin S got 6 correct scores this week… from only 7 correct results! Maybe some sort of record – I’ll get Motty on the phone…

Cheers,
Pab

Bet of the Week comes from Shaun Backhouse, he’s aiming to win some more money for himself and BotW spot prize slot 49th…

L13 Winter 2011 : Week 3 Roundup

“I’m stuck with a valuable friend”:
Man, what a week of two halves eh? I mean, we had a scouser crowing on Saturday and then a Yorkshireman storming through on Tuesday! Ou est les Londresners?
Shaun Backhouse 49 (8) really put a marker down in the “syndicate” circles (Jason M, you’re in for another barracking mate!) and came through on the final 15 games to take this week’s £20 – well done Shaun, betting it on the Steel City derby are we?!
“Oh no, don’t say it’s true”:
A bit like a plucky Championship side mixing it with the big boys, Josh Hirst 12(0) is starting to feel the pace and rapidly going backwards… chin up son, at least you’re “Champions League”!
Correct Score of the Week:
Not that bad considering – most popular score was France’s 3-0 win over Albania – 26 of us got that!
17 got the 1-3 in Istanbul, Louise B & Jazz S got the Red Devil’s 4-1 v Kazakhstan and 19 got the Germans efficient 3-1 v Belgium.
Mahli G, Matt W & Olly O got the 6-0 between Russia & Andorra and 12 got Moldova’s 4-0 win over San Marino. 4 got Wales’s 0-1 in Sofia, 8 got (sob) Denmark 2 Portugal 1 and 5 got Norway 3-1 Cyprus.
23 got the Azzurri’s 3-0 v Norn Iron and 13 got Espana 3 Escosia 1.
Matt W got Sweden 3 Holland 2 – remarkable…
However, this week’s best correct score and now best of the season, goes to Julian Fernandez for his inspired, albeit insane, Cyprus 1 Denmark 4.
Bet of the Week:
Some things never change and yep, you guessed it, the curse of the weekly winner failing to win us some money continues. Mr 2-0 (“The Syndicate”) crashed and burned on all three fronts for BotW slot 33rd… can Shaun B do any better??!

Table News:

“Strung out in heaven’s high”:
Paul Vinson stays top for a third week (he’s looking good this boy!) and goes 6 points ahead of Shaun B who in turn is 9 points ahead of Olly O in third.
“The shrieking of nothing is killing”:
Josh Hirst plummets to the bottom of the pile 14 points behind Stephen S who in turn is one correct score behind Martin S.

PAS Cup 2012:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2012, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… a happy Hotspur – Simon Lindsay.
PAS Champions League 2011/12:
Matchday 2 fixtures as follows – a brothers derby, a Croydon derby, a best-looking-in-PAS derby…
Group A
Tony Morris v Jason Morris / Olly Osmond v Stuart Longworth
Group B
Shaun Backhouse v Josh Hirst / Richard Hirst v Neil Osborne
Group C
Danny Ashworth v Nick Hogwood / Matt Gingell v Neil Meredith
Group D
Dan Pelgrom v Neil Templeton / Clare Templeton v Pab
Group E
Tony Bowley v Norman Lee / Mahli Gupta v Jazz Sian
Group F
Michelle Fernandez v Jamie Tofeili / Jon Tofeili v Rob Currin
Group G
Scott Harrison v Ben Hogwood / Dave Nicklin v Pete Britton
Group H
Jamie Sellers v Rich Lee / Will Oppong v Mark Fawke
And Another Thing:
Was Wayne’s dad on it again??! Even after all the viral jokes?! Really??!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2011 : Week 3 Update…

Alex Rossi way out front after 15 games on 32(6) – best points tally of the season on the cards? Sean P & Andy C continue the chase on 27 (5) & (4) respectively and Steve T & Jazz S are well placed on 25 points…

At the other end Josh H is struggling again on 7(0) with Mr 2-0 and his 8 disciples not faring much better on 8 pts (ha!)

Bet of the Week failed on all 3 fronts yet again (boo!) and if like me, you had a few pennies on England, you’ll be ruing Rooney’s red-mist/instructions – from-dad moment and counting the cost!

Still, Mark S and myself will be collecting from Richard H courtesy of a fine Wales performance in the QF on Sat morning!

Week 4 scoresheet is up on this site now and Week 3 round up on Thursday(ish).

Cheers,
Pab

Result: LOSE!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2011 : Week 2 Roundup

Don’t. Push. Me. Cos. I’m. Close. To. The. Edge…

Woeful week for football (well me anyway) – and it’s “marmite” week for Week 3!

If you haven’t paid yet, you really need to mes amigos…

“I have all that I need…”:
Many moons ago the Board sat down in PAS Towers (original Sarf London innit address) and had one of those “what if..” discussions. “What if someone ran off with all the entry money?” “What if someone actually could prove Jazz Sian doesn’t exist and our scam was up?” “What if girls wanted to play?” to name but a few. Another was “What if Mr 2-0 won a week?” Hmmmm. “It’ll never happen this millennium – now stop worrying and fetch me another one those Guinness & double port cocktails… ” I probably hiccupped. Well, I was right but it has actually happened this millennium – this week in fact! Mr 2-0, after years of derision and the occasional lower-end spot prize win, has scooped the £20. The six lackadaisical PASers (including a Board member!) will probably lay claim to £2.86, but f*ck them, there can be no reward for tardiness! And anyway, we said back then that anything Mr 2-0 wins will go to the first homeless person we see, and we’ve always stuck by that. So, prepare for some YouTube footage of me making five jakeys dance like performing bears to fix their chosen habit for, oooh, at least a day…
“Tell me what’s wrong with my brain”:
Oh dear! We thought he had a ’mare last week but then we doubled checked and it was actually us who had the ’mare! Alas, Josh Hirst 9(0) definitely really absolutely has had a ’mare in Week 2 – sorry Josh!
Correct Score of the Week:
Another round of fine predicting – most popular score was Villa’s 2-0 win over Wigan – 32 of us got that!
6 got the 0-2 at Goodison, 5 got Palace’s 2-2 v West Ham and 6 got AFC Wimbledon’s 3-1 against Gillingham.
Jamie T / Neil B / Andy C got the 0-4 between Blackburn & Man City and Rowan M / Neil B (again!) / Andy C got Sunderland 2 West Brom 2.
Gary B / Neil O / Mahli G got Ipswich Town 3 Brighton & HA 1 and Reda A / Dave C got Peterboro 1 Doncaster 2.
Jamie T (again!) / Howard T / Tony B got the 5 points on offer at Reading and Paul C / Simon B / Danny B filled their boots courtesy of Motherwell’s 1-3 at Tannadice.
Norman L / Charlie H got Forest’s woeful result at home to Birmingham.
However, this week’s best correct score goes to Ellen Fernandez for her very brave Kilmarnock 1 St Johnstone 2.
Bet of the Week:
Some things never change and yep, you guessed it, the curse of the weekly winner failing to win us some money strikes again! Paul V crashed and burned on all three fronts… can Mr 2-0 do any better??!

Table News:

“I, I can’t take things slowly”:
Paul Vinson stays top and goes 8 points clear of Ellen F who in turn is 3 points ahead of Vim G in third.
“Please, please come and save me”:
Ooops! Mark Seels goes down 4 places to the bottom of the pile three points behind Matt W & Rowan M.
“I try so hard to be happy”:
Highest climber this week, up a whopping 40 places is Mat Jackson – honourable mentions go to Dave N (+34), Mark J B (+36), Mr 2-0 (+36), Toby S (+37), Jamie T (+38) and Steve T (+39)
“’Cause something goes wrong once again”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 44 places is Francesca Fernandez – dishonourable mentions go to Sean P (-32), Will O (-38), Paul H (-31), Gareth M (-30), Martin S (-33) and Josh H (-41)
PAS Champions League 2011/12:
We’re off and running (well, some are…) – see attached for full round up by clicking on the “current” tab
PAS Cup 2012:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2012 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… new boy, Simon Buxton.
And Another Thing:
Not paid yet?! Get your payment across as soon as please! The list of shame will be published next week…

Gonna be away in future weeks? Well, you’ll be able to find scoresheets up to and including Week 6 on this very site!

Cheers,
Pab
