PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 final table round up

“EFL”:

So, who won?

Well…a PASer who has, let’s say, been very much threatening to do this for quite a while now.

Letting the “this-is-how-to-win-a-league-title” weekly performances do the talking “on the pitch” by opting to stay schtum on our What’s App group (erm, the rest of youse are all on there aren’t you?!) paid dividends despite missing out on giving the Arse “zero love”, as is the want of everyone on there…<shakes fist>

It was a close, compacted & confusing season that included a raft of bizarre results, more post 90th minute goals than ever before & yet more tirades of abuse aimed at the much maligned Mr 2-0.

And, whilst the Gunners grind their way to, ahem, the title (please let it happen!!!) with their trust in the process very much ensconced in the real world, our champion pretty much emulated Mikel’s stoicism in the PAS victory!

A few players kinda threatened to win it, but…

No one got really got that close to a tally that now goes into the Top Ten, with a bullet, as the 8th “best winning score” ever!

To be perfectly frank, it was over with 4 weeks left to play…

Our “Winter” champ started the season off at a “middling” 55th, before leaping up to 5th in Week 2 only then to slide to 13th the next week.

Week 4 saw a rally up to 3rd – to then remain in the Top Three for the duration. Blimey.

It was up to 2nd in Week 6 before reaching the summit in Week 8!

More dips?

No.

From Week 10 the screw was turned unerringly to keep the persistent Dom W et al at bay!

With the impeccable timing of a seasoned PAS pro, when really it mattered, all challengers were brushed aside in a remarkable performance of concentrated consistency!

So, lords, ladies & gents, please be upstanding and doff your caps to Andy Fowler 383 (52) – He. Is. A. Winner!

I would say do that fabled Fowler white line celebration, but this is a family show…(Sorry. The port is kicking in!)

Bravo Mr F, you’ve shown your beloved Toffees the way to score this season!

Andrew won by a comprehensive 22 points from a dogged Dom Webber in second place.

Darlo’s “Mr Big” finished an equally impressive sixteen points ahead of a PAS Academy graduate, Harry Hopper, who blossomed into third spot. That West Yorkshire Uni is doing wonders for you H!

Richard Hirst was a “more than a second glance” 9 correct scores behind in the not-too-shabby 4th berth (making him the toast of The Syndicate!), with Nineties PAS old skooler Jamie Sellers 2 points shy in 5th.

Two points futher back, proudly flying the “I’m The Top Girl” banner, Emma Tudor returned to the fold to finish in sixth spot. Good to have you back E, can we have more gee-gee tips next year please?!

Just a mere one correct score back, Gareth Morgan can reflect on a fine season, (same heady heights as “AngeBall”, G?…), finishing in seventh whilst in eighth place (only 2 places back) was the perennial prize bothereer Kate Slee. And, just one point behind her in 9th, across the sea and into Europe, was one of our sizeable German contingent, Pawan GC!

Across another sea to Sweden, we find Anders Hoglund who just edged out the unfortunate Week 3 winner Olly Osmond to finish 10th –  courtesy of two points…golly!

“ESL”:

Only 1 point(!), and only 8 places, separated our new champion from our wooden spoon “champion”, Danny Ashworth 241 (24) in Week 1!

Awkward…

Starting in 63rd, poor Dan never really recovered.

Like a role model to rubbish rallying, it was plummet to 94th, then to 95th, stay there for 3 weeks, before climbing to 93rd and adding momentum to get to 92nd!

However, Week 8, and it was down to 94th.

Week 9 saw him sink to the bottom

And there he stayed – securing the wooden spoon by 4 points to round off a miserable PAS year.

Julian F, Suman K, Mike K, & Greg F made gallant efforts over the season to save Daniel’s blushes, but…

Spot Prizers

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 13 round up

Feliz navidad!

He Took Her To A Movie”:

You can tell it’s the holiday season – people put down crazy scores, crazy scores come in.

Mr 2-0 is oversubscribed as people “forget” or drift off into an alcoholic abyss with little chance of predicting succour.

Form goes out the window & “coupon busters” are celebrated by bookies across the country.

So how do you combat this perennial problem?

Don’t ask me, I had us to win at Anfield & Sunderland to beat Coventry 4-2…

However, as Kate S & Richard H couldn’t capitalise on good starts and Norman L decided to miss the first 5 games of an already shortened fixture list, an early Christmas gift was handed over to Ben Hogwood 38 (8)

Ding, dong! (merrily on high)

A couple of added-on time goals at Swansea & Stockport got Mr H on track to land the last weekly twenty quid prize…

Surely you’ll keep it Norfolk and it’s Twizzlers all round then Ben?

Here’s the science bit – twenty six of youse managed 30 points or more.

Merry Christmas!

Destroy Everything You Touch”:

It’s Christmas, there are crazy scores expected and there’s last minute shopping to be done.

Why bother doing your scores?

Paul H, Simon Lindq, John J & Greg F are wondering just that in a week where 6 bods only managed to score less than fifteen points.

Surprised Everton’s run of form came to a juddering halt? Well, don’t be.

Patricia Fernandez 5 (0) spectacularly returned to what she does best as the parallel form with the Toffees continues…don’t tell Sean D, he might choke on his sprouts.

Correct Score of the Week:

A few crackers here…most popular score was Tottenham’s 2-1 defeat of Everton – 19 of youse got that!

Fifteen put us all to shame by predicting Leicester City 3 Rotherham United 0

Me & 12 others celebrated like Walsall at Highbury in ’83 after that 0-0 at the New Den

Andy C & Nick H thanked the Lord for Dominic Solanke and his 94th minute 9 pointer hat-trick

However, this week’s best correct score goes to, Nick Hogwood for his Christmas-is-about-family-and-celebrating-together-so-me-&-my-bruv-are inspired, Bristol City 3 Hull City 2!

Bet of the Week:

Jack Buxton was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 12 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He came up short again.

“All three teams to win and BTTS:”

Newcastle – didn’t even score…
Spurs – spot on!
Liverpool – a crossbar away?

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd leaving it on £1.70 – bah, humbug!

Great effort from all our BoTWers this season.

Say it quietly, but I think we may be onto something here…or not!

Table News:

Runaway”:

Two crashed the Top Ten and highest climber this week, up a whopping 22 places is Norman Lee – honourable mentions go to Mr 2-0 (+15), Max Morgan (+14), Mark S (+15) and Thomas S (+14)

Ghosts”:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 32 places is Patricia Fernandez – dishonourable mentions go to Matt W (-15), Sion Linds (-22), Jason M (-15) and Howard T (-17)

Full season update is imminent once I can work out what day it is…

Actually, I’ll get it done before you go back to work in the New Year – honest!

PAS Cup 2024:

In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2024 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is…yeah right, like i’m gonna tell you that now!

Patience is a virtue mis amigos…

PAS Champions League 2023/24 Knockout Stages: Congratulations to the players who made it through to the knockout stages – you’re like, the best!

And Another Thing:

Thankyou for taking part in another fab season – we couldn’t do it without you!

Please come back soon.

Very soon!

Actually, it will be early February – but fear not! You’ll be getting a constant stream of reminders…

Oh, and don’t forget to  bring some friends along in 2024…

Special thanks to Dan & Dave once again for all their tireless work behind the scenes – they’ve really earned their sub-minimum wage salaries lately…

Prize Money Update  – League prize money will be paid out pronto! (Less your entry fee for next season, natch…)

Oh, and this

Merry Christmas!

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 12 round up

Get well soon Tom…

My Star:

Just when all those last kick-of-the-game correct score-robbing heartache goals suddenly go your way for a change (coupled with some encouraging league form) you can kinda get excited about, maybe, the cherry on top £20 weekly prize accolade coming your way, right?

Only 6 PAS punters checked in with 30 points or more this week.

Pete B basked in the glow of added-on-time correct scores at Oxford and Millwall.

Darren McC had that Oxford result too, and he continues to replicate his Super 6 form in the big boys predicting game.

Yours truly bagged Millwall, the 9 pointer 96th minute winner secured 3-2 at Plymouth, and two nil-nils…

Only for the 94th minute goal at Sheff Wed to dash the dream!

So just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, current back-to-back League Champion, Dan Wayman 35 (5) emerged from the murky depths, bared his teeth, and got back to what he’s done best for the last two seasons.

No faff or fuss, just straight-up spot-on predicting.

Fair play Dan, but be warned, I’ve asked Santa for a bigger boat…

F.E.A.R.:

Meanwhile…

Fourteen players couldn’t register more than 15 points this week.

9 of those didn’t have a correct score between them.

Three musket-hounds failed to get into double figures…

Dan Hogwood, Bijay Lama & John Dowd 9 (0) don’t despair, there’s only a week to go!

Correct Score of the Week:

Like London buses…most popular score was Villa’s 1-2 win at Brentford – 34 of youse got that!

Eleven got the 3 goal demolition of Burton Albion by Oxford Utd

El Presidente, Pete B & Rowan M will shout out loud about the last minute joy of Plymouth beating Rotherham 3-2

Pab & Predictz turned up Burton 0 Barnsley 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

Chris D & Dan W landed on the two-two in East Anglia. The wrong side of East Anglia btw…

Danny A celebrated the bore draw between St Mirren & Motherwell

John J just knew Hull would keep a clean sheet for a 3-0 v Cardiff

Harry H somehow stumbled on Newcastle 3 Fulham 0 (how????)

Me, I decided to deploy catenaccio to reap the rewards at Anfield And I did…whoop whoop!

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Correct Score of the Season, goes to Patricia Fernandez (again!) for her I-am-Everton-and-Everton-is-me-so-get-a-load-of-this-current-form-you-so-called-experts inspired, Man City 2 Crystal Palace 2!

Bet of the Week:

Jack Buxton was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 11 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Close again, but not close enough again!

“…may as well try and make some money out of it!!

All three teams to win and BTTS:”

Ipswich – all the goals but not a win
Middlesbrough – yes!
Leeds – all the goals but not a win
Unlucky Jack, but come back soon & try again!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th leaving it on £4.77 – wevs…

Jack Buxton & Hira Yonzan are at 33rd this week – amazingly, Jack was first out the box hat, so…

Jackie, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

Go get ’em!

Table News:

Golden Gaze:

Andy Fowler stays top, still 24 points ahead of Dom W who, in turn, is eight points ahead of Jamie S in third.

I’m calling it, we have a champion…

Two crashed the Top Ten!

Can’t See Me:

Danny Ashworth stays bottom, now only 1 point off Julian F, who, in turn, is three points adrift of Mike K

Time Is My Everything:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 32 places is Dan Wayman – honourable mentions go to Pete B (+16), and Chris D (+15).

Illegal Attacks:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 21 places is John Dowd – dishonourable mentions go to John K (-15), and Norman L (-17).

Matchday 6 Group games went ahead this week…

It. Was. Exciting. And. Decisive!

Four won their games with 19 points & 1 lost theirs with 25 points!

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 11 round up

So that’s why the VAR lot are in an office miles away from the ground…

Magick:

It’s official! Not predicting on all the games is a Winter 2023 “thing”!

In a week that saw only four PASers get 30 points or more (no, really), skipping, forgetting, bypassing or ignoring paid dividends.

Dom W kept up his impressive form, but fatally completed all his predictions and was denied the weekly prize thanks to latest goal of the week at Watford (96′) and The Posh’s (92′) third v Oxford United. Waaaaah!

My mum, in some weird current form symbiosis with Everton, missed the last game but picked up added-on time correct scores courtesy of Liverpool (91′) and Motherwell (91′). Oh, and she plucked an absolute gem at Rugby Park…

So it was left to two youngsters to duke it out for the £20.

Harry H missed 3 games, bagging 2 correct scores in the process, and landed the Motherwell 1-1 that had him sitting pretty… only for that Peterborough goal to deny him a certain win. Ooof!

Roll up Sam Osmond 34 (5) who decided(?!) to miss the first 4 games AND the last 5 games and yet still come away victorious – glorious!

Just to rub it in, those 9 “misses” bagged him 33% of his winning total…

He did the math!

Gravity’s Rainbow:

Meanwhile, in a ridiculous week for scorelines, 20 punters wallowed in the misery of fifteen points or less.

A great big eight of youse didn’t register a correct score.

And after weeks of being avoided, we had one poor soul rocking up with less than 10 points.

Matthew Stafford 8 (0) I fear this could be the talk of the family Christmas get-together if you don’t redeem yourself quick sharp!

Correct Score of the Week:

Bloomin’ ‘eck…most popular score was Huddersfield’s 1-1 with Bristol City – 29 of youse got that!

Nineteen were grateful for the 3-1 Rangers win over Dundee

4 had Leicester’s merciless deconstruction of Plymouth

Danny B & Mark S believed in VAR Villa. A 1-0 kinda belief…

Bijay L was all over the 0-1 to Sheff Wed at Stoke

Danny A got Brighton 1 Burnley 1

Howard T felt Fergie vibes when that Peterborough 92nd minute goal secured a 5 pointer 3-0 against Oxford Utd

Greg F had his secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at Carrow Road

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Correct Score of the Season, goes to Patricia Fernandez for her mum-really-is-the-word-on-how-i-predicted-this inspired, Kilmarnock 2 Celtic 1!

Bet of the Week:

Neil Meredith was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 10 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Close, but not close enough…

Aberdeen to win – 92′ winner!

Saka – anytime assist – erm…

Luton v Man City over 3.5 goals – ooooooh, so close!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th leaving it on £5.97 – meh..

Jack Buxton is at 45th this week

J, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

Come on Jackie, make it super!

Table News:

Golden Skans:

Andy Fowler stays top, now 24 points ahead of Dom W who, in turn, is eleven points ahead of Anders H in third.

It’s over, isn’t it?!

ONE crashed the Top Ten!

It’s Not Over Yet:

Danny Ashworth stays bottom, now 9 points off Julian F, who, in turn, is one point adrift of Mike K

Atlantis To Interzone:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 19(!) places is Sam Osmond – honourable mentions go to Hira Y (+14), Norman L (+15), Chris D (+13), Tom W-S (+15), Neil M (+13), Max M (+14), Lee T (+14), and Patricia F (+14).

As Above, So Below:

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 10 round up

‘Bout time Arsenal got a decision…

“Fireworks”:

There were 29 games on the card this week (we lost 1 Scottish game) and of them, 11 (count ’em!) had goals in the 90th minute and beyond!

And boy did people lap them up this week…

Twenty eight PASers scored 30 points or more as the scrap to be top dog proved to be rabid.

Six went to forty points and upwards with, notably, Dom W slamming in a 10 pointer.

Matthew M & Richard H went close as they notched 4 correct scores thanks to “added on time” goals and, remarkably, Mark S & Simon Linds registered 5 correct scores each thanks to the fourth official!

But our winner this week used the trendy “I’m gonna miss predicting at least one game” ploy coupled with 5 of the aforementioned 90 minute+ correct scores to nab the £20 prize.

Yep, Paul Vinson 51 (7) that was you – I’m guessing you won the lottery, pools and the local bingo as well with that luck mate!

“It’s A Shame”:

If you were at this end this week you can absolutely feel hard done by, aggrieved and sorry for yourself!

Only three players didn’t get more than 15 points and 4 didn’t get a correct score (harsh for Justin C!)…

Sam Arora 12 (0) propped us all up this week with one of the highest worst scores ever – unlucky!

Correct Score of the Week:

Wowsers…most popular score was Leicester’s last gasp 1-2 win at West Brom – 29 of youse got that!

Nineteen got the very annoying last minute spoiling St Johnstone 1 Celtic 3

13 had Brentford’s 3-1 win over Luton

Twelve we’re so happy for Bournemouth 2-2 Aston Villa they will actually wear that ballet dress…

8 doffed a cap to Wrexham’s 3-0 deconstruction of Yeovil Town in the Cup

Seven said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for their Chelsea 3 Brighton 2

6 made us all green by happening upon Leeds 3-2 Middlesbrough 2

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Correct Score of the Season, goes to Dom Webber for his mum’s-the-word-on-how-i-predicted-this inspired, Motherwell 3 Dundee 3!

Bet of the Week:

Rowan Marriott was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 9 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Proper mix-up selection…
Marcus Rashford anytime scorer – was he actually playing?!
Portsmouth to win at Northampton – emphatic yes!
Tennessee Titans to beat Indianapolis Colts – would you Adam n believe it?! It was a draw and the Colts won in AOT!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 83rd leaving it on £5.56 – ahhh well….

Tom W-S & Neil M are at 60th this week – Neil was first out the hat, so…

Mr M, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

Can you apply some of that scouse “knowhow” and rob the bookies please la!

Table News:

“The Lion’s Roar”:

Andy Fowler stays top, now a huge 29 points ahead of Gareth M who, in turn, is three points ahead of Dom W in third.

Can the imperious march be halted?!

Three crashed the Top Ten!

“Blue”:

Danny Ashworth stays bottom, now 12 points off Julian F, who, in turn, is still three correct scores adrift of Jasper M

“My Silver Lining:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 37(!) places is Paul Vinson – honourable mentions go to Ben H (+24), Matt W (+20), and Mark S (+31).

“Master Pretender”:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 26 places is Matthew Stafford – dishonourable mentions go to Norman L (-23), and Sam A (-25).

And Another Thing:

“Harry Maguire is known for his huge head, but he can’t store all that much in there.
At a recent personal appearance, Harry asked organisers not to give him any more than three short sentences to say, as that’s the most he can remember at any one time. Anything more than that requires a teleprompter.” – Popbitch

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 9 round up

“If at first you don’t succeed, Kai, try, try again…”

The Sweetest Girl:

Guess how many scored more than 30 points this week?!?!

Go on, guess!

What? No, not that many – guess again!

No! Wrong again!

Again!

Again!

Come on…

Give up?!

Good.

It was two! Mad, eh?!

That meant it was all up for grabs then and most grabbiest were…

…the resurgent Mike K (with a three x 5 pointers about his canon), Nick H (who benefitted from 3 added-time goal correct scores), and Matthew S (who nearly sneaked up on the blindside with his under the radar correct score for Huddersfield).

That left our two Thirty Point Club members vying for the weekly prize.

Dickie H somehow construed to miss 19 games but still bag 3 correct scores to go with his late show West Ham prediction.

And there he sat present & correct until the winnings were literally snatched from his pocket as VAR intervened at Craven Cottage at 21:49 on Monday to deny him a 2-2 five pointer.

The resultant penalty was duly converted by Willian, which gifted 9 points and sealed the £20 for Lily Templeton 33 (5)

Mad, eh?!

Congratulation young lady – shout girls aloud!  ; )

Oh Patti (Don’t Feel Sorry for Loverboy):

And no, it was way more than two people scoring less than 15 points this week.

It was 25 actually.

And, eight of them didn’t get a correct score.

Five scored less than 10 points.

Unfortunately for Jasper Marriott 6 (0) there was no magic for a magician (no, really!) this week…

Correct Score of the Week:

Slim pickings…most popular score was West Ham’s last gasp 1-2 win at Burnley – 32 of youse got that!

Fifteen got the dull-all at Dingwall

7 got Swansea City’s “Desmond” with Hull City

Four lapped up the injury time joy of Sheff Utd 1 Bournemouth 3

Four more revelled in the schadenfreude of Fulham’s late late show against VAR victimized Wolves

Stephen P & Matthew M thrilled at the thrilling Nottm Forest 2 Brighton 3

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Lisa Ward for her so-i’m-a-dummy-huh?-glory-box-this-then! inspired, Everton 0 Man Utd 3!

Bet of the Week:

Martin Stafford was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 7 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Ooops!

“After trying and failing with darts bets last time out… standard draw treble…”

Stoke v Blackburn – not even close
West Brom v Ipswich – not close
Luton v Palace – 7 mins away close…

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd leaving it on £1.70 – oh dear…

Charlie Harris & Rowan Marriott are at 83rd this week – Row was out the hat first so…

Jefe, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

Let’s win enough to build you another hotel fella!

Table News:

Absolute:

Andy Fowler stays top, now a massive 19 points ahead of Gareth M who, in turn, is two points ahead of Olly O in third.

Is the title race over?!

Two crashed the Top Ten!

Wood Beez (Pray Like Aretha Franklin):

Danny Ashworth slips two places to the basement, 1 point off Julian F, who, in turn, is three correct scores adrift of Jasper M

The Boom Boom Bap:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 24 places is Dickie Holloway – honourable mentions go to Lily T (+21), Nick H (+19), Matthew S (+20), and Stephen P (+16).

Asylums in Jerusalem:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 24 places is Lee Taylor – dishonourable mentions go to Mark S (-17), Dave C (-23), Eddie O (-18), and Paul H (-16).

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 8 round up

“Dock…”

Blitzkrieg Bop:

Usually, if you finish behind Mr 2-0 you can rightfully feel a little hard done-by.

You put in all that effort to hone “that winning total” only to find if you hadn’t bothered, you would have saved yourself, oooh, 15 minutes and gained at the same time.

This week, there was mucho consternation about the aforementioned “Mr” as the 2-0 scorelines rolled in over the 6 day International Week.

“How dare he!”, “It’s an outrage!” “It’s not fair!” hollered various Mr Angry’s from Purley, Portrush and, erm, Potsdam.

Well, fear not people, he (alongside his 6 followers) didn’t win, so do not feel hard done-by getting beat by a 38 point haul!

Twenty-six PASers scored more than 30 points this week…

Dave C finally found his mojo and went close, Paul F, who continues to impress, also went close and Ben H nearly did it with only 3 correct scores (imagine!)

But it was all decided by one 90th minute Leandro Trossard goal.

Andy F, like his beloved Toffees, was cruelly robbed of points…and those eight that escaped denied him a hat-trick of weekly £20 prizes (blimey!)

That same goal gifted Justin Corliss 42 (4) the 9 point correct score he needed to take him clear of the chasing pack…

Bravo Mr C, I suggest getting a few Leffes in to celebrate! Hic!

The KKK Took My Baby Away:

Do you wish you had settled for the default score this week?

10 punters didn’t get a correct score.

Only two scored less than 15 points!

And those two are had-in-hand propping up the rest.

Who?

Bijay Lama & Max Morgan 14 (0)

Go easy on yerselves boys…

Correct Score of the Week:

Scores were there to be had, but not many were got…most popular score was Wales’ 1-1 draw with Turkey – 16 of youse got that!

Fifteen just knew Gibraltar wouldn’t score against the Netherlands for a 0-6

14 got the very annoying last minute spoiling Belgium 5 Azerbaijan 0

Thirteen had Hugary’s 3-1 win over Montenegro

11 grateful for the 3-1 Spanish win over Georgia

Mark S, Simon Linds & Norman L got the 1-3 Spain win in Cyprus

Matthew S got Netherlands 1 Ireland 0

Pete B decided to deploy catenaccio to reap the rewards from Ukraine v Italy. And he did…

Andy F landed on the two-two in Georgia for Scotland.

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Danny Bushell for his there’s-no-14-0-showboating-going-on-here inspired, Greece 2 France 2!

Bet of the Week:

Simon Lindsay was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 6 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He failed but went pretty close…

“three winners you need so I’ll go (all Sunday games) – Hungary, Bulgaria and Norway.”

yes

no (but 8 mins from landing a 12/1 shot!)

and

no (those pesky Scots!)

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th leaving it on £4.77 – maybe next time…

Martin Stafford  is at 33rd this week

Snr Stafford, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

I’m expecting great things from you M!

Table News:

Baby, I Love You:

Andy Fowler storms to the summit, a big 9 points ahead of Olly O who, in turn, is five points ahead of Gareth M in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten!

I Wanna Be Sedated:

Mike Krasnowski stays anchored to the bottom, 7 points off Julian F, who, in turn, is four points adrift of Danny A

Rock n Roll High School:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 28 places is Ben Hogwood – honourable mentions go to Justin C (+27), Dave C (+22), Sam O (+22), Orla McKeown (+22), and Neil M (+20).

Teenage Lobotomy:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 21 places is Bijay Lama – dishonourable mentions go to Max M (-19), Simon B (-19), Roshan T (-17), Matthew S (-18) and Hira Y (-17).

One won their game with 23 points & 1 lost theirs with 32 points!

And Another Thing:

“After the David Beckham Netflix documentary, there was a 6.4% increase in long shots in the Premier League.”

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 7 round up

“He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich…”

The Sweetest Thing:

I have to say, this season is shaping up as one of the closest for a long long time – the predicting is getting universally consistent and the notable correct scores continue to roll in – bravo gente!

This is late (soz!) so I’ll cut to the chase…

Ironic really, as there was no chase this week ( or is that coincidence? Alanis! C’mere!)

Nineteen players scored 30 points or more, two went beyond the “haughty forty” and our £20 weekly prize winner totted up the best tally of the season so far!

Young Luke S put up a spirited challenge but his 43 points palled in comparison to Paul Carter 54 (7).

Our first runaway winner of the season smashed in 4 x five pointers and 2 x 9 pointers that had him feet up basking early doors…

For an ‘Ammer resident Down Under, the weekend must have looked like heaven from 2.20pm (GMT) onwards on Saturday!

And yes Paul, see, I can mention Australia without falling into lazy sweeping generalisations – fair dinkum eh?!

If Looks Could Kill:

Even at the wrong end of everything, there have been consistent shoots of optimism this season!

15 punters scored fifteen points or less this week and only four couldn’t muster a correct score (big commiserations to Harry H though – he got to 20 points “unboosted”. Proper harsh.)

And yet again, everyone got into double figures this week.

Someone had to finish last though, and it was our sole Bristolian (residing in Portishead) who was more slush than lush.

Lisa Ward 13 (1), you are a dummy.

Sour times, eh?!

Correct Score of the Week:

Monster monster scoring…most popular score was Southampton’s 2-1 win over West Brom Alb – 31 of youse got that!

Nineteen believed in the Villa. A 3-1 kinda belief…

10 saw Sunderland sinking Brum 3-1

Eight had their secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at The Ricoh Arena

8 more just knew Arsenal wouldn’t keep a clean sheet for a 3-1 v Burnley

Seven got 3 goal demolition of Brentford by Liverpool

6 made us all green by happening upon Ipswich 3-2 Swansea

Neil T, Simon Linds & Luke S decided to deploy catenaccio to reap the rewards on the QPR v Bristol City game. And they did…

Howard T nabbed the form book upsetting Brighton 1 Sheff Utd 1

I bribed Dave & Dan to tinker with the PAS timelapse cog in the back end and waltzed off with Boro 1 Leicester 0

Simon Linds thanked the Lord for Soucek (88’) at West Ham 3-2 Nottm Forest

Paul C was well away with the 2-3 away win for Oxford at Orient

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Debbie Lee for her yep-i’m-back-baby-and-how inspired, Crystal Palace 2 Everton 3!

Bet of the Week:

Dickie Holloway was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 6 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Another “winner”!

Triple H Treble

Hull win – yes they did!

Hearts win – yes they did!

Hibs lose – no they didn’t!

So, £2.97 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th taking in to £5.97 – nice!

Simon Lindsay is at 45th this week

Si, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

It’s International Week so be brave… but tread careful!

Table News:

Razzle Dazzle Rose:

Gareth Morgan stays top, but now only 1 correct score ahead of Andy F who, in turn, is two points ahead of Paul C in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten!

Lloyd, I’m Ready To Be Heartbroken:

Mike Krasnowski slips one place to the bottom, 2 points off both Julian F & Suman K

Do It Again:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 32 places is Luke Stafford – honourable mentions go to Paul C (+25), Will O (+19), Dan W (+15), and Debbie L (+19).

Let’s Get Out Of This Country:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 19 places is Jack Buxton – dishonourable mentions go to Sam O (-15) and Tony M (-15).

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 6 round up

Ahhhh, remember when football was a simple straightforward game…

Pounding:

I’m not going to mention it…

In another “correct score fest” of a week, only six PASers managed to score more than 30 points.

In a week where it appeared de rigueur to NOT predict all the games (yep, I missed 15 of them!) at least 3 contenders for the £20 weekly prize could claim that’s what hampered them.

Kate S missed 1 game, Reagon K missed 3 and Rob C missed 4 – but all came within striking distance of winning (spare a thought for Rob C though, that 100th minute Sheff U penalty ultimately did for him!)

Paul F challenged all the way right up to an unlikely 4 points at Luton courtesy of a 95th minute equaliser.

But where Spurs failed, one of their own succeeded.

Jazz Sian 38 (6) stayed disciplined, predicted all 30 games and can thank a certain B Fernandes for his 91st winner securing two victories…

The King is back!

There Goes The Fear:

I’m still not going to mention it…

Ten players couldn’t get over the line marked “15 points”

6 of them didn’t get a correct score.

All of them avoided a single-figure score week.

Propping up the rest this week, in-keeping with the family trait of not being very good at this game, is Greg Fleming 11 (0)

He’s not going to mention it either…

Correct Score of the Week:

Another bumper week…most popular score was Celtic’s 0-3 win at Ross County – 24 of youse got that!

Twenty got the 1-3 Gers win over the Jambos

9 will shout out loud about the 4-0 humbling of Solihull Moors by Bolton

Five got WBA 3 Hull City 1

Danny B, Andy F & Elliot D lapped up the 100th minute joy of Sheff U 2 Wolves 1

Rob C, Norman L & John D felt Fergie vibes when this Norwich 92nd minute consolation goal secured a 5 pointer 1-3 v Blackburn

Julian F, Matthew M & Max M got the dull-all at the Swansea.com Stadium

Martin S, Reagon K & Andy B celebrated the bore draw between Huddersfield & Watford

Julian F (again!), Tim P & Lisa W said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for their PNE 3 Coventry City 2

Jamie S, Nick H & Deepak B celebrated like Walsall at Highbury in ’83 after that 3-2 between Brentford & West Ham

Anders H & David G turned up Stoke 0 Cardiff 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

Sam A & Predictz snaffled up the 2-2 & 5 points served up by Birmingham & Ipswich

Reagon K saw his typo come good on the game at Newcastle

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Correct Score of the Season, goes to Paul Flaherty for his howay-(man)-i’m-sure-i’ll-have-a-great-weekend-what-with-late-goals-and-VAR-decisions inspired, Luton Town 1 Liverpool 1!

Bet of the Week:

George Triantafillou was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 5 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Another “winner”!

“Treble for bet of the week is…”
Brighton – nope
Bristol City – yep
and
Kilmarnock – yep

So, £2.56 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 83rd taking in to £5.56 – good effort G!

Dickie H, Tom W-S & Ben H are at 60th this week – newcomer Dickie Holloway was first out the hat…

Richard, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

Are you going to treat us to a South Coast special?

Table News:

Catch The Sun:

Gareth Morgan moves up one place to the summit, 6 points ahead of Andy F who, in turn, is one point ahead of Kate S in third.

Two crashed the Top Ten!

Kingdom Of Rust:

Julian Fernandez is still bottom (no birthday luck then bro…), now 5 points off Mike K, who, in turn, is six correct scores(!) away from Thomas S…

Here It Comes:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 31 places is Rob Currin – honourable mentions go to Jazz S (+24), Paul F (+18), Andy K (+16), Matthew M (+18), Deepak B (+18), and Reagon K (+25).

Sky Starts Falling:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 20 places is Lee Taylor – dishonourable mentions go to Simon B (-18), Paul V (-18), and Tom W-S (-17).

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 5 round up

Horror Show…

Voodoo Idol:

Twelve bods scored thirty points or more in a “really good correct score for most” kinda week.

Rich L, Lee T & John K showed out but couldn’t quite sustain the pace over the 30 games and newcomer Elliot D pushed hard along with oldskooler Ben McK…

Neil T, replicating his white-hot “Super 6” form, benefitted from a last minute goal at Palace AND the TWO added-on-time goals at Ibrox.

Add to that, the ubiquitous 3-0 to Liverpool and an impressive 9 points from Elland Road, and it seemed his star was destined to shine.

However, in a cruel twist of (last minute goal) fate, Plymouth’s 91st consolation at Ipswich proved fatal to his quest for the £20 prize…

Step up then David Goggin 42 (5), who definitely DID profit from the aforementioned Argyle goal.

And five minutes later, Super Tomi’s 5th (yesssss, I booed cos I had 4-0…) for the Arse gave him another 9 points!

And if you wondering if this was all a bit of a fluke, I think the fact that Mr G had 4-4 for the Motherwell game tells you he was properly tuned in this week…

Congrats D – go buy a pumpkin!

Garbageman:

Time to howl at the moon…

9 punters didn’t make it to 16 points this week.

8 didn’t manage a correct score.

Despite getting to double figures, Matthew Murphy 11 (0) is this week’s ghoulie – boo!

Correct Score of the Week:

The gravy train is still in the station folks…most popular score was Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Forest – 30 of us got that!

Ten obviously guessed Villa would beat Luton 3-1

9 got the very annoying last minute spoiling Arsenal 5 Sheff Utd 0

Seven had Southampton’s 3-1 win over Birmingham

5 got Watford’s last gasp “Desmond” with Millwall

Five more just knew Norwich would score against Sunderland for a 3-1

Darren McC, John K & Simon B revelled in the schadenfreude of Pep’s latest mauling

Rich L, Ryan G & Dom W nailed Wolves 2 Toon 2

Simon Lindq, David G & Howard T said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for their Ipswich 3 Plymouth 2

Paul V & Rowan M banked the five points on offer for the 2-2 betwixt Oxford & Wycombe

Neil T & Paul F somehow stumbled on Leeds 4 Huddersfield 1 (how????)

Stephen P was all over the 0-2 to Dundee at Livingston

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Dave Nicklin for his I-did-my-scores-after-my-ticking-off-and-now-everyone-will-think-i-fixed-it inspired, St Mirren 4 St Johnstone 0!

Bet of the Week:

Dom Webber was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 4 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Another “winner”!

“All from National League North…
Tamworth to beat Scarborough – correct!
Scunthorpe to beat Bishops Stortford – correct!
And massively against the odds….
Darlington to beat Spennymoor – correct, they didn’t!

So, £1.70 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd – unlucky Dom, better than owt. And fair play for going left-field!

George Triantafilou is at 83rd this week

Jorge, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

Are you going to treat us to an Aussie Rules selection? Or should I just send you £3 to go on the pokies?!

Table News:

The Way I Walk:

Olly Osmond remains top, 2 points ahead of Gareth M who, in turn, is four points ahead of Andy F in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten!

Aloha From Hell:

Julian Fernandez is still bottom (birthday luck incoming bro?!), now 8 points off Danny A, who, in turn, is three points away from Mike K…

Bikini Girls With Machine Guns:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 39 places is David Goggin – honourable mentions go to Ben McK (+34), Lee T (+26), Rich L (+29), and Tony M (+25).

Goo Goo Muck:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 31 places is Matthew Murphy – dishonourable mentions go to Will O (-28), Rob C (-22), Martin S (-23), and Nick H (-21)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 4 round up

Dazzler…

Help Yourself:

You know times are strange when Spurs are top, Harry Maguire is playing and I score 33 points in a 26 game week…

Yep, what was a potential nightmare point-gathering round proved just otherwise, as 22 of us scored more than thirty points!

Richard H threatened briefly thanks to a 92nd minute equaliser at his beloved Forest, Matthew S nearly came good with “Super Sunday” show and Sam O went close, boasting a Glaswegian nine-pointer in his points haul…

Out front this week though, collecting his second weekly win of the season, was Andy Fowler 40 (7).

A mixed emotions kinda week for our Toffee especially as Mo Salah’s 97th minute penalty proved to be the correct score that edged his weekly win!

Was you willing that one to go in Andy?! Was you?!! Come on, be honest now…

You Know I’m No Good:

Even at the other end, 4 postponements didn’t really wreak the havoc it could’ve.

Only six punters failed to breach 15 points.

Only 2 didn’t register a correct score.

Only No one finished with less than a double-digit tally.

Unfortunately for you Debbie Lee 10 (0), you were the one propping everyone else up…

Correct Score of the Week:

Didn’t we do well…most popular score was Leicester’s 1-3 win at Swansea – 28 of youse got that!

Eleven (!) thrilled at the thrilling Hearts 1 Celtic 4

9 we’re so happy for Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal they will actually wear that ballet dress…

Greg F, Matthew S & John D doffed a cap to Brentford’s 3-0 deconstruction of Burnley

Neil O, Bijay L & Jasper M quite rightly predicted Rangers’ 4-0 thrashing of Hibs

Jazz S, Mark S & Moi put you all to shame by predicting Norwich City 2 Leeds United 3

Rich L & Chris D had Newcastle’s merciless deconstruction of Crystal Palace

Ben McK was grateful for the 3-1 Killy win over Livvy

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Justin Corliss for his I-will-defy-the-odds-and-back-the-Hatters inspired, Nottm Forest 2 Luton Town 2!

Bet of the Week:

Gary Mitchell was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 3 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

“Just read you need a treble, sorry I missed it last time…
I’ll have Leeds, Wrexham & Morecambe”
Leeds – 85th minute yes!
Morecambe – 91st minute yes!
Wrexham – no…
Nice away selections that so nearly gave us a full house – come back soon G!

So, £4.77 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th – fab!

Dom Webber & Simon Buxton are at 33rd this week – Dom was first out of the hat, so…

Dominicio, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

Let’s keep this going!

Table News:

(There Is) No Greater Love:

Olly Osmond stays top, now 4 points ahead of Gareth M who, in turn, is one point ahead of Andy F in third.

Two crashed the Top Ten!

Rehab:

Julian Fernandez remains at the foot of the table, still 3 points off Danny A, who, in turn, is four points away from Dave N…

Stronger Than Me:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 36 places is Sam Osmond – honourable mentions go to Dickie H (+20), El Presidente (+20), Ric P (+28), Norman L (+25), and Matthew S (+25).

Tear Dry On Their Own:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 32 places is Dave Crisp – dishonourable mentions go to Roshan T (-20), Predictz (-24), Lee T (-25), and Deepak B (-23)

One won their game with 20 points & 1 lost theirs with 26 points!

Still early doors though people…

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 3 round up

Remember! No booze…

Fine Time:

Blimey – that certainly was a classic “International Week” so I’ll cut to the chase from the off…

A whopping FORTY SIX of youse scored 30 points or more this week with eleven of those hitting the 40 point plus marker.

And three of them went into the hallowed “fifties”.

Eddie O notched a 9 pointer, an eight pointer and 2 x 5 pointers but still pulled up short…yeah, I know right?!

Lily T continues the teenage girl trend of power point scoring, notching 2 x eight pointers this week – she may well be rueing a (probable) Tik-Tok distraction though, as she missed her prediction for the Austria – Belgium game…oops <gritted teeth emoji>

So that left Olly Osmond 53 (6) up front & centre to take the weekly £20 prize!

PAS old skooler Oliver can thank a 93rd minute 4th for Italy for his victory – however, I think the real story here was the inimitable Wrexham producing yet another goal-fest and yet another late late comeback…

Iechyd da!

Walkaway:

Feeling a bit underwhelmed by the “point plunder” that International Week promises?

Yeah, I know…

Only 6 people failed to get more than fifteen points this week.

All of them hit double figures though <smiley emoji>

Three poor souls didn’t manage a correct score despite scoring 20, 19 & 16 points (yes, that’s you Roshan T, Dickie H & Julian F!)

Good news though – Mr 2-0 15 (1) and his followers (yes, that includes you PAS Board members! My office. Tomorrow! 7am sharp!) finished bottom of the pile.

Bad news – International Week is back in Week 8 – eeeek!

Correct Score of the Week:

Mate…most popular score was Norn Iron’s 3-0 win over San Marino – 28 of youse got that!

Nineteen got Romania 4 Andorra 0

12 doffed a cap to Iceland’s 4-0 deconstruction of Liechtenstein

Twelve more believed in Ireland. A 0-4 in Gibraltar kinda belief…

And another 12 felt Fergie vibes when a Frattesi 93rd minute goal secured an 8 pointer 4-0 against Malta

Eleven celebrated like Walsall at Highbury in ’83 after that 3-2 Wrexham win over Salford

9 thanked the Lord for Herr Kane for securing them a 3-1 five points v Italy

Nine more obviously guessed Denmark would beat Kazakhstan 3-1

5 somehow stumbled on Malta 1 Ukraine 3 (how????)

Patricia F said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for her San Marino 1 Denmark 2

Deepak B made us all green by happening upon Ireland 0-2 Greece

Simon Linds snaffled up the 9 points served up by the Austria & Belgium 2-3

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Paul Carter for his I’m-still-very-much-aware-that-CR7-is-still-doing-the-doo inspired, Portugal 3 Slovakia 2!

Bet of the Week:

Stuart Fitzsimon was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 2 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

It was another no-show – tbf, it was International Week so I don’t blame him really…

So, £3 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th – another, ahem, acceptable start.

Gary Mitchell is at 45th this week – meaning, unbelievably he’s back for another go…or no show!

Gary! Gary! GARY! (jeeez, I sound like Dean from Lock Stock now…), I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

Bon chance!

Table News:

Alright:

Olly Osmond glides up 13 places to the top, 3 points ahead of Kate S who, in turn, is one point ahead of Jamie S in third.

SIX crashed the Top Ten!

I’m So Lonely:

Julian Fernandez slides three places to the foot of the table, 3 points off Danny A, who, in turn, is one point away from Dave N…<monkey with head in hands emoji>

Guiding Star:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 58 places is Dilip Adhikari – honourable mentions go to Paul C (+47), John K (+33), Rob C (+48), Pete B (+47), Matthew M (+31), and Ben H (+39).

Sandstorm:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 44 places are Dan Hogwood & Orla McKeown – dishonourable mentions go to Sam O (-33), Dickie H (-32), Ric P (-34), Roshan T (-34), and Paul F (-30)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 2 round up

Double bubble!

Fine Time:

If you felt like you had a good chance of winning this week (yes, Frankie did her own scores this week…), you probably felt about right!

It was a scrunched-up week with 11 punters scoring over thirty points and they were all vying for the £20 prize right to the end…

Nick H, Gareth M, Hira Y and Deepak B were all within striking distance but just failed for too many reasons for me to list here (soz).

That left two out front – one benefitting from late goals at West Ham & Fulham and the other from a 90th minute 3rd for Rangers.

However, it was a 102nd minute miss that took from one and gave to another.

Andy Fowler & Neil Templeton 37 (6) share the spoils this week as Olly Watkins saved Andy the four points he predicted, and, denied Neil the four points he needed to claim victory for himself…

Wowsers.

Congrats chaps – a tenner each coming your way…i’d stick it on young Oliver scoring on his England debut!

Blue Monday:

Meanwhile…

Fifteen players scored 15 points or less at the other end.

9 didn’t register a correct score.

One didn’t break double figures.

Danny Ashworth 9 (0) must be feeling a bit Brentfordy right now…

Correct Score of the Week:

Bumper week for many…most popular score was Man Utd’s 2-1 win over Brentford – 26 of us got that!

Fifteen banked the five points on offer for the 2-2 betwixt Brighton & Liverpool

12 had Celtic’s 3-1 win over Kilmarnock

Eleven got Brighton’s “Desmond” with Liverpool

10 had the very annoying last minute spoiling Fulham 3 Sheff Utd 1

Ten more just knew St Mirren wouldn’t score against Rangers for a 0-3

8 landed on the two-two in Edinburgh. The wrong side of Edinburgh…

Seven nailed Millwall 2 Hull 2

6 got the dull-all at Hillsborough

David G, Sam O & Lily T had their secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at Selhurst Park

Ben McK & Deepak B nabbed the form book upsetting Everton 3 Bournemouth 0

Norman L had Wrexham to keep a clean sheet for a o-1 at Crawley

Bijay L put us all to shame by predicting Southampton 1 Rotherham 1

Dom W lapped up the late show joy of Arsenal 1 Man City 0

David G (again) got the 1-3 Swansea win over Plymouth

Martin S turned up Aberdeen 0 St Johnstone 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Stephen Peaston for his I’m-still-buzzing-about-that-PSG-drubbing-so-i’m-going-with-mad-scores inspired, Burnley 1 Chelsea 4!

Bet of the Week:

Gary Mitchell was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 1 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

It was a no-show – maybe Phil & Grant “advised” against gambling…

So, £3 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 83rd – very acceptable, me thinks…

Stuart Fitzsimon is at 60th this week….

Fitz, I need your 3 team treble by Friday morning, please!

Bon chance!

Table News:

True Faith:

All change at the top, Gareth Morgan goes all Spursy opening a lead of 2 points ahead of Frankie F who, in turn, is two points ahead of Pawan GC in third…

Four crashed the Top Ten!

Shellshock:

All change at the bottom, Darren McCarthy slides to the basement slot, one point behind the inseparable Danny A, Charlie H & Julian F

The Perfect Kiss:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 67 places is Neil Templeton – honourable mentions go to Andy F (+50), Hira Y (+53), Nick H (+56), Deepak B (+62), Predictz (+50), and Norman L (+42).

Nothing But A Fool:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 52 places is Thomas Stafford – dishonourable mentions go to Greg F (-38), John J (-37), Debbie L (-46), Emma T (-38), Elliot D (-36), and Chris D (-39)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’23 Week 1 round up

Ola!, i’m Number One…

Only You:

We’re back! With a bang!

No, not Arsenal – PAS!

Anyway…

I’ll cut to the chase (sort’ve) as it was all about The Girls this week – and, 4 of the 7 we have signed up this season finished 11th or higher – go girls!

Emma T made an impressive return to the fold and Debbie L has probably got a nosebleed being so high in the Top Ten.

Kate S continues to use the resources at her disposal to great effect but was denied the £20 weekly prize by a girl who has perfected the art of “getting things done” –  for her…

Friday after school :

“Frankie, you need to do your scores, it’s Week 1 and you’re in the CL this season!”

“Cool! Yeah, will do..”

Friday 19:57 :

No scores entered so I put 0-3 for her based on my 0-4 prediction…

Saturday 09:00 :

“You didn’t do your score last night but still got 5 points, make sure you do your scores when you’re back from drama…”

“Cool! Yeah, will do…”

Saturday 12:15 :

No scores entered so I do her scores for her based on her normal, “the higher placed team will beat the lower placed team by one goal unless they’re away, then it will be draw” method + not replicating any of my scores

Monday 22:00 :

I limp home with a score less than Mr 2-0 (having been denied a correct score at least twice thanks to 90th min+ goals) and Frankie Fernandez rocks up with 44 (9)

NINE CORRECT SCORES!!! I’ve never got 9 correct scores EVER!

And when I do, they’re not for me…

I hate PAS.

Ahem, congrats lovely daughter, £20 (that I paid anyway) winging its way back to you my darling…

I’m sure you’ll spend it wisely.

Don’t Go:

Did you score 25 points+ this week?

Wow, we’re in awe…

Eighteen of you managed that but 18 punters couldn’t manage more than 15 points this week  – and four couldn’t muster a correct score.

Shocking.

Not as shocking as the 2 that didn’t break double figures this week though!

Darren McC was spared big blushes courtesy of another scouse tragedy – yep, Mark Seels 7 (0) – it really was a weekend to forget mate…

Correct Score of the Week:

Proper mad scores this week…most popular score was Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Brentford – 27 of us got that!

Six were all over the 0-3 to the Sunderland on Friday night

5 (FIVE!) thrilled at the thrilling Wrexham 3 Crewe 3

Martin S, Matt M & Luke S decided to deploy catenaccio to reap the rewards at Hibs. And they did…

Howard T, Sam A & Chris D were well away with the 1-3 away win for Oxford Utd

Paul V & Debbie L were grateful for the 3-1 Southampton win over Leeds Utd

Ben McK & Matthew S revelled in the schadenfreude of Arsenal’s late late show at Bournemouth

Roshan T will shout out loud about the humbling of Everton by Luton Town

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Will Oppong for his I-like-rugby-and-this-was-always-going-to-be-trying-for-Rovers inspired, Blackburn 1 Leicester City 4!

Bet of the Week:

So, we’ve failed quite spectacularly in the last few seasons on this – actually, we’ve always failed.

But last season, we did alright. Welllllll, alright(ish)…

So!

We’re being brave and we’re gonna stick with it to see how we go!

How?

Whoever is on the “Bet of the Week” position for the following week will be asked to provide a treble selection so we can place the allocated £3 for the bet.

The winnings will stay on that slot and collected by the lucky person residing there at the end of Week 13.

Got that? No?!

OK…

The person on 83rd will make the selections for Week 2, the person on 60th in Week 2 will make the selections for Week 3,the person on 45th in Week 3 will make the selections for Week 4 and the person on 33rd in Week 4 will make the selections for Week 5 and back round again to 83rd…yeah?!

Good.

So, newbie Gary Mitchell is first up.

Mr M, I need your 3 selections by Friday please! It can be homes, aways or draws. It doesn’t have to be football! It can be horses! Or dogs! Or fighting crickets! But not cricket…that’s a step too far!

Let’s get off to a winning start for a change.

No pressure mate..

Table News:

It’s Week 1 – it is what it is! Click here for the full table

Please be aware we lost quite a few players but we can still gain some more (thanks to those of you who recruited the newbies this season – love youse!) – so if you know anyone out there who wants to get involved, put them in touch! It’s never too late…they’ll get a respectable Mr 2-0 20 (4) for Week 1 to boot!
