The ‘Pool Is Where It’s At….

Biggy”: Millennials, here’s something I know you don’t know (cos you only know stuff that’s, like, now? And on your phone?)

Back in the 80’s, everyone supported Liverpool. EVERYONE!

Imagine a Man Yoo (but actually really good, less risible and in tighter shorts), or even Man City now, and you’re halfway there to see how many glory hunters were knocking around back in the day (and, yes, old fellas, it was Leeds in the 70s…I know, I know!).

Well, they went quiet didn’t they, for aaaaaaages. They won the odd European Cup without being actual champions of England but when that elusive perch was in grasping distance – up slipped Stevie G…

Now they’re back!

And how! Bods who haven’t watched MOTD for 30 years let alone stepped foot on the Kop are now resplendent in replica tops & “oldskool” bar scarfs, crowing! Even Wirral Wools are getting involved FFS!

Even, half-scousers from South London.

Ryan Graves 37 (7) is hoping his weekly win is an indicator that his beloved Mighty Reds will go on and do the business just like him – whether 4 one all draws and a Wimbledon fightback will take them over the line just like Ryan is highly debatable though. Actually we won’t mention Wimbledon will we….(millennials, ask Siri)

Whiteout”: When you’ve written highly insightful, well observed and frankly highly entertaining novels about West London 80s football firms and music scene tribes, then getting under 10 points in a PAS week is probably neither here nor there.

John King 7 (0) really needs to hurry up and get that new book about Adolf Hitler out – it’s been too long mate!

Correct Score of the Week:

Bumper week this week – most popular score was Forest’s 1-1 draw with QPR – 26 of us got that!

25 got Celtic’s 3-0 deconstruction of Super Cally

Eight had the bore draw that was Kilmarnock v Hamilton.

7 obviously guessed Bury 2 Wimbledon 2.

Six nailed the 1-3 at the New York stadium

5 got the two-two in Edinburgh. The wrong side of Edinburgh…

Simon Lindq, Jerry S (welcome!) & Neil H got the 1-3 thriller between Swansea & Man Yoo.

Ian H, Andy C & Eddie O just knew it would be Wigan 0-3 Reading.

Dan H made us all green by happening upon Leicester 1 WBA 2.

Tony D believed in Hull. A 2-1 kinda belief…

Paul C saw his typo come good on the game at Bournemouth

Sam A got Burton 0 Barnsley 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Rowan Marriott for his Jan Tomaszewski inspired, Wolves 2 Derby 3!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 93 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We won! Again! This is good people!!

49.41% West Ham v Stoke – even I got that…

37.65% Kilmarnock v Hamilton – even I got that!!

45.88% Burnley v Palace – even I got tha- whaaat??! That Brighton sl*g scored in the 95th minute??! And then a post was rattled by Andros T a minute later??! Would you Adam & believe it?!!!

So, £8.91 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th. So so close to a full house….

Table News:

So Good“: Tony Morris remains top dog, now 3 points ahead of Jamie S who in turn is two points ahead of debutante Jerry S in third…

Paul H, Ryan G & Charlie H & Mark S all crashed the Top Ten.

Love Is To Die“: Paul Vinson slides 1 place to the basement 4 points behind Gary B who in turn is 1 point off John K…

Feeling Alright“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 26 places is Sam Arora – honourable mentions go to Paul C (+22), Gareth M (+20), Ben H (+15), Ric P (+18), Danny A (+18), Tony D (+13) and Ryan G (+21).

Undertow“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 18 places is Will Oppong – dishonourable mentions go to Neil M (-10), Savan A (-10), Sam C (-10), Stuart F (-13), Howard T (-15), Richard H (-12), Mark J B (-11) and Ricki M (-10).

And Another Thing:

A cautionary tale from the Nottm Forest of PAS…

….total nightmare on Pas. This is what it must feel like to be Mourinho. Won a lot in the past and feared by all. No one wanted to draw him in the Champions League or cups. Now his aura is fading. No matter what he does, he can’t find the right formula. There’s a new breed of manager in town, bringing new ideas to the table and wiping the floor with him week after week. All he can do is cry in his sleep. Is the season over already?  – Gareth M

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’16 Week 5 round up

screen-shot-2016-04-06-at-190011
No. Chase ME! I was a playa in Croydon…

Nice ‘n’ Sleazy”: In what turned out to be a peach of a week for most with outstanding correct scores, only eight bods clocked up 30 points or more. Our Citeh man in the sticks, Neil C, did his “Best” to claim the week’s win but fell short to a Scouser exiled in the desert. Mark J B was probably counting the cheesy nudgers he could ship over from Greggs with his bounty when up popped Mark Fawke 37 (6) to take the spoils and snatch the £20. Ex-Heartbreak High Drazic has Man City’s Ilkay Gön, Ilkay Gëd, Ilkay Güd…that German fella to thank as his 90th minute strike v WBA secured a massive 8 points to take Mr F one point ahead of pack.

Well done Fawkesy, the landlords of the Wirral will be fighting over your custom for the inevitable lock-in celebration…make sure you do it before 12 noon on Sunday though eh?! You could be drowning your sorrows sunshine…

(Get A) Grip (On Yourself)”: In what turned out to be a b*tch of a week for most getting correct scores, eight bods clocked up no correct scores at all! Imagine if you didn’t even manage double digits??! Imagine if that was you Sam Arora 7 (0)!

Well, it was you Sam…

Correct Score of the Week:

Beyond me you show offs… – most popular score was Birmingham’s 1-1 draw with the Villa – 33 of youse got that!

Twelve got Cheltenham 2 Blackpool 2

7 got Barnsley’s “Desmond” with Bristol City

Olly O, Ryan G & Will O had Arsenal’s deconstruction by a million passes of Sunderland

El Presidente & Norman L got Stoke’s 3-1 win over Swansea

Richard H & David G somehow guessed Palace 2 Liverpool 4 (how?????)

Tony M got the correctly over-hyped 0-1 at that ground near Ninian Park.

Bry S (welcome!) got the Friday night 0-2 between QPR & Brentford.

Dan P got Rangers’ thrashing of Kilmarnock

Neil C got the thrilling Ipswich 2 Rotherham 2

Mark F made us all green by happening upon WBA 0 Man City 4.

However, this week’s best correct score, and new best correct score of the season, goes to Richard Hughes for his lets-put-ridiculous-scores-in-as-they-just-might-happen inspired, Inverness C T 3 Hearts 3!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 93 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We won! Again! Good work people!

56.76% Birmingham v Aston Villa – tick!

47.30% Barnsley v Bristol City – tick!

47.30% Middlesbro v Bournemouth – no tick…

So, £8.32 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th. Woohoo!

Table News:

Golden Brown“: Tony Morris moves up 3 places to go 2 points ahead of the consistent Clare T who in turn is one point ahead of Jerry S in third.

The Storer family crashed the Top Ten. They’re like them Brownlee brothers. But Yam Yams. But not actually brothers. And don’t do triathlons. Hmmm. This analogy has petered out hasn’t it? Sorry.

Something Better Change“: Gary Blackburne slips 2 places to the bottom 3 points behind Paul V who in turn is 5 points off the much improved Ian P.

Always The Sun“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 24 places is Mark Fawke – honourable mentions go to Mark J B (+16), Neil C (+22), Savan A (+14), Neil M (+14) and Neil H (+16).  Neil Neil orange peel (+907)

96 Tears“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 28 places is Sam Arora – dishonourable mentions go to Gareth M (-18), Anders H (-15), Neil O (-17), Matt W (-19) and Predictz (-16).

PAS Champions League 2016/17 Group Stages: Matchday 2 games went ahead this week…

My goodness it was intense! We had 8 away wins! 6 hammerings! 2 heartbreakers! 9 succesful jokers! 1 really succesful joker (step forward Andy F)!

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’16 Week 4 round up

offensive

Offensive…

Perfect 10”: Hut hut! More perfect 8 then 10 really – but it’s all about the gains in this soccer ball game we love & cherish innit! Thinking they had control of the line of scrimmage, ten people (including my mum!) gained 30 points or more. Pressuring the quarterback was Ric P (who started with 8 correct scores out of 15 matches, then hit the buffers like, um, he ran into William Perry), YAC specialist Debbie L thought she’d run away with it with 41 points. But, wriggling free like Dan Marino in his pomp, PAS debutant Ian Harrison 42 (8) sneaked into the end zone to claim this week’s £20 weekly prize. Cue wild celebtrations followed by the ubiquitous commercial break…

Well done Ian, a Titanic performance – touchdown!

Rotterdam (Or Anywhere)”: Tut tut! More Amsterdam actually. Here’s a cold cold lesson kids.

If you are to partake in what those foreign Europeans have on offer, make sure you do your scores before you go – otherwise it will all go up in smoke. Alex Rossi 8 (0) was caught out and damaged as a result.

Just say no is what PAS endorse.

This is not to be sniffed at.

You can go window shopping but you don’t have to knock on the door do you? Well then.

I’m just glad he didn’t run into an Egghead…

Correct Score of the Week:

Personally, I found it difficult this week – most popular score was Partick’s 1-1 draw with the mighty Ross County – 23 of youse got that!

20 got Newcastle’s 3-0 deconstruction of the Tractor Boys

Nine obviously guessed Man City 1 Southampton 1

5 had the bore draw that was Swansea v Watford.

Ben McK, Tom S & Tony D got the 3-1 thriller at happy clapper Crisp Stadium in Leicester.

Ric P just knew it would be Brentford 0-2 Barnsley

Rob C made us all green by happening upon Burnley 2 Everton 1.

However, this week’s best correct score, and new correct score of the season, goes to Howard Thomas for his “Hooooooooooooooooooooooo (clap)” inspired, Bradford City 3 Sheffield United 3!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 93 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We lost! Boo!

49.40% Wolves v Dirty Leeds – Walter out!

48.19% Chelsea v Man Yoo- Jose out?

46.99% Bradford v Sheff Utd – proper classic spoils shared derby! Saved by a crossbar….

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th. Shame…

Table News:

36D“: Pete Britton moves up 5 places to go 4 points ahead of top lady Clare T & top newbie Ricki M who just cannot be separated right now…

Tony M, Jason M & Charlie H crashed the Top Ten.

A Little Time“: Ian Pratt remains bottom, now a mere 2 points behind Paul V who in turn is 3 points off the fast sinking Gary B.

Old Red Eyes Is Back“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 40 places is Ric Pardoe – honourable mentions go to Debbie L (+20), Ian H (+38), my mum (+30), Tony B (+23), and James L (+24).

Song For Whoever“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 42 places is Alex Rossi – dishonourable mentions go to Scott H (-22), Neil O (-21), Steve M (-17), Jon T (-18) and Richard H (-18).

Iron Throne? Pah!

From Despair To Where”: ***Spoiler Alert***

Game of Thrones isn’t just gratuitous sex and violence! It’s profound!

No, really – that short hair Sand Snake – she’s profound.

That Bjork Wildling – she’s profound.

That bell ringing Sparrow – she’s profound. Ahem. Maybe just me then….

Actually, that Cersei walk of shame scene was very profound (can you tell i’m way behind cos i’m a DVDer?!).

And speaking of the dethroned, PAS King Jazz S was back to his royal bestest this week, past glories blazing as he strode majestically to the £20 weekly prize…

However, the very recently hapless Neil Osborne 39 (6) has a Super Sunday to thank for ousting Mr S into second place as he smashed in a Watford 0-1 and then jumped with joy as Jay Rodriguez fluffed his lines late on meaning Southampton stuck to a 5 point, 3-1 victory.

If Jon Snow makes a comeback half as good as that it’ll really be something Neil (sshhhhh, remember i’m only speculating – i’ve just finished Season 5!).

Well done.

Roger that!

Spectators Of Suicide”:

Keeping it in the family, and probably feeling as ruined as that redhead Joffrey turned into a replica of Saint Sebastian, Eddie Osborne 10 (0) limped home in disgrace this week…

Rogered.

Correct Score of the Week:

After the madness of International Week, we’re back to cosy ol’ local Blighty matches – most popular score was QPR’s 1-1 draw with the Big Dutch Man – 28 of us got that!

Twenty six got Toon 3 Kurupt FM 1

14 got Norwich’s 3-1 deconstruction of Rotherham

Fourteen more had Blackburn’s stalemate with Ipswich

10 got Southampton’s 3-1 win over Burnley & ten more had the bore draw that was Wigan v Burton Albion.

Five got the 2-2 thriller at Firhill & 4 got Man City’s 1-1 thrashing of Everton.

Clare T & James C got the correctly over-hyped 0-0 at Kloppa Castle.

Julian F & Tom S (welcome!) got the 0-0 between Wimbledon & Swindon.

Bill P (welcome!) & Norman L made us all green by happening upon Arsenal 3 Swansea 2.

However, this week’s best correct score, goes to Neil Osborne for his Ladbrokes inspired, Aberdeen 4 Ross County 0!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 93 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We won! Good work people!

39.47% Blackburn v Ipswich – never ever in doubt…

35.53% Partick v Hamilton- never ever in doubt…

32.89% Stoke v Sunderland – never ever in doubt…until Jesus stepped up to the plate!

So, £7.65 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 39th. Hmmmm, nice!

Table News:

Stay Beautiful“: Norman Lee moves up 2 places to go 1 point ahead of my old team mate Mark S who in turn is two points ahead of Nick H in third.

Newbs Ricki M & Tom S and old skoolers Jazz S & Clare T crashed the Top Ten.

Little Baby Nothing“: Ian Pratt remains bottom, now only 3 points behind Ric P who in turn is 2 points off Martin S.

You Love Us“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 51 places is Neil Osborne – honourable mentions go to Julian F (+43), Bill P (+21), Rich L (+22), Alex R (+31), Ben H (+33) and Darren  S (+31).

You Stole The Sun From My Heart“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 42 places is Eddie Osborne – dishonourable mentions go to Chris D (-23), Rowan M (-23), Gary B (-23), Paul C (-23), Anders H (-27), Patricia F (-24), Andy F (-24), Ross B (-28), and Gareth M (-23).

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’16 Week 2 round up

Insane In The Brain”:

There’ll be dancing on the streets of Whitefield this week! Not because the Tesco have still got Marmite , more cos the Syndicate now has its own PAS record holder! Fifty nine players got over 30 points this week! Yeah, mad eh?!

25 got over forty points!! Ten of you scored over 50 points!!!

And two managed the fabled heights of 60 points or more!!!

Aussie PayPal maestro George T must have had the prawns defrosting & the Fosters on ice when he totted up a massive 60 (7). Bonzer!  (he probably didn’t think to himself…)

Strewth swiftky ensued though, as, with 5 correct scores amounting to an unbelievable 38 points, Mark Seels 64 (8) has the total respect of his peers by setting a new PAS record for points in a week.

Congrats Seelsy, one to tell the 5-a-side boys once you’re back from injury ? Not back yet? Well, you’ve got £20 now towards the physio bill…

Hits From The Bong”:

Back in May 1978, Roger Osborne beat Pat Jennings in the FA Cup Final and then collapsed…

]38 years later, a collapse once again unites a Jennings & an Osborne! (see what I did there?)

John Jennings & Neil Osborne 22 (1) quite unbelievably finished bottom of the pile with a normally respectable score that back in the day represented the average score to finish in the Top Ten!

Harsh.

Correct Score of the Week:

Crazy scores, crazy predictions, crazy points scored – most popular score was Norn Iron’s 4-0 win over San Marino – 28 of youse got that!

18 got the 4-0 in Estonia. When they beat Gibraltar.

17 got the 10 point 0-6 between Gibraltar & Belgium.

15 got Germany’s fine win at the expense of Czech Republic.

13 got the ten points on offer from Portugal 6-0 Andorra.

6 nailed Wales away draw in Vienna.

Five got Ireland’s 1-3 defeat of Moldova.

5 came good with 10 points for Faroe Islands 0 Portugal 6.

4 got Belgium’s 4-0 hammering of Bosnia

Me, Mark S & Dan H got the 3-0 between Sweden & Bulgaria.

Matt W, Norman L & Richard H got Holland 4 Belarus 1.

Ricki M (welcome!), Ross B & Simon Lindq got France 4-1 Bulgaria.

Neil T & George T just knew it would be 0-0 between Slovenia & England.

James L & Dave C smashed in Oxford 1 Wimbledon 3

However, this week’s best correct score, goes to Andy Fowler for his savvy, Wales 1 Georgia 1!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 93 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We lost! Not the most auspicious of starts…

52% Holland V France – Paul P starts to revv up…

35% Oxford V Wimbledon – MK who?!

35% Blackpool V Cambridge – we got this one!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th. Hmmmm, we will persist…!

Table News:

The Phuncky Feel One“: Mark Seels moves up 17 places to go 11 points ahead of old team mate Pete B who in turn is one point ahead of Norman L in third.

Loads crashed the Top Ten.

Lick A Shot“: Ooops! Ian Pratt goes up five places but remains bottom of the pile (yeah, we lost a few people from last week!) 4 points behind Martin S who in turn is 2 points off Brett A.

The Funky Cypress Hill Sh*t“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 74 places is George Triantafillou – honourable mentions go to Norman L (+37), Peter M (+33), Jason M (+48), Simon Lindq (+62), Ricki M (+39), Jazz S (+61), Sam C (+57), Matt W (+65), El Presidente (+45), Ross B (+39), Dan H (+34) and Rowan M (+33)

PAS L13 W16 Week 1 round up!

We’re off and running!

joshh

Tasty…

Feel Good Hit Of The Summer”: Evans above! By George i think he’s got it! Follow Reading?! Even know where it is??!
Well, they’ve got a Manc centre back who popped up for a 90th minute equaliser against Derby on Saturday. So what you say?
Well, if you nailed a 5 pointer 2-2 at Watford & then clocked that last gasp goal go in, the “what” would be “you’ve won the week!”
Imagine that?!
One person who didn’t have to imagine, merely bask in smug realisation, was Richard Hughes 44 (8) who, courtesy of Mr E, stole in to take the £20 weekly prize when it looked like PAS Euro ’16 champion “Hitman Howie T” (ask your hip hop uncle millennials!) had it in the onion bag. Well done Hughesy, a fine week to win as you don’t have pay me your entry fee now!
Steve Sidwell will be sooo proud of ya mate, go paint the town orange my son!

No One Knows”: Is your surname Rossi? Oh dear! One correct score? Jeeeeez!
Actually, it’s not as”oh dear” as being called Pratt, Ian Pratt 8 (0).
Yep, a bottom of the pile shocker of a start, but the only way is up eh Ian?!
Shurely double figures beckon in one of the fabled PAS International weeks in Week 2?
Go on my son, make uncle John proud of you… (Google it millennials!)

Correct Score of the Week:
Wow! Quite a few correct scores knocking about (despite the mad scorelines – well, i thought they were mad)… most popular score was Norwich’s 1-2 win over Wolves – 36 of youse got that!
8 got the “Desmond” between Watford & Bournemouth.Patricia F (well done mum!), John J (welcome!) & Clare T got the Brentford – Wigan bore drawRicki M (welcome!) & Howard T got the 1-3 involving Motherwell & Hearts.

Mark J B just knew Celtic would win 0-1 at Dundee. Cake. Of. Piece, etc….

Dave N got Toon’s 0-1 thriller v lowly Rotherham.

Dave N (again! This won’t look good to the newbies D…) got Leicester 0 Southampton 0.

However, this week’s best correct score and therefore best correct of the season so far, goes to Granite City worshipping, Sam Arora for his 8 point inspired, Kilmarnock 0 Aberdeen 4.

Bet of the Week: We’ve got a new system. We tested it this week. It works. And it gives real time indication of exactly who you lot think will win, lose or draw! And, best of all, you don’t have to do anything at all (well, except put your predictions in on time!)We’re gonna roll it out it in Week 2!Expect, ahem, the bookies to be cowering…
