PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’17 Week 5 round up

Yes, you can…

Jack The Ripper”: Wha’d’ya think is worst? Watching Arsenal churn out the same old turgid inept 45 minutes so familiar & ingrained that it really is like Groundhog Day every home game – the slow build, the sideways movement (Jordan Henderson come join us!), the fascination still with trying to get that perfect goal and the inevitable “rickett” that gives the away side a goal…

OR, forever walking away at full time pondering “why can’t we play like that in the first half as well?!!” after a 2nd half display sooooo much better that it can only make you feel we need a 45 minute warm up before kick off (surely Alexis would get all the tight circle turns out of system by then too right?!!)

OR, sitting next to the PAS League leader – smarting as he regales how the Baggies have just secured a 9 point haul with a 92nd minute goal AND how he “told you Liverpool would win 3-0..” whilst you hope & pray you actually beat Mr 2-0 this week as getting over 20 points looks like a pipe dream once again…

My “dilemma” was of no consequence at all to the 4 people who scored over 30 points this week (and probably to everyone else too – woe is me!) as newcomer Kyle B looked to have a debut season weekly win in the bag thanks to his 2-0 Sunday prediction at the King Power.

But Monday proved to be blue, claret & blue actually, as Jack Buxton 36 (7) deftly swept home with a Burnley correct score to take this week’s “Roger” from right under Mr B’s nose…

Jack’s back people, Jack’s back!

Still Life”: How “worst” can you get? Seven bods could only muster 10 points or less this week! With no correct scores…shocker!

Worst still, David Goggin 6 (0) is a Gooner too…and I thought it was just me!

Correct Score of the Week:

Kinda settled down this week – most popular score was Brighton’s 1-1 draw with Southampton – 30 of youse got that!

12 got the 3-0 trouncing at Anfield

Six got the dull-all between Lincoln & Crawley

6 more got the late late show Crystal Palace 2 West Ham 2

Four got the Rangers renaissance at Hearts

4 more predicted the stalemate that was the “Second City” derby

Rowan M obviously guessed Watford 0 Stoke 1

Howard T nailed the 9 pointer at Deepdale

Dave C lucked out on WBA 2 Man City 3

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Stephen Peaston for his “Greenock did this once”, Celtic 1 Kilmarnock 1!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 97 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We won!!! Yay!

Brighton v Southampton (46.91%) – ol’ Murray is mint!

Palace v West Ham (46.91%) – go on Wilf!!

Dundee v Hamilton (46.91%) – not even a red card could stop Hamilton winning away – boooo!

So, £7.55 on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th!

Table News:

Something To Remember Me By”: Scott Harrison moves up one place to take top spot 1 point ahead of Dave C who in turn is six points ahead of Paul C in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten.

I Can’t Control Myself”: Dan Hogwood stays bottom now nine points behind the inseparable Will O & Eddie O…

Whole New Way”: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 38 places is Howard Thomas  – honourable mentions go to Jack B (+20), Kyle B (+28), Savan A (+19), Neil C (+23), Ben McK (+22), Julian F (+21) and Charlie H (+19).

Chasing Shadows”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 28 places is Peter Morley  – dishonourable mentions go to Arthur H (-15), Pete B (-16), Martin S (-16), Lewis M (-23), Mark J B (-26), Jamie S (-16), Paul S (-15) and David G (-20).

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’17 Week 4 round up

Not a punk…

Stealing Cars”: Really?? Everything I put, the opposite happened! To me, that’s worse than missing out by the odd goal cos at least you have the correct result right?!

It seems the increasing unpredictability is affecting most of us albeit in varying degrees – 7 punters managed 30 points plus this week!

Paul C collected a third of his points from one game and looked nailed on for a weekly win as all around were scuppered by the form book having its pages scorned & scoffed at.

So, if you missed Friday’s game (did you know that Match 1 on PAS is more likely than not to be an away win?!) and then inexplicably missed another 4 on Saturday, you’d be done right?

Wrong!

Those four “Mr 2-0” games swept Andy Smith 35 (5) to a Week 4 win making it Andy’s “Mandy” this week.

Nice work Andy, I take it you know the “Syndicate” – keep this form up and you may get an invite…

Fool”: We recruited eleven “newbies” this season and up ’til now they all look to have settled in & acquitted themselves with considerable aplomb.

But beginners luck runs out.

In a week where 34 players totted up 20 points or less, and four didn’t even get a correct score, debutant Shaun Turner 10 (0) is propping up the rest.

Feeling sheepish Shaun? Ignominy is yours!

Correct Score of the Week:

I’m speechless… – most popular score was Villa’s 2-1 victory over Fulham – 24 of youse got that!

13 got the inevitable at the Etihad

Seven got the 1-3 thriller between Blackpool & Wigan

4 got the ding-dong Wolves 3 PNE 2

Ben McK & John K obviously guessed Bristol City 0 Leeds Utd 3

Paul C nailed the 10 pointer at the Bridge

However, this week’s best correct score, and new “Best Correct Score of the Season”, goes to Ethan Nicklin for his “us kids love Harry Kane innit”, Spurs 4 Liverpool 1!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 97 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

Lost again…

Ipswich v Norwich (45.45%) – wonder if Mick Mc has an opinion now?

Villa v Fulham (45.45%) – no great escape for Fulham this week…

Southampton v WBA (45.45%) – only Goal of the Season 5 mins from time denied us here!

So, no £££ on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd then…

Table News:

Holiday Destination”: Dave Crisp stays top but only 1 correct score ahead of Scott H who in turn is five points ahead of Danny A in third.

Four crashed the Top Ten.

Mother Fighter”: Dan Hogwood slips one place to the basement slot two points behind Frankie F who in turn is 4 points off Darren McC.

Yes Men”: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 31 places is Alex Rossi – honourable mentions go to Andy C (+16), Jerry S (+24), Neil O (+16), Jamie T (+24), Danny B (+16), Jason M (+23) and Ethan N (+17).

Out The Way”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 42 places is Howard Thomas  – dishonourable mentions go to Paul V (-20), Shaun T (-32), Andy K (-23), Paul F (-29), Tony D (-20), Paul S (-22) and Neil T (-22).

Matchday 2 this week…

Oooh it was exciting! We had 7 away wins! 6 hammerings! 2 close games! 2 unsuccessful jokers! 1 heartbreaker! And, 1 draw!!!

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’17 Week 3 round up

“Quick! Ferdy’s got some blues…”

The General”:

“I’ve learned more than you’ll ever know, even at school I felt quite sure, that one day I would be on top…” sang the Modfather back in the day.

In this modern world (well, er, this week) only 5 punters managed to score 30 points or more as our beautiful game continues to be, quite frankly, unpredictable to most.

Paul H looked like he had it bagged this week with an impressive takky but then Brighton conceded a late late penalty…

That 1-1 was enough to take Dave Crisp 40 (8) clear at the top and no doubt cement his love of Brighton even further as this week’s “Bobby” lands in his slim fit 3 button number.

Well done Crispy – fancy scooting to Köln away now?

Repeated Offender”: Confelicity is a good word…What? No. Look it up!

Seventeen bods scored less than 15 points this week.

Mark S didn’t even get a correct score!

Gary Blackburne 9 (0) was the baddest of a bad bunch this week but probably couldn’t care less as Wilf came back fierce & proved the doubters wrong – viva les Eagles!

Correct Score of the Week:

Personally, it was miserable once again– most popular score was QPR’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland – 29 of youse got that!

10 got the last kick of the game “Desmond” at Craven Cottage.

Six got the other two-two between Southampton & Newcastle.

4 got the dull-all Lincoln v Cambridge.

Anders H, Simon Linds & Richard H (quelle surprise you latter two!) got Troy Deeney’s exploitation of weakness at Vicarage Road

Clare T, Gareth M & James C just knew no one would score during Sky’s “Match of the Century” in Liverpool

James C (again!) & Debbie L went away with a warm glow of smug satisfaction as St Johnstone 0 Rangers 3 flashed up on the full times…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Tom Storer for his “I know my Albions mate”, Bristol City 0 Burton 0!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 97 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We tripled up on the stakes…

But triple failed – waaaaaahhhh!

Wolves v Villa (51.16%) – blimey, Wolves look goooooood!

Brentford v Millwall (50%) – robbed by a missed penalty

Swansea v Huddersfield (47.67%) – looked a nailed on 0-0 until the keeper did his thing…

So, no £££ on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th then…

Table News:

She’s Got Standards“: Dave Crisp climbs to the summit, 4 points ahead of Scott H who in turn is three points ahead of Matt W in third.

Five crashed the Top Ten.

When I’m Alone“: Eddie Osborne slips one place to the basement slot 4 points behind Dan H who in turn is 1 point off Will O.

The Great Escape“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 47 places is Simon Lindsay – honourable mentions go to Neil C (+32), Joe M (+30), Paul C (+28), Patricia F (+27), Mark J B (+30), James C (+45) and Paul H (+25).

\

Fall To Sorrow“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 30 places are Ryan Graves & Olly Osmond  – dishonourable mentions go to Mark F (-26), Jazz S (-23), Simon Lindq (-25), Tony D (-29), Isaac A (-23) and Gary B (-24).

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’17 Week 2 round up

“Howay man! I’m the thinking woman’s Paul Jewell…”

Stellular”:

There was dancing on the streets of Reykjavik, Lisbon, Dublin and, erm, Clitheroe this week as PAS International Week really captured the imagination for the Russia World Cup. I mean, can you imagine the tattoo fest if Honduras get to play New Zealand??!

I for one, can. not. wait.

Anyway, as always, big points hauls were up for grabs…

21 got over forty points!! Six of you scored over 45 points!!!

Director of PAS Kate S must have had the bubbly on ice as her PAS Manager delivered an impressive 49 (9) for Franchise Slee. Cool beans.

However, we had darkhorse No.1 gliding along the rails taking 11 points form the last 4 games to nick into pole position. But, whilst he took the stand side, darkhorse No.2 on the blindside revealed an equally high standard of predicting…

Simon Buxton 50 (7) ultimately has his Slovakia v Malta five pointer to thank for drawing him level with Scott Harrison 50 (7) for a share of the weekly spoils. They couldn’t be split – so, we’ll split this week’s “Thurston” into 2 of those nice new £10 notes instead.

Well done boys, you gave International Week the send off it deserves…

Hell And Back”:

International Week can be a cruel temptress – you see the bright lights of a 5-0, 6-0, maybe even an 8-0 (except in Holland) and then Malta go get a draw or Luxembourg actually score a goal and you’re left pondering what could have been…or at least until Palace take to the stage again.

This week’s suckers included seven poor souls who couldn’t even manage 25 points!

And then there was Eddie O & Sam C on a woeful twenty two points!

But at least they got a correct score.

Chris Dixon 21 (0) will be beside himself as he scans his scoresheet down the pub with his mates this week. Regaling how “I was one goal out on 22 games man!”, “if that Mackem Henderson actually passed forwards, England would have deffo won 7-0. Man.” and “remember when we beat the Mancs 5-0? I had 4-0 for that. I hate Phillipe bloomin’ Albert…”

And his mates will just roll their eyes and bark, “shut up man, and get to the bar! And hoy in some of those posh nuts they all those Cockneys eat while ya there…”

Harsh.

Correct Score of the Week:

It was international week, whadidyaexpect??!– most popular score was Slovakia’s 3-0 win over Malta – 37 of youse got that!

23 got the 4-0 in Athens, Greece. When they beat Gibraltar.

Seventeen got the 5 point 3-0 between Spain & Gibraltar.

10 came good with 8 points for Northern Ireland 1 Gib Germany 3.

A fantastic four smashed in Slovenia 2 Scotland 2

Kate S, Clare T & Dan P just knew England would score on the astroturf…

However, this week’s best correct score, and new correct score of the season, goes to Debbie Lee for her vaulting, Poland 4 Montenegro 2!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 97 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

It was International Week. The scores were fragmented. We didn’t have a full deck to play with. There was no bet. Again.

Fear not though punters! We’ll triple up on Week 3 – so fingers crossed you lot can iD those precious draws eh??!

Table News:

Space To Be“: Matt Worsfold stays top3 points ahead of Scott H who in turn is two points ahead of Kate S in third.

Five crashed the Top Ten.

Dive“: Ooops! Chris Dixon slips twenty one places to the bottom of the pile 1 point behind Eddie O who in turn is 1 point off Simon Linds.

All At Once“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 58 places are Savan Arora & Paul Henshaw – honourable mentions go to Paul C (+50), Martin S (+47), Gareth M (+45), Andy K – welcome! (+42) and El Presidente (+40) – whoo, yeah!

Strange Warnings“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 40 places is Jamie Sellers  – dishonourable mentions go to Sam C (-39), Paul V (-39), Isaac A (-39), George T (-39), Julian F (-36) and Stuart F (-35)

Matchday 1 games kicked off this week…

And Another Thing: Notice I was in NYC recently? (see pics on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/pfernand65/) – well, I was there doing a couple of support slots for the lovely Saint Etienne – it was ace, you should’ve been there!

Seeing as you weren’t, my brother from another mother and mp3 roadie, Alex Rossi, put together a Spotify playlist for your aural delectation – check it out!

Personally, Spotify is the devil to me and should be actively discouraged. No. Seriously.

But, ahem, it works for us here I guess – enjoy!

Oh, and…

Nearly all the payments have come in – thanks! Anyone who hasn’t got round to it, i’m naming & shaming next week…

Twitter is dead…and so is Instagram! We old skool with pictures n dat!

Well, a bit like the Vision-On gallery (ask yer grandad millenials!), we’ll pick the best and post them up on future round ups – so getting clicking!

Stephen Peaston (aged 42) is this week’s featured artist (see top) – Greenock born Stevie P harbours a phat ass obsession with top rapper M&M. As a homage, he bought every pair of British Knight sneakers ever released in the US and showcases them “box fresh” next to his extensive “tag graffiti” coffee table book collection. All in his “spare” bedroom in Brookside Close, downtown Liv-er-pool.

He loves his mom’s spaghetti & his gold replica AK47 lighter…and when he goes transatlantic, he requests seat “D12 baby!”. Word!

So, who’s next?

Don’t send them in the post though – email them over to me! ([email protected])
