L13 Winter 2009 : Week 13 – Final Table & Round-up

PASers,
Thanks for taking part in our 20th anniversary season – it’s been a (sort’ve) pleasure!

We’ll be back in late January for the second official 20th anniversary “season” – don’t worry, if you didn’t qualify for the Cup there will be an opportunity to play in the League where you can try and qualify for the summers World Cup…now, you don’t want to miss that, do you?!

All “prize winners” will receive their monies this week.

Feliz Natal! And make sure you come back in January…

Cheers,
Pab

ps – don’t forget to do the Poll instead of watching crap Christmas telly…. links here:PAS Poll 2009.

pps – you might notice the Week 13 “movers” and “shakers” are slightly different on the official table attached – that’s cos I’m an idiot and don’t check things properly before sending out the weekly update. God bless Dave N….

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 13 – Update…

“…all is well”:
The North Country Boy Andy Chesworth 33(6) takes the last £20 of the winter season courtesy of one point from Neil O – well done Ches, think you’ll go to the derby semi final now?
“teeth knocked out, lying in a gutter somewhere”:
He came back this season after a long long hiatus and now probably wishes he didn’t… Simon Lindsay 7(0) heads up the last “shame spot” of the winter season – you’re still lovin’ the PAS though aren’t you Si?!
Correct Score of the Week:
Bleak mid winter week due to the postponements… 19 got Arsenal 3 Hull 0, Vim G & Cat J got Hearts 2 Celtic 1 (which was VERY bad news for Richard H!) and Mark Sh & Rich L got Nottm Forest 3 PNE 0. So, this week’s best correct score goes to Danny Bushell for his Rochdale 4 Shrewsbury 0 eight pointer.
Bet of the Week:
We wooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! Props to Martin S for supplying a 6 team home win acca (Cardiff was called off) and putting £7.50 into BotW spot prize slot 65 as well as earning himself a few more pennies to add to his £20 weekly win!

Table News:

“You won’t be sad or broken tonight”:
Final table and round up to follow….
“wishing you were anywhere else but right here”:
As above – but I think you can guess who finished with the wooden spoon…
“you won’t be strung out…”:
Highest climber this week is Dave McSherry up a whopping 13 places to 39th. Honourable mentions for Andy C (+10), Neil B (+10), Mr 2-0 (+13) and Karl C (+12)
“aimlessly wandering through…”:
Falling furthest this week is Simon Lindsay down 17 places to 54th – dishonourable mentions for Mark F (-13), Jamie T (-14), Dan P (-12), Anthony Y (-14) and Anders H (-10)
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of next week, you WILL win these prizes! Details to follow…
PAS Cup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… details to follow!
And Another Thing:
Yes, I know you’re dying to know what songs all those lyrics have been from over the weeks – well, here they are! How many did you get??! Why not make a little playlist for yourself to play on your MP3 thingy. Cos you really should own these…
  • Week 1 – “Raise” – Bocca Juniors

  • Week 3 – “Lloyd, I’m Ready To Be Heartbroken” – Camera Obscura
  • Week 4 – “Time Is My Everything ” – Ian Brown

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 13 BotW

Martin S has gone to Betfair and come back with the following…

7 Homes accumulator:
Villa / Leeds / Cardiff / City / Arsenal / Wolves / Rangers – 25/1
Draw Treble:
Blackpool / Newcastle / Wigan – 40/1
Away Win Treble:
United / Liverpool / Chelsea – 3/1

Result: WIN! Cardiff was postponed, all other homes won!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 12 – Update…

Fairplay award of the season goes to Jamie Tofeili who owned up and admitted he sent his brothers scores by mistake instead of his own last week (thought it was weird the brothers getting exactly the same score!). Slight amendment to the table then, but the Top spots remain unaffected and still set for the closest finish ever on PAS…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 12 – Roundup…

“…like a ladder to the sun”:
We have another “double” winner! Matching Neil M’s feat of two weekly wins in a season, Martin Stafford 36 (7) picks up another £20 to spend the best way possible – betting on the footy! Sticking that score on Honduras Martin?
“Crying, crying, crying…”:
Bless her she must be knackered! Louise Briggs 10 (0) can always cite jet lag from Oz, late night nursing shifts and/or Citeh drawing AGAIN on her poor performance this week…
Correct Score of the Week:
Those Arora brothers must be on predicting drugs… 18 got Rangers 3 St Johnstone 0, 14 got the 3-0 at St Marys and 14 more got the 0-0 at Hull. 13 got Lincoln City 1 Rochdale 3 and 8 got the great Liverpool 1 Arsenal 2. Danny A & Karl C got Leicester 3 Sheff Wed 0 and Matt W & Dave N got Coventry 3 Peterboro 2. Cat J got Aberdeen 1 Hamilton 2 and the 2-2 at Stoke, Tony S got 2-2 at Oakwell and Paul H got the 2-2 between WBA & QPR. Paul J got a much needed 5 points via Hearts 0 Dundee Utd 0. However, this week’s best correct score and of the season so far, goes to Sam Arora for his historic score of Sp*rs 0 Wolves 1
Bet of the Week:
Oh man! Jo L spent sooo long picking her home wins and horrible “no history” Chelski go and spoil it almost immediately! I think we knew Neil B’s selections were going to fail… This means spot prize slot 42 will reward zilch- so don’t end up there on the final table next week! Our only hope of nay reward this season will be reliant on Martin S’s second attempt of the season – come on Martin spot prize slot 65 needs you! (and I might end up there!)

Table News:

“…hit the spot”:
Oh yes! We have a guaranteed grand stand finish on our 20th anniversary season! Timed to perfection, Jazz Sian goes top but only by a point just ahead of Rich L and Neil M. And just a point behind them come Will O and Matt W… all to play for then chaps – good luck!
“Shellshock!”:
Paul Jenner had a reasonably good week and is only 17 points behind Wayne C – can he pull off the great escape?!
“…climb, climb, climb higher”:
Highest climber this week is Dave Nicklin up a whopping 19 places to 44th. Honourable mentions for Neil O (+10), Martin S (+16), Jamie T (+10), Greg E (+14), Paul H (+12) and Sam A (+11)
“Makes me feel like a madman…”:
Falling furthest this week is Louise Briggs down 12 places to 58th – dishonourable mentions for Pete B (-9), Tony S (-9), Nick H (-10), Gareth M (-11) and Mr 2-0 (-9)
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of next week, you WILL win these prizes! Jon A is on the promos at 11th(+5), Stephen S is at 13th (-1), Pete B is at 17th (-9), Rob H is on the BotW 23rd (+1), Tony S is at 27th (-9), Danny B is at 33rd (-9), Mark McD is on the BotW 42nd (+3), Dave N is at 44th (+19), Dave McS is at 52nd (+4), Rich G is at 57th (-6), John McS is on the BotW 65th (non mover), Scott A is at 67th (+3) and Wayne C is at 70th (-2)
PAS Cup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is Michelle Fernandez.
And Another Thing:
The famous PAS Poll is here – have a look, a little think and get involved!!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 12 BotW

As it was a “double winner” week we split the duties – first up the Wigan Peer, Neil Birchall…

It’s a tricky one, I should perhaps wait until the midweek fixtures are over with but to hell with it… Knowing me I will forget.”

Away Win Treble:
Blackpool, Forest and Fulham [24/1]
Draw Treble:
City, Watford, Sheff Utd [39/1]

Next!

Now then, this is how it should be done! Demonstrating how to take this seriously for the sake of those less fortunate in the predicting stakes I present she of the Karen O barnet, Jo Lowe…

Right – here goes then. One day, I’ll show you the piece of paper with all my workings out. I’ve been through at least 12 different leagues and have worked out number of home wins for home teams and number of away losses for away teams, home goal difference and away goal difference, standings in the league and a bit on current form. I’ve scrapped at least 4 original ideas, particularly Spurs as their defence is not good enough… I could not have put more effort in, but please don’t tell anyone that when I only get one flippin’ home win! I do hope this works…

  1. English PL: Chelsea v Everton
  2. English League 1: Huddersfield v Gillingham
  3. Spanish La Liga: Barcelona v Espanyol
  4. Scottish Div 1: Dundee FC v Ayr
  5. Portuguese Liga: FC Porto v Vitoria Setubal
  6. Portuguese Liga: Sporting Braga v Naval
  7. Dutch Eredivisie: Ajax v NEC Nijmegen

4/1 for those little lot – c’mon!

Result: LOSE & LOSE

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 10 – Roundup…

Dear PASers,
Apologies.

I’m just out of the sick pit and it’s not just the horrible week of Arsenal that’s turned my stomach (I definitely have a proper non man-flu illiness as I didn’t even got to Citeh last night…!).
Please find a truncated update (further apologies to the heroes/villians of the week that are denied their spot in the round up light!)…

For the record then –

Week 10 winner:

Olly Osmond 35 (5)
Week 10 loser

Lisa Grey 7(0)
Correct Score of the Week

Crystal Palace 3 Watford 0 (Mark J Brown)
Bet of the Week

crashed again just when the first fruits were within reach, Leeds failed at Kettering!!!

Normal transmission resumed next week!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 11 – Roundup…

“ecstatic there it is”:
There it is indeed! Out first “double” winners of the season see Jo Lowe & Neil Birchall 37 (5) share the spoils to the tune of £10 each – no doubt Jo will be buying the Man City v Chelsea DVD and Neil won’t be buying that Sp*rs v Wigan one. Pies all round again then Neil??!
“and the eyes go teary, the mind grow weary”:
I’ve little cheer and nuffin’ to shout about this season (check the table – *groan*) so I’ll take any ray of sunshine even if it’s at the expense of a Sp*rs fan. Gareth Morgan 9(0) – ha!
Correct Score of the Week:
This season, I particularly hate doing this bit… 9 got Rochdale 3 Macc 0, 7 got the 3-0 at Villa Park, the 1-3 for Rangers and Man City (!), 6 got Walsall 1 Soton 3, Scunny 0, 5 got Celtic 3 Aberdeen 0 and 5 got Everton 2 Spurs 2. Neil B & Dan P got the 0-4 at the Boelyn, Mark McD got 5 points for the Bristol City – Ipswich stalemate and Francesca F rolled her dice and bagged Blackburn 0 Liverpool 0. This weeks best correct score goes to Dave Nicklin for his 9 pointer score of Dundee Utd 3 St Mirren 2
Bet of the Week:
Very very close again! Olly missed his 7 homes thanks to MK Dons having a ‘mare v Yeovil and his 3 draws thanks to WBA failing to hold out for 30 seconds after going 2-1 up at Derby in added-on time – grrrrrr! This means spot prize slot 23 will reward nada – so don’t end up there on the final table!

Table News:

“my presence speak volumes…”:
Oooh the nerves will kick in now… Neil Meredith has a 6 point lead over ever improving Jazz S in second (has he timed it right? Will he win his own trophy??!). Will O and Rich L are both in with a fighting chance too…
“I don’t understand it, on another planet?”:
Oooh no nerves will kick in now… Paul Jenner is now being 19 points adrift and looking very much like a wooden spoon winner. Just above him are Scott A, your truly and Wayne C in a battle royale not to get dragged down if Mr Jenner starts scoring big!
“and the sun bust through the clouds…”:
Highest climber this week is Jo Lowe up a whopping 19 places to 38th. Honourable mentions for Mark J B (+10), Neil B (+18), Lisa G (+10), Vim G (+11), Mr 2-0 (+12) and Mark McD (+13)
“shocked a small act could knock a giant lopsided”:
Falling furthest this week are Gareth Morgan & Julian Fernandez down 17 places to 32nd & 61st respectively – dishonourable mentions for Frankie F (-12), Catriona J (-11), Richard H (-12) and Mark Sh (-16)
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of Week 13, you WILL win these prizes! Mark D-S-C is on the promos at 11th(-6), Shaun B is at 13th (+4), Olly O is at 17th (+2), Mark Se is on the BotW 23rd (non mover), Danny B is at 27th (-3), Simon L is at 33rd (+8), Vim G is on the BotW 42nd (+11), Mr 2-0 is at 44th (+12), Mark G is at 52nd (+8), Savan A is at 57th (-6), John McS is on the BotW 65th (non mover), Gary B is at 67th (-1) and Scott A is at 70th (-2)
PAS Cup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is Gareth Morgan.
And Another Thing:
The famous PAS Poll is coming your way – have a look, a little think and get involved!!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 9 – Roundup…

“Bravado”:
The man who loved a 0-0 last season but seems to have shunned them wholesale this season (wonder why that is??!) has concentrated in putting in proper scores and come up trumps! Jon Allin 31 (4) wins this week’s £20 – Green Army!

“B*stard child of guilt and shame”:
He’s had to watch Denmark AND Portugal qualify for the World Cup from Sweden’s group and now Anders Hoglund 9(0) has a low score to deal with. At least RVP is on fire for Arsenal though… Eh? what? Noooooooooooooo…

Correct Score of the Week:
How on earth… 5 got Brentford 2 Millwall 2 and 5 got Greece 0 Ukraine 0. Jon A & me got a lovely 9 pointer from Bristol Rovers 3 Carlisle 2, Rob H got 5 points from Northampton 0 Grimsby 0 and Francesca F somehow threw a couple of dice (no, really) to come up with Rochdale 2 Chesterfield 3! We have a new best correct score of the season cos this week’s best correct score goes to Savan Arora who seems to be collecting “bests” this season! Huddersfield 6 Wycombe 0 is the new front runner purely for the fact if you watched the game you’ll know it should have been 12!

Bet of the Week:
Oh man……

Table News:

“Some things will never be different”:
No change at the top save Neil Meredith now having a 4 point lead over Rich L – the chasing peloton is now headed up by Jon T… and ominously includes Jazz S!

“Are you hoping for a miracle?”:
No change at the bottom save Paul Jenner now being 2 points behind Wayne C in the wooden spoon avoidance race…

“Running on”:
Highest climbers this week are Mark De-Ste-Croix (again!) and Dan Pelgrom up a whopping 15 places to 7th & 42nd respectively. Honourable mentions for Jon A (+12), Louise B (+11), Pete B (+13) Saven A (+9) and me! (+9)

“Better luck next time”:
Falling furthest this week is Anders Hoglund down 13 places to 49th – dishonourable mentions for Jason M (-9), Catriona J (-9), Greg E (-11), Jamie S (-11) and Mark McD (-10)

7 Homes accumulator:

Draw Treble:
Brentford, Yeovil, Bradford = 37/1 (£19.50/£18.50 split for spot prize slot/Neil)
Away Win Treble:
Burton Albion, Notts County , Ross County = 9/1 (£5.50/£4.50 split for spot prize slot/Neil)

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 7 – Roundup…

“Your sky all hung with jewels”:
He travels all round Europe supporting the mighty Reds and he’ll continue to do so in the Europa Cup this season (‘Ey! ‘Ey!). Another £20 then, for his second weekly win of the season, won’t go amiss for Neil Meredith 40(7)
“Up against your will”:
What’s worst? Getting ID’d in a Wetherspoon’s when you’re 24 years old or scoring 9(0) this week? Neil Osborne was nowhere near Preston for pre-gig drinks before the Enemy played on Saturday but Neil Birchall was….
Correct Score of the Week:
If only Tomas had stuck that chance away before Jody scored… 13 got Toon 3 Peterboro 1, 8 got the tutu at Oakwell and 5 (grrrrr!) got Wolves 1 Arsenal 4. Matt W & Ben McK got Blackburn 3 Pompey 1, Greg E got the only 0-0 available(in Edinburgh), Neil M got Hamilton 2 Motherwell 2, Mark De S C got off to a flyer with Bristol R 2 Southampton 3 and Mark McD got an equally good nine pointer in the South Wales derby. Every week I laugh at my mum when she sends her scores in but she has the last laugh this week – Patricia Fernandez gets this weeks best correct score and the new front runner for best correct score of the season with her Liverpool 2 Birmingham 2.
Bet of the Week:
Another near miss thanks to Celtic – Neil M is playing again to win cash for himself and BotW spot prize slot 23.

“Too late to beg…”:
Falling furthest this week is Julian Fernandez down 18 places to 45th – dishonourable mentions for Mark F (-15), Neil O (-17), Savan A (-13), Stephen P (-12) and Martin S (-12)

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 6 – Roundup…

“…making plenty cash”:
He seems to mirror the form of his beloved Forest and at the moment Tony Bowley 33(6) is in a rich vein of it! Congrats Mr B, at least £20 on its way to you to spend on a corner flag to taunt Derby fans with then…
“…a dose of thrush you got while you were licking railings”:
For most of us another shocking week – especially shocking for Dan Pelgrom & Rich Graeme 9(0)
Correct Score of the Week:

The Smiths, Blur, The Cranberries, Babyshambles, Sleeper, The Ordinary Boys, New Order, The Maccabees, The Mystery Jets, The Zutons, Graham Coxon, The Courteeners and of course, Kaiser Chiefs. Stephen Street 30 (5) can now add PAS weekly winner to his CV of success…
“And sometimes I’m caught in a landslide”:
This season is proving particularly “difficult” and none so more than this week! On the scree slope of sad scores, I present Savan Arora / Dan Pelgrom / Martin Stafford / Neil Templeton / Mark McDowell 6(0)
Correct Score of the Week:
If only those swine flu lot had scored one goal!!!… 9 got PNE 2 Middlesbro 2, 7 had the 0-0 bore-fest at the KC and 5 got comparable thriller of a stalemate at Swansea. Dave C / Tony B / Jon T got the 3-1 between Southampton & MK Dons, and Catriona J & Francesca F got Coventry 0 WBA 0. Rich G got Burnley’s 1-3 reverse v Wigan, my mum (Patricia F) got Man City 2 Fulham 2 (how??!) and Lisa G got the Houdini down at the Boleyn. However, this week’s best correct score goes to Will Oppong for his Barnsley 2 Bristol City 3.

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 4 – Roundup…

Life’s A Beach:
He may be part of that band of LFC supporters that aren’t actually from the city (no, he’s not Norwegian – try Runcorn) but it really hurts when his team surrender the title so early for the, ooh, what is it now, 20th year on the trot? However, winning this week’s £20 should keep Neil Meredith 43(8) in cans of Skol for a good few weeks to help soften the blow…well, he’s not gonna be spending it on airfare to Madrid either is he?!
’Ssup B*tch!:
We at PAS Towers are having a particularly traumatic football season both on and off the PAS pitch – Dave Nicklin 8(0) has now taken it down another notch…
Correct Score of the Week:
I thought it was a bad week… 12 got WBA 3 Reading 1, 7 had the Dingle derby ding-dong at Ewood, 5 got the Arsenal 3-1 and 4 got the nil-nil between Leicester & Derby. Jon A / Mark McD / Will O were rewarded for their faith in the Villa and Mark Sh & Ben McK got the 1-3 Saints win at Oldham. Lisa G got off to a flyer with Scunthorpe 3 Sheff U 1 and the Missus (F) managed conjure up four points from Everton 1 Wolves 1. But, best score this week goes to Vim Gupta for his “I know the SPL” Celtic 0 Motherwell 0.
Bet of the Week:
This is isn’t going to plan as we’ve yet to make money for any BotW spot prize slot or a weekly winner – can the Wool baaa-ck something decent? He’ll be playing for BotW spot prize slot 23

Table News:

“..you’re gonna see it in the fullness of time”:
It’s a “plastics” top two but Rich Lee stays top pegged back to five points by Week 4 winner Neil M. Andy C leads the chasing pack in 3rd
“You’re gonna have to find a way”:
Rich G climbs off the bottom and leaves Dave Nicklin 3 points adrift in 71st
“…don’t you fear anything”:
Highest climber this week is a resurgent Will Oppong up a whopping 29 places to 37th. Honourable mentions for Neil M (+27), Matt W (+20), Michelle F (+17), Stephen S (+15) and Gareth M (+16)

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 3 – Roundup…

“I can’t see further than my own nose at this moment”:
oh what a week! I feel so bad I think I need the doctor…which is convenient as Savan Arora is this week’s prize winner netting £20 thanks to his very impressive score of 45 (6) while all else floundered cursing France, Portugal and Ukraine for scoring one goal too many – well done Savan, don’t forget to rub your bruv’s nose in it!
“I’m ready to be heartbroken”:
He’s been away for a few weeks but John McSherry 11(0) enters back into the fray with a trickle rather than a splash…
Correct Score of the Week:
Bumper week – 19 got En-ger-land, 17 got San Marino’s 0-3, 14 got Portugal’s 4-0, 11 got France’s 5-0, 8(!) amazingly got Kazakhstan to score against Croatia, 5 got France’s other result v Austria and 4 got Portugal’s other result v Hungary. Dan P / Jamie T / Martin S got one of the two Irish 0-0s (Czech v Norn Iron), Patricia F & Louise B had Spain to just edge Armenia and Patricia F (what’s going on Mum?!) / Matt G got the 2-2 thriller in Dublin on Saturday. Jamie T got the other 0-0 (Eire v Montenegro) and Simon L (welcome back Simon after all these years!) got Sweden 4 Albania 1.But, best score this week is Lisa Grey for her inspired 9 pointer that was Italy 3 Cyprus 2.
Bet of the Week:
If I had a penny for every person who said “ooh, I just missed out on a couple of big scores this week” I’d have 9p. Which is 9p more than Martin S brought in for spot prize slot 42…it’s not going well this… maybe the good doctor will cure our ailments…

Table News:

“..you are the crown jewels”:
Rich Lee stays top & opens up an 9 point lead from the fast rising Andy C who in turn, is one point ahead of Mark F
“I’ve got my life a complication here to sort out”:
Debutant Rich Graeme slips to the bottom 1 point away from Jo L and my mum
“Jealousy is more than a word now..”:
Highest climber this week is (clue Cilla) Savan Arora up a whopping 48 places to 15th. Honourable mentions for Jamie T (+44), Nick H (+25), Simon L (+25), Ben McK (+23), Clare T (+27) and Howard T (+19)
"..feeling sorrier for me the more I behave badly:
Falling furthest this week is Scott Angus down 28 places to 54th – dishonourable mentions for Anders H (-19), Martin S (-22), Michelle F (-18), Gary B (-26), Paul J (-18) and John McS (-20)
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of Week 13, you WILL win these prizes! Catriona J is on the promos at 11th(+7), Neil O is at 13th (-7), Nick H is at 17th (+25), Paul H is on the BotW 23rd (-13), Matt W is at 27th (-15), Mark G is at 33rd (+9), Dan P is on the BotW 42nd (-5), Dave McS is at 44th (+3), Howard T is at 52nd (+19), Francesca F is at 57th (+12), Mark McD is on the BotW 65th (-9), Dave N is at 67th (-12) and Jo L is at 70th (-13)

Christine Bleakley – fair play to Adrian Chiles, but you have to say the girl could eat an apple through a letterbox…

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 3 – Meltdown…

In a season already blighted by IT issues, the worst scenario has now happened – the PAS nerve centre has blown up and all appears to be lost (boo hoo!). Last night, I was all ready to abandon this season and just cry and beat the floor with my fists (after the PC natch), but as one stalwart said, “surely if you’ve saved all your sent emails you can piece it all back together?”

The good news is that I do indeed have all my sent emails saved so I can reclaim all the bits I need to put it back together (never trust memory sticks for too long mi amigos!) but it may take some time as this weekend I’m away (DJing tonight and back down in Ldn for the weekend tomorrow).

So… bear with me please, Week 3 result/table will be late (I’ll try and determine the winner so they can do the BotW) but if we press on with Week 4 I should be able to catch up pretty soon…

Apologies for our ineptitude, lessons have been learned (or is it learnt? don’t remember learning that..)

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 3 – Latest…

Week 3 scoring looks like this at the cut off point of half way (I think you can tell who got the France score right..) – all to play for then!

Player | Wk | Corr Res | Corr Scores | Corr Score Bonus | Goal Bonus | Tot Pts
Savan Arora | 3 | 9 | 3 | 1 | 5 | 24
Jazz Sian | 3 | 9 | 3 | 0 | 5 | 23
Neil Templeton| 3 | 8 | 2 | 0 | 5 | 19
Andy Chesworth| 3 | 7 | 2 | 0 | 5 | 18
Ben McKeown | 3 | 7 | 2 | 0 | 5 | 18
Mark Fawke | 3 | 11 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 17
Howard Thomas | 3 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 5 | 17
Stephen Street| 3 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 5 | 17

Martin S has gone the way of the Week 1 Bet of the Week and posted a resounding £0 on all selections – very disappointing… not even his “safe” away treble could earn him a £1 and spot prize slot 42nd, £2!

Week 3 round up on Thursday – Week 4 scoresheets will be round shortly…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 3 BotW

Bet of the Week – we continue… Martin Stafford our Week 2 winner is playing to win cash for “spot prize” slot 42 and himself – here are his selections…

Draw Treble:
Ukraine, Denmark, Czech Republic (38/1 = £20/£19)
Away Win Treble:
Switzerland, Spain, Turkey (2/1 = £2/£1)

It’s feast or famine week – good luck (my scores to follow…)

Result: LOSE

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 2 – Roundup…

“Wanna Kiss Myself…”:
very low scoring week thanks to more random scorelines over the weekend. Rich L was up there again as was Michelle F and her bruvver Danny A (have fun on your US tour!) but king of the week this week is Martin Stafford 29 (5). Well done Martin, £20 to go and treat your Wigan pal to that pudding & pea-wet nonsense…oh, and a can of Coke!
“…in other words, sucker”:
Last week’s worst scorer ended up having a baby (that’s how bad the pain is! Congrats to Clare T & Neil T – we expect lil Lily to be playing PAS next season!) so let’s hope the same fate doesn’t befall Ben McKeown (sort’ve might but it’d be really early) Dave Crisp (no chance, he’d have to sell his scooter) and Francesca Fernandez 9(0) (don’t even go there…)
Correct Score of the Week:
Bleak week – 4 got Bolton 2 Spurs 2 and 4 got West Ham 2 Fulham 2. Best score this weeks is shared by Rich Lee & Mark J Brown for their outrageous punt on Wolves 0 Portsmouth 1
Bet of the Week:
Seems like Rich L wants to keep all his correct results all to himself even though he could’ve earend out of it! All three bets fell woefully short so spot prize slot 23 has the grand total of £0 after one of its four goes. Martin S will be playing for spot prize slot 42 and, of course, himself this week…

Table News:

Bigger:
Rich Lee opens up an 8 point lead at the top from Greg E in second – Danny A & Jamie S share third spot
Rougher:
Howard Thomas slips to the bottom 4 points away from Dave C
Bolder:
Highest climber this week is (clue Cilla) Martin Stafford up a whopping 45 places to 14th. Honourable mentions for Anders H (+23), Michelle F (+26), Anthony Y (+22), Mark J B (+29) and Tony B (+33)
Tougher:
Falling furthest this week is Ben McKeown down 37 places to 54th – dishonourable mentions for Louise B (-19), Paul J (-22), Nick H (-32), Dave N (-18), matt D (-20), Vim G (-23), Francesca F (-27) and Dave C (-23)
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of Week 13, you WILL win these prizes! Mark F is on the promos at 11th(-3), Jon T is at 13th (+2), Mark De S C is at 17th (+2), Neil M is on the BotW 23rd (+7), Stephen P is at 27th (+8), Andrew D is at 33rd (-10), Mark G is on the BotW 42nd (+15), Neil B is at 44th (+17), Nick H is at 52nd (-32), Jo L is at 57th (-5), Rich G is on the BotW 65th (-3), Vim G is at 67th (-23) and Dave C is at 70th (-23)
PAS Cup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is Stephen Street.
And Another Thing:
It’s August, Hmmmm, I know, buy West Ham and sell Arsenal – could I have got it any more wrong??!

Please be aware that Week 3 is International Week and it goes on to the Wednesday (how exciting!) AND if you miss submitting scores for the Saturday games you CANNOT then submit scores for the Wednesday games!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 2 BotW

Rich Lee our Week 1 winner is playing to win cash for “spot prize” slot 23 and himself – here are his selections…

7 Homes accumulator:
Arsenal, Everton, Barnsley, Newcastle, Oldham, Colchester, Sheff Utd (44/1 = £23/£22 split)
Draw Treble:
Burnley, Coventry, Millwall (38/1 = £20/£19)
Away Win Treble:
Bury, Bristol Rovers, Middlesbrough (18/1 = £10/£9)

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 1 – Roundup…

“Raise Your Hand If You Think You Understand…”:
It’s as if the world of football waited for PAS to start before totally random free-scoring matches became the norm – typical… However, Rich Lee 35 (4) is all for random free-scoring matches as one in particular (see below) propelled him to the first weekly prize of £20. Well done Ricardo, you may be collecting a little bit more too if you take to the new BotW format with the same aplomb…

“…Raise Your Standards If You Don’t!”:
She’s probably got back pain, weird cravings, having to go to wee every five minutes and knackered, but now soon-to-be-mum Clare Templeton 11(0) has the added burden of ignominy for finishing bottom of the pile this week.
Correct Score of the Week:
Fourteen got the stalemate at Falkirk, ten got Top Four finishing Man City’s 3-1 against WHam, six got Coventry’s great escape v Boro, five got the opening match “Desmond” between Scunny & Donny, Catriona J / Jon T / Gary B got Blackburn’s surprise win v Villa, Scott A / Mark F / Moi got the lovely 9 pointer that was Rochdale 4 Hereford 1 and Ben McK got Hibs 1-3 at Motherwell. But this week’s (and I reckon Correct Score of the Season already!) Best Correct Score goes to Week One winner Rich Lee for his very impressive guess of Liverpool 6 Hull City 1
Bet of the Week:
Rich Lee will be taking the challenge of winning himself and some lucky “spot prize” finishers some cash. As you can see from my attempt this week it can all go horribly wrong…
Table News:
1st table of the season coming soon…
PASCup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is Shaun Backhouse.
And Another Thing:
Please send your scoresheets back as a “.doc” as our complex matrix just won’t stoop to vile little “.wps” “.docx” or any other un-Word files – also, remember if you’re not around for future weeks play, you can request “upfront” scoresheets so you don’t have to rely on Mr 2-0 to do your scoring…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 1 BotW

Hola,
Scoresheets by 11.59 tomorrow please – there will be no more reminders! Remember if you miss the early kick off you can send in scores for games that haven’t kicked off and if you miss the 3 o’clocks you can send in for the 5.15 game onwarsd etc etc

Bet of the Week in it’s new guise will kick off proper next week but to give you an example, I present the following

7 Homes – Liverpool / Spurs / WBA / Charlton / Huddersfield / Rochdale / Rotherham @ 14/1
So if this came in, £8 (initial £1 stake + half the winnings) would go the “spot prize place” and £7 to the person who selected the bet
3 Draws – Birmingham / Derby / MK Dons @ 34/1
So if this came in, £18 (initial £1 stake + half the winnings) would go the “spot prize place” and £17 to the person who selected the bet
3 Aways – Villa / Man Utd / Middlesbro @ 6/1
So if this came in, £4 (initial £1 stake + half the winnings) would go the “spot prize place” and £3 to the person who selected the bet

Result: LOSE

Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : The new format!

As you may well know, we always ask the Weekly Winner to share his or her football predicting knowledge to help us bash up the bookie in the following week.

This has had varying success. Well, actually it’s had little or no success (bar Dave Nicklin once netting a healthy 8 game accumulator!) and the participants kinda dawdled into it with no real conviction.

We plan to change that.

This season we will take £39 from the kitty and allocate £3 a week to the previous week’s winner to place 3 £1 bets (to be placed by a PAS drone that I can trust. Dave? Is that work experience scally alright to pop over to Fred’s?)

These bets will be a 7 homes accumulator, a draw treble and an away win treble.

Any profit made from these bets will be split accordingly:

  • Half of the profit will go to Weekly Winner who selected the bets
  • Half will go to one of 3 “spot prize” slots (this means each “spot prize” slot will have 4 chances to build up it’s value although if the bets crash out, they could end up as £0!)

Good eh?!

So, it means the weekly winners will now have to take their responsibilities a bit more seriously, after all, they could earn some serious wedge out of it if all the selections come in!

Cheers,
Pabby Power
