PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’17 Week 1 round up

“Yep, as impressive as my score this week…”

Magpie Eyes: I did my scores from NYC this week & even going back in time couldn’t halt my demise. I blame it on that confusion. And Americans with guns. And Duane Reade. And the full length of Broadway. And Coors Light. And the 90-degree heat. And Guinness. And “Farmer Boy” breakfasts. And the tourists surrounding the “Bull”. And American football. And Tibetan monks in Central Park.

I don’t blame Williamsburg though – I was on Modelo there…

Anyway, one person quite clearly not in the US of A this weekend was me ol’ China Matt Worsfold 35 (5) who deftly picked debutant child prodigy Tyler G’s pocket just like the Fagin-schooled Eastender that he is –  cor blimey guv’nor!

Poor Tyler (he’s of south London stock, he’ll bounce back) has Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko to growl at for denying him a weekly win courtesy of his 91st minute goal in Huddersfield. The irony of Spurs helping out a ‘Appy ‘Ammer ain’t lost on me, nor Mr W I’m sure…

So, congrats Maffew, £20 winging it’s way back to you ASAP – should secure you a Championship season ticket for next season mate…*cheeky tongue out emoji*

Dive: Did you score 16 points + this week? Wow, I’m in awe…

33 of us couldn’t manage more than 15 points this week and sixteen of us couldn’t muster a correct score between us! Shocking.

Not as shocking as Everton though eh? The team I backed to be top at Christmas (yeah, I have a real instinct about the Premier League) appear to be trying their best to make sure Yannick Bolasie doesn’t miss being at Palace.

One Toffee feeling it more than most though is Andy Fowler 8 (0) who couldn’t even breach the double-digit mark – come ‘ead Andy lad, did you put in too many number 10s like Ronald??!

Correct Score of the Week:

It’s gonna be one of those season’s again…most popular score was Man Yoo’s 4-0 drubbing of Palace – 23 of youse got that!

8  got the five-point 3-0 between Aberdeen & St Johnstone

5 got the dull-all Grimsby v Lincoln

4 got very very annoying but patently obvious Huddersfield 0 Spurs 4

Darren McC (welcome back!), Paul C & Tony D got the 3 goal demolition of Partick (by Motherwell)

Alex R & Debbie L got the bore draw between Cardiff & Derby

Neil T & Martin S nailed Bournemouth 0 Leicester 0

Bill P pulled a plum with Everton 0-1 Burnley

Danny A just knew Man City would score at Chelsea

Sam Craig obviously guessed Ross County would win 0-2 at Kilmarnock

Neil O got the first “Desmond” of the season – PNE v Sunderland

Neil T got the 2nd “Desmond” of the season – WBA v Watford

Howard T smashed in a 0-4 via Burton hosting Wolves

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Patricia Fernandez for her i’m-the-real-one-not-the-Corrie-one inspired, Celtic 2 Hibs 2! Slainte!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 90 odd of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

I couldn’t get a bet on cos i was in New York – soz!

No, not them…

Life In Tokyo”: You can tell it’s the holiday season – people put down crazy scores, crazy scores come in. Mr 2-0 is oversubscribed as people “forget” or drift off into an alcoholic abyss with little chance of predicting succour. Form goes out the window & “coupon busters” are celebrated by bookies across the country. So how do you combat this perennial problem?

I don’t care – I wooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssssssssssss!

Sorry. It doesn’t happen very often, I forget how to celebrate… *wheels off doing the Mick Channon windmill arm *

So, as Harry M netted in the 94th minute v Man Yoo to deny me 4 points AND Stoke’s youngest ever PL scorer denying me another 3 points in the 95th minute, I was ready for a proper good sulk.

But the miracle of Christmas left Stephen P, Jerry S & Andy K all 1 point behind me and the last weekly “Patrick” was mine! Mine!!!

Pab 38 (6)

Ding dong (merrily on high)!

I’d like to thank Gary Bowyer for instilling the hunger & desire in his Blackpool team to keep going until the very last kick….

Here’s the science bit – 15 of us managed 30 points or more.

Merry Christmas!

Quiet Life”: It’s Christmas, there are crazy scores expected and there’s last minute shopping to be done. Why bother doing your scores?

Paul C & Danny B are wondering just that in a week where 28 bods only managed 15 points or less.

Someone who really didn’t have a Danny this week was Danny Ashworth 9 (0) – and if you’ve seen his Sky Super 6 performance this season you’ll be as baffled as him!

Correct Score of the Week:

Some crackers here…most popular score was Man City’s 4-0 title winning win v Bournemouth– 27 of youse got that!

Eleven got very annoying last minute spoiling Leicester 2 Man Utd 2

7 got Celtic’s 3-0 deconstruction of The Dons

Seven more got the five point Aston Villa v Sheffield United 2-2

6 got the dull-all at McDiarmid Park

Five got Derby 3 Millwall 0

Will O, Sam A & Kyle B got the bore draw between Newport & Lincoln

Paul V & Ryan G believed in Kilmarnock. A 2-1 kinda belief…

Predictz somehow guessed Everton 0 Chelsea 0

Stephen P got the thrilling West Ham 2 Newcastle Utd 3

However, this week’s best correct score, and now best correct score of the season, goes to George Triantafillou for his I-couldn’t-let-a-kid-take-this-accolade inspired, Arsenal 3 Liverpool 3!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 97 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

Bah humbug!

Sheff Wed v Boro (54.93%) – adios Carlos!

Stoke v WBA (46.48%) – adios Super Al…

Brighton v Watford (39.44%) – adios Marco?

So, £7.55 sits on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th!

Table News:

The Art Of Parties”: Two crashed the Top Ten and highest climber this week, up a whopping 26 places is Darren McCarthy – honourable mentions go to Andy K (+25), Jerry S (+24), Stephen P (+22), Ryan G (+22), Neil O (+19), Savan A (+19) and Ben McK (+18)

Visions Of China”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 18 places is Danny Ashworth – dishonourable mentions go to Eddie O (-16), Paul C (-15), Rich L (-14), Harry H (-13), James L (-13) and Danny B (-13)

Full season update is imminent once I can work out what day it is and when i’m due back from my New Year travels…

Actually, I’ll get it done early for y’all – i’m in a good mood!

PAS Cup 2018:

In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2018 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is…yeah right, like i’m gonna tell you that now! Patience is a virtue mes amigos…

Rockin’…

The Bomb”: So that old adage, “pride comes before a fall”? Yep, I can vouch for that folks. I got all giddy in the rarified heights and instead of just quietly going about my business I had to go and get all cocky…(sob)

Anyway, only 6 of you managed 30 points or more this week (still doesn’t make me feel better) and David G on 36 points was sitting pretty especially as his nearest rival didn’t put scores in after Saturday evening!

Well, Mark J Brown 36 (5) has that freak Celtic defeat to thank, as it drew him level with Mr G but with one more correct score!

A goal from Bournemouth would’ve changed it all, and a goal from Swansea ended it all as our Toffee exiled in UAE snaffled up the “Melba” on offer for Week 12.

Smooth moves MJB! You had it all planned right?!

Jerk Me”: Mr 2-0 had his traditional seasonal end-of-season following in full effect this week as bloomin’ loads of you lapped up the 28 points posted – who said laziness was to be frowned upon?

Forty two punters were kicking themselves (i’m inconsolable now…) as they got 20 points or less this week – Chris D, Arthur H & Dan P didn’t even get a correct score though. Bah!

But the pudding this week was professional statisticians Predictz 11 (0) dontcha just love it when science doesn’t work?!

Correct Score of the Week:

Meh…most popular score was Bristol City’s 2-1 win over Nottm Forest – 29 of youse got that!

Ten got the dull-all at the Amex

4 got Sam’s 3-1 win over Paul. Adios Paul…

Jazz S, Julian F & David G just knew Spurs would score against Man City for a 4-1

Gary B & Steve M got Dundee’s 3 goal demolition of Partick

Jerry S & Paul S made us all green by happening upon Bournemouth 0-4 Liverpool

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Debbie Lee for her normally-correct-score-of-the-season inspired, Aberdeen 4 Hibs 1!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 97 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

Smackdown!

Derby v A Villa (56.25%) – ugh!

Birmingham v QPR (53.75%) – wha?!

Stoke v W Ham (48.75%) – eh?!

So, £0 sits on the to be avoided at all costs “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd!

Table News:

The Get Go”: Scott Harrison stays top, but now only point ahead of Danny N, who in turn is ten points ahead of Kate S in third.

Danny A & Pete B crashed the Top Ten.

You Used To Be A Man”: Will Oppong stays bottom, still one point behind Dan H, who in turn is two points adrift of Shaun T…

Get Lucky”: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 25 places, is David Goggin  – honourable mentions go to Mark J B (+21), Jerry S (+12), James L  (+12), John J (+11), Paul S (+11) and Rob C (+11).

Hard Knocks”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 19 places, are Richard Hirst & Predictz  – dishonourable mentions go to Dan H (-18), Danny B (-16), Ryan G (-15), Chris D (-14), Kyle B (-12) and Clare T (-12).

PAS Cup 2018:

In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2018 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is, on the edge…Harry Hopper!

PAS Champions League 2017/18 Group Stages:

Matchday 6 this week…everything decided!

Oooh it was exciting! We had 7 away wins! 3 hammerings! 8 unsuccessful jokers! 1 really successful joker! And, 2 close games!

But who went through?

The Group of Wide-Openness was anything but!

The Grupo de Morte went with tradition!

The Group of The Shoo-In was all even & decided on correct scores!

The Group of The Shoo-In But CL Specialists Be Lurking had a shock!

The Group of Nope, Me Neither saw one miss out by a point!

The Group of I’ll Laugh At You If Frankie Qualifies was another correct score decider! But even tighter!!

The Group of Fam. Innit was decided on the smallest of margins! Goal difference margins!!

The Group of Inseparables was anything but…

Matchday 6 results & final standings can be found here

And Another Thing: Surely they can’t do the quadruple unbeaten?!! Surely???!!

Twitter is dead…and so is Instagram! We old skool with just plain pictures…

Yep, we’re dropping it next season….

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’17 Week 11 round up

It wasn’t Cesc…

Everything Is Everything”: Here’s the thing – you sit down, reassess, plot, plan and find a formula that works, right?

Then it starts working. And it’s all down to your hard work, research, knowledge & “weighing up the odds & then applying common sense instead of fantasy”….right?

Right! Cool…check out the trajectory from a Week 4 84th!

Then your daughter doesn’t want to play “boring football” especially as there are 4 gazillion slime videos to watch on YouTube – so you just flit through & do her 30 scores in literally 1 minute with the first scores that enter your head cos you’ve already paid and it’ll be a waste. Right?

When she gets her 3rd wooden spoon you can spray it gold and…

I got 30 points this week.

“Frankie” got 33 points and 6(!) correct scores! That’s not right! Right?

Anyway, Dan Pelgrom 36 (4) proper showed off this week as he didn’t even bother with the first 3 games and still came away with his 2nd “Alan” of the season. All thanks to Wayne as it turns out…

Right on Dan!

Victim of the Crime”: It really is all to play for this season as only 15 people got 25 points or more at the top and 28 punters failed to get more than fifteen points.

Getting no correct scores is never a good thing though – hang you heads Jamie T & Ben H.

Ric Pardoe 7 (0) may have already lost his head, as a catastrophic total has probably ended his entitled claims to a league title. Ouch!

Correct Score of the Week:

If you got one this week, give yourself a chest bump…most popular score was Burnley’s 1-0 win over Watford– 19 of youse got that!

Six got the five-point Reading v Cardiff 2-2

5 got the 1-3 Peacocks win over QPR

Five more somehow guessed Forest 3 Bolton 2 (how?????)

4 nailed Hibs 2 Celtic 2

Four more got the very annoying last minute spoiling Palace 2 Bournemouth 2

Mark S, Stuart F & John J got Norwich’s 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday

Dan P, Pete B & Me got the thrilling new manager syndrome enhanced Hull 3 Brentford 2

Patricia F got the bore draw between Wolves v Sunderland

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Kyle Beale for his I-may-be-a-newbie-but-I-get-it-now inspired, Barnsley 0 Derby 3!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 97 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

Ooooof! Back to earth with a bump!

Huddersfield v Brighton (51.19%) – never trust Brighton…

Swansea v WBA (44.05%) – scuppered by Bony!

Hull v Brentford (41.67%) – I knew this would be 3-2, you suckers!

So, £0 sits on the to be avoided at all costs “Bet of the Week” slot 11th!

Table News:

Ti Amo”: Scott Harrison stays top, but now a mere points ahead of Danny N, who in turn is twelve points ahead of Kate S in third.

4 crashed the Top Ten. Ahem… *shines chest with closed hand*

If I Ever Feel Better”: Will Oppong drops to the bottom, one point behind Dan H, who in turn is twelve points adrift of Sam C…

Consolation Prizes”: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 23 places, is Dan Pelgrom  – honourable mentions go to Frankie F (+22), John J (+15), Mark S  (+14), Pete B (+12), Norman L (+12), Ryan G (+12) and Peter M (+11).

Too Young”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 20 places, is James Lee  – dishonourable mentions go to Sam A (-18), Ben H (-14), David G (-14), Neil O (-13), Jerry S (-13) and Simon Linds (-12).

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’17 Week 10 round up

Nope, me neither…

My Name Is”: Pffftttt! What a close week it was this week! It proved to be a week where basically, you just had to lock down those bread n butter correct scores without fuss, faff or last minute dramas.

24 of youse managed an impressive 30 points or more – with an elite six notching up 35 points plus!

Paul H nailed down a steady 39 points and young ‘un Ethan N was surpassing himself with a mighty 40 points. Which begged the question.

Is he getting help? Is his dad coaching from the sidelines? Is he even encroaching onto the pitch beyond the technical area??! Imagine!

Obviously, all frowned upon in these parts….. (Francesca! Ssssssssshhhhhh!)

So when Kate Slee 42 (7) smoothed her way to claim this week’s “Brian”, we here in PAS Towers in no way suspected the work was not her own.

Why would we?!

Congrats Katie, make sure you share the wealth yeah?!

Just Lose It”: As I mentioned, it was an impressive week. You could say a David DeGea kinda week – if you’re that way inclined of course…

Only 5 people scored 15 points or less – Debbie L got a correct score to make up her thirteen points.

Well done Debs, cos you confined Mark J Brown 13 (0) to the bottom of the pile – just as things started to look rosy for most Evertonians…

Correct Score of the Week:

Lordy! Good work people…most popular score was Bristol City’s 2-1 over Boro – 33 (!) of youse got that!

Twenty two made us all green by happening upon Coventry 3-0 Boreham Wood

10 got the dull-all at the Hawthorns

Ten more obviously guessed Chelsea would beat Toon 3-1

9 notched the very commendable Woking 1 Peterboro 1

Nine more got the 3-1 Cardiff City win over Norwich City

Anders H, Alex R & Paul C nailed Sheff Wed 2 Hull 2

David G got the very annoying Arsenal 1 Man U 3

My mum just knew West Ham would score against Man City for a 2-1

George T believed in Wolves. A 0-1 kinda belief…

John K got the thrilling Brentford 3 Fulham 1

However, this week’s best correct score goes to little Ethan Nicklin for his Howay!-I-know-Mackems-are-wrong inspired, Sunderland 1 Reading 3!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 97 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

Yep….we won! Again! Whooo!

Bournemouth v Southampton (60.29%) – nice one Charlie boy!

Arsenal v Man Utd (57.35%) – obviously would’ve been an 8-8 draw if we didn’t give them a headstart…

WBA v C Palace (51.47%) – never has a stalemate been more not in doubt (is that two double negatives in there??!)

So, £7.67 now sits on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th!

Table News:

Role Model”: Scott Harrison is still on top, 18 points ahead of Danny N, who in turn is six points ahead of Kate S in third.

John K crashed the Top Ten.

Without Me”: Dan Hogwood stays bottom, but now only one point behind Will O, who in turn is twelve points adrift of Sam C…

I’m Back”: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 22 places, is Paul Smith  – honourable mentions go to Ethan N (+21), Darren McC (+20), Neil O (+19), Joe M (+15), Paul H (+14), Neil M (+13), Rowan M (+13) and Dave N (+13).

Till I Collapse”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 23 places, is Debbie Lee  – dishonourable mentions go to Gary B (-20), Harry H (-16), Richard H (-15), Charlie H (-14), Mark J B (-14), Steve M (-13) and Dave C (-12).

Oooh it was exciting! We had 8 (!) away wins! 6 hammerings! 1 unsuccessful joker! 1 really successful joker! 1 correct score (!!!) heartbreaker! And, 1 draw!!!

Congrats to Dave N, Ryan G, Andy F & Nick H on confirming qualification to the knock out stages
