PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’18 Final table round up!

He’s Big & He’s Effin’ ‘Ard!”:

So, who won?

Well, a newbie PASer who took up the challenge in the summer – and my, how that decision has paid off!

He even had the temerity to claim he finished 4th in his first season on our What’s App group (erm, you are all on that aren’t you?!)

It was a close, compacted, confusing season – whilst Liverpool smoothly glide their way to the title with certainty & consistency, our champion battled & spluttered through just like the rest of us.

Anyone could’ve won it this season.

5 of the Top 12 clocked up as many, or more, correct scores than the champion!

Yep, and it was correct scores that settled it…

Our “Winter” champ started in mid-table obscurity at 52nd, dropped to 58th, down another 3 places in Week 3, before breaking the Top 50 in Week 4 – then a “yo-yo” few weeks saw residency in 52nd, 31st & 35th as we reached the halfway point.

This low point was met with a push into the Top Thirty at 25th in Week 8, before leaping up to 13th a week later.

More yo-yoing?

Yep.

From Week 10 it was down to 18th & then hitting the Top Ten in Week 11, prompting a stubborn stay to the end!

With impeccable timing of a seasoned pro, it was up to 7th before hitting top spot when it mattered – a quite remarkable performance given that our champs usually lead from the front & are rarely out of the Top Ten!

So, be upstanding lords, ladies & gents and doff your caps to Mark Potter 356 (46) – He. Is. A. Winner!

Peter Kay, Nat Lofthouse, Sara Cox, Badly Drawn Boy, Maxine Peake, Mark Radcliffe, Fred Dibnah & Diane Morgan, put wood in t’hole & let the corporation pop flow – our boy done proper reet good! Whack that on a barm!

Mr P won by a mere 2 correct scores lead over the very unlucky, Jack Buxtonin second place.

Jack’s lowest position all season was 4th & any other season….

Anyway, at least he finished four points ahead of a rejuvenated Charlie Harris in third place.

Andy Kelly was only 1 point behind in 4th with a vastly improved finish from last season’s 82nd…

Just one point further back, Ryan Graves reflects on a fine season by finishing in fifth spot with Scott Harrison just behind in 6th by virtue of 5 correct scores.

In seventh heaven was resurgent all-time prize money winner, Jazz Sian – let’s hope Spurs finish there too eh, J?   ; )

Continuing a rich seam of prize-winning form, “Syndicate” top boy again, Richard Hirst scooped 8th place, only 2 correct scores shy of joint 7th but ending up 6 points ahead of Gareth Morgan in 9th (actually, let’s hope Spurs finish there G!)

The double Champions League winner just edged out perennial spot prize botherer Neil Osborne by 2 points in 10th…

“Being Brendan”:

Just 0 points & 0 places separated our new champion from Paul Vinson 239 (17) in Week 1!

Actually, that’s worth thinking about…

The other Mr P never really recovered from there though, down to 83rd, then to 92nd before hitting a peak in Week 4 at 89th!

A slip down to 94th followed, stabilisation in Week 6 – then the slow descent into the nineties culminated with hitting bottom in Week 11.

Paul rallied to 96th in Week 12 before securing the wooden spoon in the final week.

Alex R, our very own Dan H & Shezan J made gallant efforts over the season to save Paul’s blushes, but…

Spot Prizers

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’18 Week 13 round up

Surely not another slip up…

Porsche Majeure”: You can tell it’s the holiday season – people put down crazy scores, crazy scores come in.

Mr 2-0 is oversubscribed as people “forget” or drift off into an alcoholic abyss with little chance of predicting succour.

Form goes out the window & “coupon busters” are celebrated by bookies across the country.

So how do you combat this perennial problem?

Don’t ask me, I had Everton v Spurs as 1-1 & Cardiff to beat Elfin Utd…

However, as Alfredo Morelos netted his 2nd for Rangers in the 88th minute v St Johnstone, the miracle of Christmas left Mark P & Paul C trailing in the wake behind Paul Henshaw 38 (6)

Ding dong (merrily on high)!

The Syndicate will be getting beers this Christmas!

Here’s the science bit – 7 of youse managed 30 points or more.

(Belated) Merry Christmas!

Total Immersion”: It’s Christmas, there are crazy scores expected and there’s last minute shopping to be done.

Why bother doing your scores?

Nick H & Danny A are wondering just that in a week where 14 bods only managed 15 points or less.

Someone who really didn’t have a Danny this week was the professional predicting site Predictz 10 (0) – and if you’ve seen their recent predictions this season you’ll not be baffled!

Correct Score of the Week:

Some crackers here, if only a few..most popular score was Rangers’ 1-2 title winning win at St Johnstone – 25 of youse got that!

Seventeen got Celtic’s 3-0 title winning victory over Dundee

11 got the five point Arsenal v Burnley 3-1

Pab, Frankie F & Paul H got the dull-all at St James’ Park

Darren McC, Rob C & Stuart F got the very annoying last minute spoiling Aston Villa 2 Leeds 3

Five got Derby 3 Millwall 0

Bry D & Kyle B believed in Southampton. A 1-3 kinda belief…

Sam A got the thrilling Hull 3 Swansea 2

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Sam Arora (him! again!) for his I-couldn’t-let-Vardy-have-a-party-alone inspired, Chelsea 0 Leicester 1!

Bet of the Week:

We’ve changed it up!

Danny N was on “Bet of the Week” position 65th in Week 12 so we asked him to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

He nailed it!

3 home wins

Stoke v Millwall (in to “nil”)

Charlton v Gillingham (in to “nil” as well!)

Forest Green v Crewe (in to “nil” as well!!)

Nice one Dan – shame you missed a trick there on the BTNTS

So, £10.74 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th, leaving it very desirable on £23.51 – yay!

Great effort from all our BoTWers this season. Say it quietly, but I think we may be onto something here…

Table News:

Psychic Data”: Nil crashed the Top Ten and highest climber this week, up a whopping 23 places is Paul Henshaw – honourable mentions go to Paul C (+22), Eddie O (+15), Howard T (+14), Darren McC (+12) and Sam A (+10)

These Are Not Your Memories”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 14 places are Danny Ashworth & Stephen Peaston – dishonourable mentions go to Predictz (-13), Nick H (-13), Nick W (-10), John K (-10) and Reagon K (-10)

Full season update is imminent once I can work out what day it is…

Actually, I’ll get it done before you go back to work – honest!

PAS Cup 2018:

In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2019 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is…yeah right, like i’m gonna tell you that now!

Patience is a virtue mes amigos…

PAS Champions League 2018/19 Group Stages: Congratulations to the players who made it through to the knockout stages – you’re like, the best!

And Another Thing:

Thankyou for taking part in another fab season – we couldn’t do it without you!

Please come back soon. Very soon! Actually, it will be early February – fear not, you’ll be getting a constant stream of reminders!

Oh, and bring some friends…

Special thanks to Dan & Dave once again for all their tireless work behind the scenes – they’ve made our online dream reality AND they are currently working on a few things that will really tickle your pickle! Stay tuned!

Prize Money Update  – League prize money will be paid out pronto! (Less your entry fee for next season, natch…)

And Another Another Thing:

We had no defence! Again! That’s why…

+++Statto Corner+++

100% of people nailed Arsenal winning at home
Only 1% of people saw St Mirren winning away
5% of people guessed that QPR would register their first ever away win at Forest

Twitter is dead & so is Instagram – but we’ve got a What’s App group!

Wanna join?

Why?

Well, I send round reminders that you don’t have to check your email for.

Erm…some people are quite funny (some are annoying) & hopefully, we’ll get some more good pics of away fans at games.

We will crush any “hilarious GIFs” though…and don’t dare mention “fantasy” stuff!

Plus, you can gloat when you land that 9 pointer in the 91st minute!

That’s it for this season! Well, nearly….

Merry Christmas!
Pab

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’18 Week 12 round up

He’s coming home to be special again for 2022…

Let Your Dog Tooth Grow”: Apologies for the late update – i’ll cut to the chase!

A fine week for the 22 who smashed in 30 points or more .

Especially the seven who all had a shout of taking this week’s £20.

Will O turned the form book on its head and looked well set to win until the man of mystery mysteriously decided to randomly miss some predictions out.

One of those missed predictions was Hibs v Celtic.

Nick Woodward 39 (6) has this freak result to thank for his debut weekly win.

The luck of Irish…or was it intentional??!

Sugar Tastes Like Salt”: Spookily, twenty two players scored 20 points or less.

Six of those didn’t get a correct score.

Sam A & Rich L had their blushes spared…

by Mark J Brown 11 (0).

Not a good week for Evertonians…

Correct Score of the Week:

The ones that were got, were got…most popular score was Swansea’s 2-1 win over Sheff Wed– 28 of youse got that!

Twenty six got City’s 3-1 win over Everton

23 got Liverpool’s 3-1 deconstruction of Man U

Eight got Villa’s “Desmond” with Stoke City

8 more just knew Dundee would score against Kilmarnock for a 3-1

Five got the two-two in Bristol. The right side of Bristol…

5 more got PNE 3 Millwall 2

Dave C, Patricia F & Richard Hu nailed Blackburn 2 Birmingham 2

Debbie L very annoying last minute spoiling Spurs 1 Burnley 0

Neil C got the bore draw between Derby & Forest

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Rob Currin for his I-hate-doing-my-scores-it’s-boring inspired, Notts County 3 Tranmere 2!

Bet of the Week:

We’ve changed it up!

Alex T was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 11 so we asked him to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

Oooops! Epic fail…

3 wins & BTTS

Villa v Stoke (they both scored but no one won!)

Blackburn v Birmingham (they both scored but no one won!)

Charlton v AFC Wimbledon (they both didn’t score & Charlton won!)

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th, leaving it the one to avoid on £0 – bah!

Danny Norbury, you’re up next! I need your 3 team treble by Friday please! Breathe easy son…

Table News:

Blue Suitcase (Disco Wrist)”:

Jack Buxton remains stays top into the last week, but now only 5 points ahead of Ryan G, who in turn is three points ahead of Charlie H in third.

crashed the Top Ten.

I Only Bought It for the Bottle”:

Alex Rossi slips down 1 place to last into the last week, one point behind Paul V who in turn is 6 points off Patricia F…

Sunflower Seeds”:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 18 places is Will Oppong – honourable mentions go to Tony M (+17), Nick W (+16), Clare T (+16), George T (+16), Ben McK (+15) and John J (+11)

Liminal Spaces”:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 16 places are Paul Smith & Mark J Brown – dishonourable mentions go to Sam A (-14), James C (-13), Chris B (-12) Rowan M (-12), Andy F (-12) and Brett A (-11)

PAS Champions League 2017/18 Knockout Stages:

Matchday 6 Group games went ahead & concluded the Group Stages.

Did you get through?

I didn’t…and two poor souls went out courtesy of correct scores, one by just 1!

We had 13 successful jokers! 1 really successful joker! 3 hammerings! 2 close games! 6 away wins! And, 2 draws!

One won their game with 20 points & 1 lost their game with 29 points!

Full results & tables can be found here

PAS Cup 2018:

In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2019, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play.

And Another Thing:

We had no defence! Again! That’s why…

+++Statto Corner+++

Only an “in the know” 7% reckoned Arsenal wouldn’t get anything from St Mary’s…
A quarter of the field believed in Toon winning at Huddersfield
0% went for a Brighton home win

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’18 Week 11 round up

“Innit…”

How Could I Be Wrong”: I’m with you Rafa!

The sooner VAR is here the better! Why is it not here already??! Huh? Huh?!

15 bods racked up 30 points or more this week.

And spearheading it all on Saturday night was moi, with a rather handsome well thought out 39 points.

Just one more CS over the Sunday & Monday would surely see me right. It was mine to lose, right?

Right!

Whilst all around picked up their “just one more to win it” I had to wait.

Wait til the 29th match.

And there it was, checked on the Forza app, Toon 1-1 Wolves (93 mins) – smugness ensued and dreams of £20 not leaving my account for once were real…

Charlie H, Mark P & Stephen P were all in the mix too but now overtaken…

Wolves scored in the 94th minute handing Stockport’s finest, Ric Pardoe 41 (7) the spoils.

(grits teeth) Well done Ric, I’m sure Rob C at least will share your delight!

Me? I can’t work out if I hate the ref, Toon or the Old Gold…

Idiot Brother”: I usually feel weekly pain by being a bit rubbish.

A whopping 31 players couldn’t even reach the 20 points mark this week so maybe I should just suck it up and shut up.

A magnificent seven didn’t get a correct score.

Lagging way off the pace this week was Will Oppong 9 (0).

Still, 21 unbeaten eh Will?!   : )

Correct Score of the Week:

Just when I thought it was all over…most popular score was Dirty Leeds’ 2-1 win over QPR – 23 of youse got that!

20 got the West Midlands derby five point 2-2

Five nailed Millwall 2 Hull 2

5 more got the two-two in South Yorkshire. The right side of South Yorkshire…

Andy C, Danny N & Bijay L got Everton’s “Desmond” with Watford

Scott H, Paul V & me obviously guessed Livingston would beat St Mirren 3-1

Jamie S, Andy F & Richard Hu definitely guessed W Ham 3 Palace 2 (how?????)

Francesca F & Sam A saw their typo come good for 9 points on the game at Norwich

Stephen P landed the thrilling Man Utd 4 Fulham 1

John K made us all green by happening upon Birmingham 0-1 Bristol City

Debbie L believed in Torriera. A 1-0 kinda belief…

Dan H tinkered with the PAS timelapse cog in the back end and nabbed Bournemouth 0 Liverpool 4

(he didn’t new people!)

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Alex Taylor for his I-know-how-Scottish-Prem-sure-things-work inspired, Dundee 1 Rangers 1!

Bet of the Week:

We’ve changed it up!

Paul H was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 10 so we asked him to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

We won!! First full house of the season! Top work P!

3 home wins

Portsmouth

Colchester

Mansfield

So, a cheeky £8.15 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd, taking it to £11.40 – sweet!

Alex Taylor, you’re up next! I need your 3 team treble by Friday please! An even tougher act to follow…

Table News:

Show Girl”:

Jack Buxton remains in top spot now 9 points ahead of Ryan G, who in turn is 2 points ahead of Andy K in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten.

Junk Shop Clothes”:

Paul Vinson is still stuck to the bottom, but now four points behind Alex R who in turn is 7 points off Frankie F…

New French Girlfriend”:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 26 places is Ric Pardoe – honourable mentions go to El Presidente (+23), Stephen P (+21), Jamie S (+16), Danny A (+13) and Danny N (+21)

Light Aircraft On Fire”:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 19 places is Tim Payne – dishonourable mentions go to Matt W (-14), Rob C (-14), Kyle B (-16) Paul H (-16), Ben McK (-15) and Will O (-15)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’18 Week 10 round up

“Playing football the (new) Arsenal way…”

Some Kind Of Wonderful”: Did you miss predicting your scores this week?

Or did you just decide to follow Mr 2-0?

Wise choice on either as 19 punters scored 30 points or more in a horrible week of results (for some. A lot. Me, basically…)

6 people could’ve won it as the bottom feeders rose to the top for their 15 minutes in the sun.

Newcomer Tim P could’ve won! My mum (!!) could’ve won as both racked up a seemingly implausible 35 points!

But it wasn’t to be as Steve Meaton 36 (6) was one person who didn’t “Spurs” it this week.

He left it late though as his final, crucial, correct score came in the guise of Guiseley going out the FA Cup to Joey’s Fleetwood.

Patricia was raging mate, beware…

What’s Going On”:  I told you it was a rogue week!

Twenty nine players posted 20 points or less as the last minute goals either went in (yeah, you Pickford!) or didn’t materialise (why coudln’t we get a 5th??!)

Four poor souls had no correct scores!

Stuart F escaped the ultimate weekly humiliation, but Neil Osborne (league leader – eek!), Neil Critchlow & Paul Vinson 12 (0) all wished they had forgotten to play.

Although, technically, you could say they did just that…

Correct Score of the Week:

Not sure how, but you lot crushed it…most popular score was Rangers’ 1-2 win at Hearts – 32 of youse got that!

Eighteen just knew Rotherham would score against Norwich for a 3-1

10 got the very annoying 79th minute spoiling Man City 3 Bournemouth 1

Six got the five point Reading v Stoke 2-2

5 got the 3 goal demolition of PNE

Dave N, Chris B & Lee F got the dull-all at the Racecourse Ground

Patricia F & Alex R obviously guessed Hamilton would beat St Mirren 1-3

Mark J B saw his typo come good on the game at Sheff Utd

James C nailed Southampton 2 Man Utd 2

Richard Hu made us all green by happening upon QPR 2 Hull 3

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Sam Arora for his I-know-a-goal-fest-when-I-see-one inspired, Blackburn 4 Sheff Wed 2!

Bet of the Week:

We’ve changed it up!

Rob C was on “Bet of the Week” position 11th in Week 9 so we asked him to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

We won!! Another good win too!

3 home wins with BTTS

Leicester v Watford – boooo (how did Watford not score?!)

Norwich v Rotherham – hurrah (always on once Rotherham scored first!)

Blackburn v Sheff Wed – hurrah (never in doubt!)

So, a handsome £8.44 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th…at least it’s something!

Paul H, you’re up next! I need your 3 team treble by Friday please! Another tough act to follow…

Table News:

Let’s Get It On”: Jack Buxton moves up one to the top of the table 2 points ahead of Jazz S, who in turn is 5 points ahead of Scott H in third.

Two crashed the Top Ten.

Too Busy Thinking About My Baby”: Paul Vinson drops two places to rock bottom, one point behind Alex R who in turn is 8 points off Frankie F…

You’re All I Need To Get By”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping 18 places is Steve Meaton – honourable mentions go to Tim P (+16), Alex T (+15), Jamie S (+13), John K (+13), Simon B (+11) and Debbie L (+11)

Got To Give It Up”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 16 places is Stuart Fitzsimon – dishonourable mentions go to Joe M (-15), Sam C (-14), Simon Lindq (-14), Darren McC (-13) and Yours Truly (-12)

Out are Simon B, Jerry S, Me, Stephen P, Mark S, Simon B, Rowan M & Tony M

Congratulations to Martin S, Kyle B, Dave N, Justin C, Jazz S, Arthur H, Ryan G & Ben H who’ve all made it through to the knockout stages next year!

But next year…

+++Statto Corner+++

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’18 Week 9 round up

“Feels like…”

Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money)”: It was a good week to be good!

And lots of people were good.

23 players amassed 30 points or more and all were in with a good shout of the weekly prize.

Going closest were Brett A, Mark P & Paul H – all hitting the high end of the thirties…

Close as it was though, it took a nonchalant 93rd minute goal from the Premier League runaway leaders to secure Arthur Harrison 42 (8) the £20 reward…

Congrats Mr H, that’s Scott’s Christmas pressie sorted then…

What Have I Done To Deserve This”: This definitely wasn’t a week to be bad at PAS.

Lots of people were bad at PAS.

27 punters mustered less than twenty points – eeeek!

Suffering most were Justin Corliss & Rowan Marriott 13 (0)

See what happens when you don’t pay your entry fee on time?

Tut tut…

Correct Score of the Week:

Didn’t I do well…most popular score was Brighton’s 1-1 draw with Leicester– 36 of us got that!

Twenty six were all over the 0-3 to the Celtic

22 got the Rangers 3 goal demolition of Livingston

Sixteen got the correctly over-hyped 0-4 at the Olympic Stadium

7 got the five point Stoke v QPR 2-2

Six got the dull-all at the DW

4 got Watford 0 Liverpool 3

Julian F, Moi & Mark P got the bore draw between St Johnstone & Kilmarnock

Paul H & Richard Hu got the two-two in South Yorkshire. The wrong side of South Yorkshire…

Me (again!) & Richard Hu (again!) believed in Fulham. A 3-2 kinda belief…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Patricia Fernandez for her don’t-call-it-a-comeback inspired, Hibs 2 Dundee 2!

Bet of the Week:

We’ve changed it up!

Debbie L was on “Bet of the Week” position 65th in Week 8 so we asked her to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

We won!! My, how we won!!

3 draws

Millwall v Bolton – tick (‘Wall never give up…)

Man Utd v Palace – tick (fair play Debs – you nailed that one!)

Swansea v Norwich – cross (Blimey, they got Fry’d!!!)

So, a whopping £12.65 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th leaving it on £13.77…kerr-chhing!!

Rob Currin, you’re up next! I need your 3 team treble by Friday please! Tough act to follow…

Table News:

Being Boring”:  Neil Osborne stays top of the table but now only 4 points ahead of Jack B, who in turn is 6 points ahead of rousing sleeping giant Jazz S in third.

Two crashed the Top Ten.

Left To My Own Devices”:  Alex Rossi drops one place to the bottom, four points behind Patricia F who in turn is 9 points off Paul V…

So Hard”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 20 places is Chris Dixon – dishonourable mentions go to Rowan M (-19), Paul C (-19), Justin C (-16), Andy F (-16), Alex T (-15) and Stephen P (-13)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’18 Week 8 round up

“We’re gonna score 5 more than you…”

It’s Real”: The What’s App group was alight with groans & moans, near misses and last minute heartbreak as International Week wreaked its merry hell once again!

The more seasoned players yearned for the days of yore when it was pretty much nailed on you’d grab a brace of 5-0s. Well, at least one 4-0.

Now it’s all different!

There’s a new crowd in town, there are no easy games and the new PASers are changing it up & adapting!

19 players managed a respectable 30 points or more (* bow *) with Rob C, Mike K, Martin S & Clare T all staking claims to the £20 weekly prize.

But, with a very creditable 40+ tally, Andy Kelly 45 (8) struck a blow for the newcomers as his 2nd season starts to pay dividends.

And putting the Old Guard in their place to boot…

Viva la difference!

Out Of Tune”: Oooof – the old skool got got!

Seventeen people notched up 20 points or less with Alex T having the ignominy of being the only person not to get a correct score.

Horrific!

One original PASer (I won’t name you Jamie S) had his blushes saved courtesy of Patricia Fernandez 11 (1) continuing her mission for another wooden spoon.

To be fair, she does actually buy them for me, so…

Correct Score of the Week:

Didn’t we do well…most popular score was Eng-er-land’s 2-1 win over Croatia– 41(!) of us got that!

Ten got the very annoying last minute spoiling Germany 2 Holland 2

9 got the 4 goal Macedonia demolition of Gibraltar

Seven got the dull-all in Andorra

Jazz S, Paul S & Mike K got Kosovo’s thrashing of Azerbaijan

Martin S & Moi got the (most excellent) bore draw between Italy & Portugal

Will O & Mike K (again!) got the thrilling Scotland 3 Israel 2

Darren McC got San Marino 0 Moldova 1

Howard T got Denmark 0 Ireland 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

Andy F got Kosovo’s 0-5 deconstruction of Malta

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Joe Shore for his I-study-numbers-for-living inspired, Liechtenstein 2 Armenia 2!

Bet of the Week:

We’ve changed it up!

Pete B was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 7 so we asked him to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

We lost. Again.    : (

3 draws

Albania v Scotland (after that early sending off…)

Italy v Portugal (got the point need *smiley face*)

Turkey v Sweden (Hmmmmm, how did that happen?)

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th leaving it on £0…oops!

Debbie Lee, you’re up next! I need your 3 team treble by Friday please!

100 passes off being REALLY gross…

With Every Heartbeat”: Dunno about you, but, literally from the off this week, I was left reeling as score after score filtered in the polar opposite to what I predicted. I had a score of 4(1) on Saturday night…

“Nothing new there Pablo” I hear you all thinking, but really, c’mon…

Jeez!

In a week where only 5 players managed 30 points or more, another displaced Scouser threatened to make it another Everton weekly win as Andy F notched up a tidy 36 points.

However, never write off a Gooner!

Especially a Viking one!

Our friend from the Norse, Anders Hoglund 39 (6) cut a swathe through the bleak week and pillaged the £20 weekly prize courtesy of two last minute goal enhanced correct scores at the start & end of the week.

Mr H, tip your horned helmet to Messrs Samba of Cardiff and Joey B of Fleetwood…

Skol!

Konichiwa Bitches”: Guess what?! Frankie had a decent week – which can only spell bad news for others!

Thirty three people couldn’t muster more than 15 points this week with Alex R posting a particular paltry nine points…

But a bouncer & someone from Game of Thrones went one worse –

Howard Thomas & Reagon Karki 8 (0) hang your heads in shame…

Correct Score of the Week:

Words escape me…most popular score was Citeh’s 3-1 drubbing of Man Yoo– 23 of youse got that!

Six got the very annoying last minute spoiling Alfreton 1 Fleetwood 4

Matt W & Paul C got the dull-all at the City Ground

Stuart F & Joe M obviously guessed St Johnstone would beat Hamilton 4-0

Gary B got Hearts 0 Kilmarnock 1

Neil C believed in PNE. A 0-1 kinda belief…

Martin S got the bore draw between Leicester & Burnley

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Andy Fowler for his ding-dong-West-London-derby inspired, QPR 3 Brentford 2!

Bet of the Week:

We’ve changed it up!

Jerry S was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 6 so we asked him to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

We lost  : (

Leicester – out (how did that Vardy effort get cleared?!)

Norwich – in (made hard work of it though!)

Forest – out (Stoke are the new, erm, Stoke!)

“remember the name…”

Brass In Pocket”:

Big big scoring week this week people!

If you didn’t score 30 points or more, that’s you left looking up at 32 others – yep, it was that kinda week!

Big correct score tallies too – four bods weighed in with 7 each and three of those smashed through the 40 point barrier.

Woooo!

Two ex-prolific ex-champs (CL & League respectively) got 8 correct scores each and pushed hard for the weekly prize.

Alas, just like Spurs, Gareth M & Jazz S just fell short of former glories as ex-pat Scouser Mark J Brown 46 (8) stole in to take the weekly £20 and, record the new season high for a weekly score for good measure!

Save it for a Greggs fiesta next time you’re back eh, Marcus!   : )

Thing is though, is it ironic he has Stevie G to thank after that 92nd minute goal secured his win?

Back On The Chain Gang”:

Under 20 points this week?

Yep?

Well, that’s you and 14 other unfortunates who really really felt it this week.

Hira Y really felt it as he was the only person not to get a correct score!

But he still wasn’t the week’s worst…

Despite Frankie F putting in another abject performance, even she couldn’t save the blushes of Mike Krasnowski 13 (1).

Sullied.

Correct Score of the Week:

Well, well, well…most popular score was Man Utd’s last minute 1-2 win at Bournemouth– 34 of us got that!

Twenty one got the 3-1 Chelsea win over C Palace

12 got Derby’s 3-1 win over Birmingham City

Seven got the five point 3-1 that was Everton v Brighton

5 got the dull-all at the Britannia Stadium

Matt W, Andy C & Norman L nailed Wolves 2 Spurs 3

Mark J B & Reagon K just knew Hull would score against WBA for a 1-0

And…

No one got a unique correct score!

A first…I think!

Bet of the Week:

We’ve changed it up!

Bry D was on “Bet of the Week” position 11th in Week 5 so we asked him to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

We won! Again!

Leicester – yep (never in doubt was it!)

Swansea– nope (Rotherham??!)

Sunderland – yep (lucky Black Cats!)

Just in case they want to swap scarves…

Everything Counts”:

Sometimes there are no last minute twists that win you a week.

Sometimes you just grind it out and sit there sweating for 21 minutes praying another goal doesn’t ruin an absolute pearler of a prediction…

It was really tight this week (well, for most…) – only 9 bods posted more than 30 points whilst vast swathes were deep into the twenties.

Hapless Alex R rallied with 5 correct scores and was joined there by Olly O, Norman L, James C and our own Dave N (ahem!).

But 32 or 33 points just didn’t cut it as the braggadocio that announced his debut chat on our ever entertaining What’s App group (have you joined yet?) was matched by a swaggering 10 pointer only a current champion can pull off!

Yep, the big Geordie Stephen Peaston 36 (4) roared back into the mix to plunder this week’s £20 courtesy of a game with 6 goals that managed to not produce another in its last quarter!

Mad.

Just Can’t Get Enough”:

Put it this way. I had enough. Too much.

Have you tried Super Bock Stout? How about Porto’s finest “wine”? I won’t even tell how many pastel de natas I put away either.

I put my pathetic score down to jet lag.

Actually, train lag.

The 8am Saturday morning one from Lisboa to Oporto.

Oh, and the Sagres. And the frango. And the octopus hot dogs. AND, the dizziness of 12 wins on the bounce…

Paul Vinson 13 (0), what was your excuse?

Correct Score of the Week:

*Hic*…most popular score was Man Utd’s 2-1 win over Everton– 30 of youse got that!

Fourteen got the dull-all at St Mary’s

7 got Watford’s 3-0 deconstruction of Huddersfield

Five got Millwall 3 Ipswich 0

4 got Birmingham’s 3-1 win over Sheff Wed

Dave N, Jazz S & Reagon K were all over the Scottish League Cup 0-3 to the Celtic

Richard Hu & John K got the two-two in London. The wrong right side of London…

Gary B & Joe M got Chelsea’s thrashing of Burnley

Stuart F & Debbie L got the thrilling Liverpool 4 Cardiff 1

Neil O & James C got the ding dong derby on the Fylde coast

Norman L made us all green by happening upon Fulham 0-3 Bournemouth

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Best Correct Score of the Season, goes to Stephen Peaston for his I-am-the-current-champion-so-beware inspired, Sheff Utd 4 Wigan 2!

Bet of the Week:

“Yep, Armenia v Gibraltar affected today’s attendance…” (pic: Daniel Vinson)

Radio Tokyo”: Did you experience the rollercoaster ride that is “International Week”?

Did the “ups” outweigh the “downs”?

Personally, I was head first into oblivion with a disastrous 6 point opening salvo only to whipped round a corner to a 5 correct score high soon after…the dip to the finish was a lot easier after that.

So, thirty five people scored 30 points or more this week meaning the benchmark was very high indeed – current champion Stephen P & habitual CL botherer Gareth M both notched up 40 points and Debbie L had something of an epiphany racking up a whacking 43 points!

Yeah, it was that kinda week.

However, thanks to either a dubious decision chalking off a Dzeko goal, or a late late Finnish finish or a Biraghi goal breaking Polish hearts in the 92nd minute, Neil Osborne 45 (9) is this week’s winner!

A well deserved £20 winging it’s way to you Neil.

Psssst! Neil, you’ll be pleased to hear there’s another international week coming up soon mate!  : )

Negative Space”: Did you nosedive from the start and never recover?

15 players scored less than 20 points this week – were you involved?

Well,

Four unfortunates didn’t even manage a correct score.

David G only got 14 (0)

Hmmmmm…

Ultimately, my little girl Frankie Fernandez 10 (0) really suffered from not studying the form(!) this week and was banned from asking unicorns for advice ever again as a consequence…

Correct Score of the Week:

I actually got amongst it this week…most popular score was France’s 2-1 win over Germany – 28 of youse got that!

23 got the Luxembourg 3 goal demolition of San Marino

Seven got the thrilling Kazakhstan 4 Andorra 0

5 obviously guessed Kosovo would beat Malta 3-1

Four made us all green by happening upon Gibraltar 2-1 Liechtenstein

Four more were all over the 9 pointer, 2-3 to the Eng-er-land

Pete B & Shezan J got the dull-all in Dublin

Clare T & Julian F got the bore draw between Croatia & England

Martin S & Tony M got Russia 0 Sweden 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there

Jamie S & Simon Linds just knew Liechtenstein would score against Macedonia for a handsome 4-1

Debbie L & Hira Y believed in Portugal. A 2-3 kinda belief…

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Correct Score of the Season, goes to Patricia Fernandez for her history-in-the-making inspired, Armenia 0 Gibraltar 1!

Bet of the Week:

We changed it up!

Shezan J was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 2 so we asked him to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

We won!

Here’s to many more…

Hungary to win in Greece – nope (that ex-Fulham fella saw to that…)

Belgium to beat Switzerland – yep (Romelu on the case!)

Ireland to draw with Denmark – yep (the best 0-0 ever…for us!)

So, £3.25 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd –   : )

+++Statto Corner+++

6% of predictors thought Israel would beat Scotland 2-1!

0 people thought Holland would beat Germany 3-0!

91% correctly predicted Belgium would beat Switzerland!

Erm, i’m 100% not very good at being statto – Dave/Dan, I need help!

Twitter is dead & so is Instagram – but we’ve got a What’s App group!

Wanna join?

Well, I send round reminders that you don’t have to check your email for.

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’18 Week 2 round up

“Riyad, see that row with Z on it? It went above there…” (pic: Neil Meredith)

Blue Eyes”:

So I’ll get the sob story out the way early doors – I got the most results right this week without a single correct score – waaaaaah! If you were part of our ever entertaining What’s App group, you’ll be all too familiar with my woes…

But before you mock though, only 28 people scored more than 20 points in Week 2 – so there!

Anyway,

Five scored 30 points or more * gritted teeth emoji *

Nick W produced an inspired late late debut performance, Matt W pushed on from his cracking best correct score from last week and Ben H celebrated another fine weekly total – all notching a very creditable 31 points.

After smashing in 9 points from the game where I was waiting on 10 (see below), Richard Hirst 32 (4) sneaked away with the £20 prize all thanks to Alexis Sanchez actually scoring.

In the last minute.

Meh.

“Tricky” must have been happy as a clam what with Forest beating Boro too! Aye Karanka!

Well done young man (said in a ‘Pools accent)

Kennedy”:

Gawd! Can you imagine not getting a correct score and failing to beat a 10 year old girl who puts as much effort into her scores as a millennial does looking up from their phone?

Frankie Fernandez got 10 (0)

So did Sam Arora, Will Oppong, Alex Rossi & Andy Fowler.

Our Famous Five spared the blushes of Nick H, Peter M, Paul V, Bill P and Mr 2-0 (lolz) who all scrambled a correct score-less eleven points!

Think Jose’s “little finger” may have been pointed in your direction…

Correct Score of the Week:

I despair, I really do…most popular score was Killy’s 1-2 win at Dundee – 20 of youse got that!

16 got the 0-3 Chelsea (Morata stealing) win over Southampton (yep, I had 0-2…)

Ten got the thrilling WBA 4 Reading 1 (yep, I had 4-2…)

4 obviously guessed Rangers would beat Hearts 3-1 (yep, I had 2-1…)

Darren McC & Dave C got Birmingham 2 Rotherham 1 (yep,….)

Matt W & Mike K got the very nice 9 points courtesy of Aberdeen 4 St Mirren 1

Gareth M nailed Brighton 1 West Ham 0

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Clare Templeton for her I-see-through-the-Sky-hype inspired, Liverpool 0 Man City 0! Jesus!

Bet of the Week:

We changed it up!

Charlie H was on “Bet of the Week” position 11th in Week 1 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 bet.

And guess what?!

We lost!

Not the most auspicious of starts again then eh?!

Tranmere to win at Morecambe – tick (after much late drama!)

Burnley to beat Huddersfield – cross (they let Huddersfield SCORE??!)

Livingston to win at Motherwell – crosser… (against 10 men as well!)

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th –   : (

Shezan J, you’re up next! I need your 3 team treble by Friday please! No pressure…

Table News:

Silver Shorts”:  Ben Hogwood moves up 1 place to go 9 points ahead of Richard H who in turn is one correct score ahead of Julian F in third.

Loads crashed the Top Ten.

Brassneck”:  Ooops! Sam Arora goes down four places to the bottom of the pile one point behind Alex R who in turn is 1 point off Patricia F…

Flying Saucer”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping 56 places is Howard Thomas – honourable mentions go to Mike K (+47), Nick W (+39), Pete B (+36), Norman L (+35), Neil B (+34), Nathan T (+33) and Chris B (+31)

Falling”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 41 places is Will Oppong – dishonourable mentions go to Andy F (-38), Peter M (-37), Mr 2-0 (-33), Kate S (-32) and Jerry S (-32)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’18 Week 1 round up

“Oooh you are awful…”

Gold & A Pager:

I did my scores from a position of excellent preparation, plenty of research and a knowing that it’d be a week that would go as it should be…

Ahem.

So apologies for the lateness of this update – i’ve been in shock. And in Dublin. And in pubs…

Anyway, quite a lot of you clearly knew what I didn’t.

Best of the bunch?

Jack Buxton 43 (7) deftly manoeuvred in front of the other 3 people to score forty points or more this week thanks to a Sturridge wonder goal & a Sakho forearm!

Those late twists nicely bookending the Week 1 theme!

If you got 30 points or more this week, you were one of 17 – I doff my cap, you jammy…

So, congrats Jack, £20 winging it’s way back to you ASAP – always the best week to win innit!

88:

Did you score 20 points + this week?

Wow, I’m in awe…

25 of us couldn’t manage more than 19 points this week.

Shocking.

Not as shocking as Senor Sanchez though eh?! Nacho has scored more goals than him since he left <smiley face>

One Gooner feeling a bit “Alexis” though is Dave Crisp 13 (1).

He crashed to the bottom this week, but he did have the equally hapless Daniel Vinson for company though…

Tut tut Danny boy!

Correct Score of the Week:

It’s gonna be one of those season’s again…most popular score was Bristol City’s 1-1 draw with Villa – 29 of youse got that!

10 got the five-pointer 2-2 between Blackburn & Forest

7 got the 3-1 for Kilmarnock v Motherwell

4 got the very nice 9 points courtesy of PNE 2 WBA 3

Neil B, Rowan M & Shezan J got the 3 goal demolition of Fulham (by Everton)

Darren McC & Richard Hu got the two all draw between Rotherham & Stoke

Olly O & Andy F nailed Swansea 3 QPR 0

Paul V & Norman L both benefitted from Brentford 2 Reading 2

Simon B pulled a plum with Livingston 1-0 Rangers

Andy F (again!) just knew Derby wouldn’t score at Bolton

Howard T got the 4th “Desmond” of the season – Birmingham v Ipswich

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Matt Worsfold for his cor-blimey-guvnor-apples-n-pears inspired, West Ham 3 Man Utd 1! Blindin’!

Bet of the Week:

So, we’ve failed epically in the last few seasons on this – actually, we’ve always failed.

So!

This year we’re changing it up!

Whoever is on the “Bet of the Week” position for the following week will be asked to provide a treble selection so we can place the allocated £3 for the bet.

The winnings will stay on that slot and collected by the lucky person residing there at the end of Week 13.

Got that? No?!

OK.

The person on 11th will make the selections for Week 2, the person on 33rd in Week 2 will make the selections for Week 3,the person on 45th in Week 3 will make the selections for Week 4 and the person on 65th in Week 4 will make the selections for Week 5 and back round again to 11th…yeah?!

Good.

So, Darren McCarthy, Charlie Harris & Scott Harrison are all in joint 11th, but Charlie Harris was 1st out the hat.

Charlie, I need your 3 team treble by Friday please! No pressure then…

Table News:

It’s Week 1 – it is what it is! Click here for the full table

Please be aware we may lose some players but we may gain some – so if you know anyone out there who wants to get involved, put them in touch! It’s never too late…and we’re really close to that magical 100 player benchmark, so go get ’em people!
