PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’14 Week 10 round up

Wide Awake”: What is it with this 30 point barrier all of a sudden? Only six crossed that line this week (a bizarre week to be fair) and our very own Dave N & Neil C can feel a bit aggrieved that 33 points didn’t quite cut it. This week’s £20 goes to a young man who is back in the fold after a few years out – probably the “wunderkind” moniker hanging heavy on his shoulders after taking PAS by storm as an eight year old – and I bet he’s as glad as us he’s back now! Well done Josh Hirst 34 (6), you’re this season’s youngest weekly winner!

Violent Shiver”: Ooops! Bragging rights for me & Frankie this week – Michelle Fernandez 7 (0) get to your room and have a good think about what you’ve done!

Correct Score of the Week:

Wow! You were back on it this week – most popular score was Bury’s draw at home with Luton – 19 of youse got that!

8 got the 0-0 in Hull & seven got the 3-0 at Pride Park

6 got Aberdeen’s 3-0 thrashing of Hamilton & 4 got the 1-0 to Blackpool.

Neil C & Jamie T got the stalemate at Reading and Graham E & Alex R got the dull-off between Rotherham and Cardiff

Predictz & Julian F got Spurs 0 Palace 0 and Paul V & Jason M got Ross Co 2 – 3 Dundee Utd

Matt W landed the 9 pointer at Portman Road.

Steve M had the very entertaining Motherwell 0 Celtic 1.

Dave N nailed the 1-0 for Bristol City v Telford

Alex R got the 2-1 between the Terriers and the Bees

Paul V got the shock home defeat for Blackburn

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Dave Crisp for his “there’s only one Invincible team” inspired, Newcastle Utd 2 Chelsea 1.

PAS Lucky 13 Winter 13 Week 13 round up

“Fresh”: He’s seen someone trying to overhaul his “best tally for the season” score so thought he’d better do something about it! Trying to get 80 points in a week was way out the question, but Tony Bowley 41 (6) did manage to smash past Ian P & Tony M to secure the final £20 weekly prize of the season. But did he make the Top Ten?  #laterun
”Losing My Mind”: They were locked in a battle royale to finish bottom and seemed hell bent on achieving their aim to the extent they cancelled each other out! Norman Lee & Shashi Arora 9 (0) take the final dishonour of the season, but who finished bottom? #trapdoorslide
Correct Score of the Week: A fine final flurry… most popular score was Everton’s 2-1 win over Southampton – 23 of us got that!
7 got the 0-0 at The Keepmoat and seven got the 3-0 between Spurs & Stoke.
Francesca F/Richard H/IanP  got the 0-0 in Wigan and Stephen S & Savan A more got the two-two between Cardiff & Sunderland.
Reda A & Steve M got the 2-3 for The Blues over The Blues & Whites.Paul Cart got Norwich  0-1 Man Utd and Dan P got the nil-one win for Arsenal at Newcastle.Savan A got Watford’s 0 -0 draw against QPR and Gary B got Hibs 3-0 crushing of Kilmarnock

However, this week’s best correct score and best correct score of the season goes to Gary Blackburne for his I-can’t-believe-this-I-think-i’m-going-to-fai.., Huddersfield 5 Yeovil 1.

Gary has had a bit of trouble with his ticker this Christmas, so hopefully this will warm his cockles (a whole £7!) – get well soon mate you were the highest placed Palace fan!

Table News:

Paul Henshaw stays in top spot to secure the title 6 points ahead of  Tony M in 2nd, who in turn finished fourteen points in front of long time leader Pete B in third.

“Was It Worth it?”:

Dave Tagger stays bottom to claim the wooden spoon (and it will make a return this season!) two points adrift of Norman L who in turn was 5 points behind Shashi A

And Another Thing:

Big big thanks to Dave N & Dan H for all their hard work & commitment to making this groundbreaking season happen – I think we can all agree it was a resounding success (if a little glitchy at the start!).

The boys are so buoyed with confidence right now they’ve come up with PAS Online v2.0 that will be launched in time for the new season.

I’ve been told to tell you the site will be down for a few days whilst the changeover takes place. I’ve seen the new site – it’s bright! But it’s not orange. More red….

PAS Lucky 13 Winter 13 Week 12 round up

“The Magic Number”:
A fine week to get at least 30 points especially as it’s the penultimate week & the scores were *that” random. A fine week to win then too eh? Paul H had a go (more about him later), Rowan M had a go (“it’s hard work looking after 8 kids AND finding time to do your scores”), hell, even Dan R had a go, and he’s Palace! “Have a go all you like,” said Mark Seels 36(5), “we are the syndicate! Give me that £20 cos i’m the daddy now!” Well, I think that’s what he said. He’s northern y’know…   #merrychristmas
“Potholes In My Lawn”:
Not a good week to crawl into double figures ESPECIALLY as it’s the penultimate week! Mr 2-0 and his sucker followers were left floundering as was little Frankie F (“it’s Christmas, scores can do one…”). So who was left rock bottom for the festive period? Ladies & gentleman, the King is dead. Jazz Sian 10(0) is either setting us all up for a sting or he needs some Sherwood sparkle too! #bahhumbug
Correct Score of the Week:How on earth… most popular score was Everton’s 1-2 win over Swansea – 24 of youse got that!

14 got the 3-1 at Pride Park and eight got the 3-1 between Liverpool & Cardiff.

8 got the 3-1 in Manchester & four got the nil-nil between Hibs & St Johnstone.

4 got the 3-0 for The ‘Well over The Saints & Nick H/Matt W/Jamie T got the Sunderland 0 Norwich 0.

Paul H got Arsenal 0-0 Chelsea and Alex R got the nil-nil draw for Huddersfield against Brighton.

Rob C got Charlton’s 1-1 draw at Bolton.

However, this week’s best correct score AND new best correct score of the season goes to Ryan Graves for his throw-caution-to-the-wind-cos-we’ll-be-top-of-the-league-whatever, Fulham 2 Man City 4.

Congratulations to all our qualifiers, you are indeed the cream of the PAS crop! Groups A, B & G were decided by “correct score difference” and the gift that was Group H kept on giving right up to the end as we witnessed yet ANOTHER draw, saw a qualifier go through on the lowest points tally and a heartbreaker for someone on 7 points – excellent stuff! Well done you! The draw for the last 16 will take place by Week 13…

PAS Lucky 13 Winter 13 Week 11 round up

“Everything Counts”: We had tweet proclaiming her potential win, but no. We had a scrapping performance from one of our Palace friends that The Special One would’ve applauded, but no. Quite how Neil Osborne 38(6) managed such a big score is beyond me after this week’s collection of unpredictable scorelines. On reaching such heady heights & winning £20, let’s hope Neil doesn’t collapse with nervous exhaustion like his dad did in *that* Cup Final in 78!   #amIlying?
“Just Can’t Get Enough”: Ahem, is it apt, coincidence or karma that Dave Crisp 6(0) matched Citeh’s tally this week? After such a dire display let’s hope he doesn’t collapse like the family gee-gee did in *that* Grand National back in ’75! #amIreallylying?
Correct Score of the Week:Didn’t we do well! No one got the tennis score though… most popular score was Newcastle’s 1-1 draw with Southampton – 24 of us got that!

4 got the 0-0 at The Boleyn and four more got the nil-nil between Hull City & Stoke City.

Ben McK / Gary B / Will O got the 0-3 in Doncaster & Jamie S / Andy C / Sam A got the nil-one between Boro & Brighton.

Simon Linds & Reda A got the 4-1 for the Toffees over the Cottagers &  Anders H & Gareth M got Huddersfield 0 Reading 1.

Howard T & Paul V got Aston Villa 0-3 Man Utd

Rich L got the two-one win for Chelsea  against Palace & Howard T (again!) got Blackburn’s 3-2 win against Millwall.

Alex R got Birmingham’s 0-2 at Bournemouth, Gary B (again!) got Watford 0 Sheff Wed 1 & Ben H got Pompey 0-2 Newport Co.

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Simon Lindquist for his pre-Hogmanay, Kilmarnock 1 Dundee Utd 4.

“Feel Good Hit Of The Summer”: In his own words he had a “Super Sunday” despite leaving the Fulham game in the hands of Mr 2-0! Dan Hogwood 35 (4) eased past Paul H & his dad to secure his second weekly win of the season! The light of doubt & suspicion is at full beam on PAS Towers… #it’safix
“Quick and to the Pointless”: He took much delight righting my wrong assumption of the origin of Santa Claus this weekend, but where that may be folklore & legend, it’s a fact that Rob Currin 7 (0) is this week’s sorry loser! Ho ho ho… #it’sdefinitelyafix

PAS Lucky 13 Winter 13 Week 9 round up

“Someone Great”: I hate Chesterfield. They’ve got a stupid church with a rubbish spire, they’re from a county that gives Yorkshire a run for its money in the most hated stakes and they conspired to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory v Boro back in ’97 when I had money on them. They scored a 91st minute “consolation” goal at Newport on Sunday…much to the delight of James Challinor 38(5) as he swooped past me to pick up this week’s £20. Well done James, hope this makes up for keeping you from your beauty sleep this weekend with all the Dundee U shenanigans! #1stis1st&2ndisnowhere“Get Innocuous!”: “We’re red & blue, you know it’s true!” Palace lose and a PAS Palace fan suffers the consequences. Art imitating real life or real life dictating to losers playing a football game?  Hmmmm, maybe it should be changed to “blue & blue”… Howard Thomas 9(0) is the latest Palace victim to have a ‘mare! #JeffThomas’sshotforEngland

Correct Score of the Week:

What a bumper week… most popular score was Newcastle’s 2-1 win over with WBA – 22 of youse got that!

17 got the 3-0 at The Etihad and eleven got the 4-0 between Inverness & Morton.

9  got the 3-0 in Leicester & six got the three-one featuring Chelsea entertaining Southampton.

5 got Huddersfield 2 Burnley 1, 4 got the “Desmond” involving Spurs & Man Utd & four more got Arsenal’s imperious 0-3 win at Cardiff City

Anders H/Alex R/Jon T got the 2-1 for Donny over The R’s &  Jon T (again!)/Mark S/Dan P got Villa 0 Sunderland 0.

Savan A & Dom W got Albion 1-0 Motherwell (HOW???! I had the draw @ 6/1!!!), Julian F & Jamie T got the one-three win for Derby against Wigan and Dan R & James C nailed Newport 3 Chesterfield 2.

Dom W (again!) got Posh’s 1 -0 win against Wolves.

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Paul Carter for his Home-&-Away-inspired, West Ham 3 Fulham 0.

Week 9 nightmare update!

Hi,

Ok, you should be able to save ALL your scores online bar the Dundee Utd v Kilmarnock cup tie so we’ve decided to VOID that game and make it a 29 match week!

Soz, but i’m a cyber-spaz…

Cheers

Pab

Week 9 nightmare!

Yep,

You’re not going mad, the Dundee Utd game is unsaveable (if that is actually a word) and yep, the scoresheet actually disappeared for about 15 mins a bit earlier.

I have no idea how to fix it so you’re best off emailing your Dundee Utd score in to me on [email protected].

Hopefully all the other scores will save and any previous scores sent in haven’t been affected – dunno.

It might be we void the game  – dunno.

Shall we go back to Word docs??!

Cheers

Pab

PAS Lucky 13 Winter 13 Week 8 round up

Some Kind Of Wonderful”: Rob C was tweeting his delight (remember to add the #pabpas Bobert!) at Chelsea’s 3rd goal on Sunday as he clocked another correct score on a high scoring week without very many correct scores. Surely five would win it then? He didn’t see the Buxtons coming up on the rails though and whilst Simon B caught him, Jack Buxton 41 (7) stole a lead a kept it! Well done Jack, £20 coming your way – you can pay your dad back now! #therestofusknowJack!
What’s Going On”: Oh joy! The missus had a ‘mare! Michelle Fernandez 11 (1) is missing the the old skool “you read ’em out & i’ll tell you the scores” Saturday morning non-researched routine… #youretheSp*rsofMCR
Correct Score of the Week:
Hmmmmm, not a lot of us did very well this week… most popular score was Leicester’s 1-2 win over Ipswich Town – 28 of youse got that!
17 got the last minute fest 3-1 at Celtic Park and eight got the 2-2 between the Yam Yams & the Brummies.
5 got the 0-3 in the East End & five more got the St Mirren 0 Hibs 0.
Anders H/Me/Will O got Hull 0 Palace 1 and Clare T/Martin S/Simon B the nil-nil draw featuring Blackburn against Reading.
Ian P got Steveange’s 0-1 win against Peterborough.
However, this week’s best correct score goes to Jason Morris for his the-syndicate-will-*heart*-me-for-this, Dundee Utd 4 Partick Thistle 1.
Bet of the Week:
This week’s 75p trixie went as follows –
Votes: 36 – come on people get involved!!!
Selections: QPR-Charlton 16% /Celtic-Aberdeen 15% /Hull-Palace 14%
Prize Slot: 44th
Returns: £1.15
As the qualifying question didn’t really make any sense I split the bet between “home team winning to nil” & “both teams not to score” – my belief in Palace was justified!
Don’t forget to cast your vote every week but make sure you do it before 10am on Saturday

Table News:

Let’s Get It On“:

Pete Britton stays in top spot, now 15 points ahead of the fast improving Danny A, who in turn is one point in front of Paul H in third.

Rob C, Jamie T & Tony M crash the Top Ten – Jack B is the highest climber…

Too Busy Thinking About My Baby“:

Dan Rayner stays stuck to the bottom but has has another Palace man in Howard T to keep him company – but like Palace, they’re fighting back they now both two points adrift of Reda A who in turn is 2 points behind another Dirty Leeds fellow called  Dave T – Michelle F falls furthest…

PAS Lucky 13 Winter 13 Week 7 round up

Breakfast In Bed”: I was lovin’ the “International/Village team” fixtures this week especially when that 95th minute penalty went in for Bradford on Sunday. I thought I was nailed on to win my first PAS money in a long long time (and make it a lovely weekly win double for the PAS Board!). However, another person with doubles on his mind was our good friend “Tricky of the Syndicate”. Yep, Richard Hirst 36 (6) has Les Bleus to thank for securing him another £20 to add to his Week 2 success! #darlingofthesyndicate
Nothing”: By stark contrast, Dave Crisp, Felix Hines, John Hutchinson & Reda Allam 10(1) can’t wait for the “proper” football to return if only to make sure they’re never involved in such a gruesome four-way ever again… #eeeeeewww!
Correct Score of the Week:
Very quiet week, what ya’ll doing?… most popular score was Swindon’s 1-2 win over Colchester – 19 of us got that!
6 got the 0-0 at the Vale Park and five got the 1-3 between Mansfield & Oxford.
4 got the miracle in Paris
Neil M & Norman L got Greece 3 Romania 1.
Dom W got PNE’s 0 -1 win against L Orient.
However, this week’s best correct score goes to Matt Worsfold for his Kerry-Katona-Is-A-Zero inspired, Iceland 0 Croatia 0.

A Ray of Sunshine”: Ahem, erm<cough>, you now how honest we are at PAS Towers don’t you?! If one of the directors won a weekly prize you’d never think ill of us now, would you? No. Good…
Michelle F was pipped at the post by Dave C until Dan Hogwood 33(5) rigged the back office matrix that *he* designed & surreptitiously changed one of his scores to beat Crispy to this week’s £20… #thelastbitsajoke
If You Were There”:…and whilst he was there, he sabotaged fellow IT whizz Dave N’s score so he would finish last.
However, all-round  Leodensian bloke & discoverer of how not lose money on the Man Utd – Arsenal game, Tom Ashford 7 (0), somehow managed to out manoeuvre the cunning Dan H and scupper his plot! #thisisaloweveninLeeds

Opportunities (Let’s make lots of money)”: “Seven!” No, not Strictly and not even Man City! That’s the sound of Pete Britton & Paul Henshaw 38 (7) reclaiming some football-related respect back for Manchester. Despite Ian P’s valiant last game effort to take the weekly £20, they both held hands to cross the line – a city united…bless. That’s £10 each boys, don’t do anything rash like betting on your respective clubs to win a trophy this season now! #capitalgains

PAS Lucky 13 Week 1 round up

Here Comes Your Man”:
Just like his team he dropped the “Suso” this season and just his team he immediately started reaping the benefits! In fact he’s gone one better than his team by being on the actual top of the league!
Ryan “ex-Suso” Graves 38(7) has, ironically, got Everton to thank after they capitulated to Man City despite taking the lead – that 5 pointer edged Ryan 1pt ahead of the hapless Steve M (he had real issues with the new system this week!) who himself was holding off Danny A. Congrats Rhiannon, you’re our first official online winner! #thisishistory
Debaser”:
If you’re gonna fail you might as well fail in the first week eh! Vim Gupta 11 (0) is all alone at the bottom despite Dave T’s best efforts to keep him company. Commiserations Vim, you’re our first online loser! #f*ckhistory
Correct Score of the Week:
Quite a few correct scores knocking about (this online malarkey is suiting you!)… most popular score was Man Yoo’s 2-1 win away at Sunderland 21 of us got that!
11 got the 1-3 at Carrow Road and another 11 got the 3-1 between Man City & Everton.
4 got the 1-2 at St Andrew’s & four more got the zero-zero between Bury & Newport.
Julian F/Simon B/Alex R got Forest’s 1 -3 win over Brighton, Gary B/Mark S/Ian P got Charlton 0 Blackpool 0 and Michelle F & Will O got Donny’s 3-0 win over The Foxes.
Simon Lindq got Hibs’s narrow defeat of Partick.
Jamie T got Ross County 1 Aberdeen 0.
Steve T got his team’s inevitable defeat at Derby.
However, this week’s best correct score and therefore best correct of the season so far, goes to Tony Morris for his Palace-actually-scoring inspired, Liverpool 3 Crystal Palace 1.
Bet of the Week:
We had varying degrees of success (actually about 1 degree…) with this last season where the weekly winners used the populist “Goal Rush” method (pick 3, 4 & 5 matches where both teams will hit the net) or the traditional 5 homes, 4 aways & 3 draws.
So, during the beta-testing at the start of the season we introduced the “BotW” poll for everyone to have a say by using the three most popular selections to form the bet – and guess what?! It worked! Until I got involved with my own money…
Anyway, we’ve stuck with it and this week’s 75p trixie went as follows –
Votes: 49
Selections: Man City 24% /Birmingham 15% /Peterborough 13%
Prize Slot: 33rd
Returns: £2.62. Whoo, and indeed, whoo! 40p down, but hey, it’s not the usual £3!
Don’t forget to cast your vote every week but make sure you do it by 10am on a Saturday (or in Week 2‘s case, 1pm on Friday!)

Table News:

It’s Week 1 – it is what it is!

Please be aware we may lose some players but we may gain some (especially as Mr 2-0 had a good showing) so if you know anyone out there who wants to get involved, put them in touch!
