L13 Spring 2011 : Final Table News

CL Group Stage:
You have to say it’s been a phenomenal performance to win the title in only your second “season” whilst fending off the top two all-time prize money winners to boot in a, um, thrilling final week… Congrats, you’re a winner – Stuart Longworth 331 (40). Take a boo son! Stuart had a 10 point lead over Neil Osborne in second place, our Week 7 winner who epitomised the topsy turvey peaking & troughing nature of predicting scores this season… the Runcorn ambassador Neil Meredith finishes just 1 point behind in third place and 3 points above El Presidente in fourth spot (I had that first title in my sight and I blew it a la The Arsenal…)
Jazz Sian adds to his amassed PAS riches by finishing 5th one point ahead of Rob Currin (good luck with the knee op mate!) who had a fine season, in 6th.
Pete Britton ended up in seventh place (topping a Blue Moon week!) 1 point above Mark Fawke (hope the christening went well mate!) in eighth, who in turn finishes 3 points above Tony Morris in ninth (and he’ll be celebrating finishing above his brother again!).
Shaun Backhouse finishes in 10th place (and currently involved in a right ol’ ding dong of a PAS Cup Final!) and nets the last of the “big prizes”
CL Qualifying Round:
You have to say he had a right good go at it but Savan Arora takes the wooden spoon this season after a battle royale with my brother to avoid the humiliation of last place! Let’s hope your brother, Vim & Mahli don’t rub it in too much mate!
Spot Prizers:
OK, you have finished on these positions and you HAVE won these prizes! Danny A on 11th, Tony B on 13th, Jason M on 17th, Ben H on 23rd, Dave C on 33rd, Vim G on 39th, Mark J B & Gareth M on 46th, and Mark S on 53rd.
Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS CL 2011/12 you had to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Sneaking the last spot… Will Oppong!
And Another Thing:
The other little bits…
Neil Osborne picked up an additional £10 for getting the Best Weekly Score of the Season – 49(8)
Martin Stafford picked up £5 for getting the Best Correct Score of the Season – West Ham 2 Man Utd 4.
Nick Hogwood and Shaun Backhouse are currently playing out the PAS Cup Final – latest score is 20-21 (don’t worry, you will be kept up-to-date on the final score!)

Thanks again to all for taking time and bothering to enter – and a final big thank you to Dave N for providing all the behind the scenes techky stuff to enable another great season…

We’ll see the Top 32 (for the inaugural PAS CL) and the rest of you in September – remember, spread the word and get all your mates involved for next season!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 13 Roundup

19:
He’s emulated his brother’s final week winning feat of last season! Courtesy of his impressive “big” scoring correct scores, this week (arguably the best week) it’s all come together for Sam Arora 41 (6). Congrats Sam, £20 winging its way to you, bet yer bruv is gutted!
5:
Not the best week to get a lo-score (just ask me!) and unfortunately Simon Lindquist 11(0) did just that…
Correct Score of the Week:
A bumper week for many… Dan P/Sam A/Nick H got the 4-0 at Ibrox, 8 got Boro’s 3-0 v Donny and Rob C/Neil T/Andy C got the 1-2 at Loftus Road. 9 got Wycombe 3 Southend 1, 9 got the 2-1 between Man Yoo & Chelski and Jess H/Will O/Jon A got the 2-1 for Everton. Jamie T & Sam A got Charlton 0 Hartlepool 0 and Jon T got the three-one at PNE. Sam A (again!) got Swansea 4 Sheff Utd 0.

Best Correct Score of the Season?
It’s been there a while! Martin Stafford for his West Ham 2 Man Utd 4.
PAS Champions League 2010/11:
If you’ve finished in the Top 32 you will qualify for PAS Champions League (if you so wish – you can say “no thanks” if you want!) and it’ll cost you a £25 & £20 for the whole tournament!!
Yes, you’ll be paying a bit more for PAS Lucky 13 Winter 11 but remember you are guaranteed entry to PAS Lucky 13 Spring 12 and at the reduced rate! Plus, seeing as you’re *that good* at PAS, you’ll probably be in the PAS Cup anyway fighting on three fronts for glory & cash and who knows, maybe a historic treble!
And Another Thing:
Thanks to all who took part – another great season, please play again!

Cheers,
Pab

Spring 2011 : Cup SF Replay & L13 Week 12 Roundup

“A gift that you give to me”:
If you look at the current table you’ll see the age old adage of “cream rising to the top” reflected in the fact that the two all time top PAS earners are currently sitting in the sliver & bronze places. One them has even gone on to take this week’s honours – yep, he’s back! Jazz Sian 32 (5) did just enough to oust Nick H & Neil T to secure yet another £20. Surely he can’t win another league title and get this trophy back… can he??!
“Indeed a fool of mine”:
Sp*rs fall foul of dodgy decisions. Simon Lindsay scores 8(0). Schadenfreude? Moi? Ha ha ha….
Correct Score of the Week:
Who’d of thought we’d win 1-0? Actually, no one… most popular score was Liverpool’s 3-0 win over the Magpies – 13 of you got that! 10 got the 2-1 at The Hawthorns, 5 got Doncaster’s 1-1 v Leicester and 4(!) got Celtic’s 4-1 against Dundee Utd.
Jess H / Pab / Mahli G got the 2-2 between Sheff U & Barnsley and Pete B & Michelle F got Kilmarnock 2 Hearts 2.

“I found low”:
Julian Fernandez stays bottom of the pile now only 5 points (maybe he’s not doomed!) behind the Arora brothers who are still neck and neck in the sibling disgrace race…
“Heaven smiles above me”:

PAS Champions League 2011/12:

PAS Cup:
Result for the Semi Final replay attached – congrats to both finalists!
And Another Thing:
Why oh why did we have to win and help that lot from West London out?!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 11 Roundup

“Inhibitions dissipate”:
As we go into the final straight of the season, it was nip & tuck for the Week 11 winner and Stuart L was pipped at the post by Pete Britton 39 (6) to the £20. Congrats Pete, that’ll probably pay for a couple of beers at Wembley in a couple of weeks eh?!
“Now my mind’s disintegrated”:
A whole host of Mr 2-0’s disciples floundered this week but Jessica Hirst 10 (0) actually put some scores in, so really has to take the unwanted mantle of being the week’s worst – sorry Jess!

And Another Thing:
Congrats to Ben H who gets married (in the footie season??!) this Saturday (he had to move it from the Friday for some reason…) – I’ve briefed the best man to include the full time scores as PASers Nick H, Jamie S and Dan P will be there (see how thoughtful I am?!)

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 10 Roundup

“Can you afford that luxury?”:
It’s Danny time again – he wished it was Week 3 again but Week 10 will do just nicely! Dan Pelgrom 36(5) just pipped Rob C & Neil O to the £20 weekly prize – how did you manage to get that many points Dan??!
“But I’ll just keep my mouth shut”:
Mirroring Palace’s plunge into abject misery, Gary Blackburne 12(0) probably wishes he was a Gooner like me – oh, maybe not…
Correct Score of the Week:
I have no idea how you did it… most popular score was Everton’s 2-0 win over the Riversiders – 21 of you got that!

PAS Cup:

And Another Thing:
Au revoir Arsene….

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 9 Roundup

“And then I feel it”:
We have our first double weekly winner of the season – stand up Danny Ashworth 43(7) – a fine performance on an overall fine scoring weekend! £20 to bet on a Berba hat-trick at the weekend Dan?!
“Lately find it hard to keep the pace”:
Really not the week to score the lowest points tally – Dan Pelgrom 9(0) will be wishing it was Week 3 again…
Correct Score of the Week:
You were all back on it this week… – most popular score was Man Utd’s 2-0 win over the Cottagers – 25 of you got that!

PAS Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2011/12, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is…the little lady – Jessica Hirst.
And Another Thing:
Maybe this is why Palace offloaded “Judas” Wayne all those years ago… he’s a mug!

“Can someone talk me thru what I’m seeing? Ronaldo sold to Spain for 160mill?? Does that mean he can jus change country and play for Spain?” – QPR midfielder Wayne Routledge takes to Twitter upon hearing that Cristiano Ronaldo had been “sold” to Spain in a bid to aid Portugal’s economic recovery, as reported in this morning’s Independent.

“Ok, ok… #aprilfools #gotme” – Routledge, 10 minutes later.

“If I make mistakes I’m sorry, I’m only human …” – Routledge’s Twitter bio

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 8 Roundup

“Make it easy”:
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh he had to rob his little boy’s piggy bank full of money made from modelling to play PAS this season – well, now Danny Bushell 36 (6) only has to put back £2.50 to call it quits as he walks away with £20 from a horrendous week for most! Well done Daniel son, now, can Chelski make it an even better week for you??!
“Momentary phase”:
I guess the only consolation for Howard Thomas 11(0) is that he’s not alone this week clocking up the worst score – come on down Dave Crisp & Gary Blackburne…
Correct Score of the Week:
Shocker of a week… – most popular score was Wycombe’s 2-0 win over the County of Stockport – 20 of you got that!

Norman L (again!) & Mark S got St Mirren’s win over surprise scorers Hamilton and Jess H / Michelle F / Mark S (again!) nailed Hibee’s 2-2 at home to the Jambos.
However, this week’s best correct score would have been Neil T’s Cardiff 4 Derby 1 but it goes to Martin Stafford for his (look at the camera) effing inspired new best correct score of the season, West Ham 2 Man Utd 4.

And Another Thing:
£41 for Blackpool away??! And we’ll get beat…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 7 Roundup

“And you said you know the score”:
International week brings mixed reactions but usually some high scores littered with bonus points. This week was no exception with Neil Osborne 49(8) accumulating the biggest score (and best to date to boot) and walking off with £20! Nice work…
“Well, are you really so stupid”:
I guess the only consolation for Howard Thomas 18(0) is that his low score this week is the best lo-score this season?
Correct Score of the Week:
Not as many as you’d think got nabbed… – most popular score was Eng-er-land’s 0-2 win over Cymru – 17 of you got that! Gary B & Jessica H got the 2-2 at Dean Court, 9 got Bulgaria’s stalemate v Switzerland and 4 got Cyprus’s 0-0 against Beja-, I mean, Iceland. And Another Thing:
Holland scored 9 and Huntelaar didn’t score???!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 6 Roundup

“I begin dreaming…”:
I… wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon!!! It’s been on the cards for a few weeks now and, like Tiger’s new swing, my new strategy is starting to pay off! Despite that little Brazilian at Chelski denying me 3 more points in the 93rd minute, I managed to stave off Rich L to come home with 40(7) – feliz dias!
“I looked out this morning and the sun was gone”:
Ooops! Maybe I should heed what can happen when you hit the upper echelons – Dan Pelgrom 9(0) is feeling the pain…
Correct Score of the Week:
Some fine individual performances… – most popular score was Ipswich Town’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe Utd – 19 of you got that! 5 got the 2-0 at Bramall Lane, 4 got Blackburn’s “Desmond” v Blackpool and 8 got Preston North End’s 2-1 against Coventry City.
Four got the 2-1 between Dagenham & Charlton and 10 got Hamilton Acca 0 St Johnstone 0. Jess H/Michelle F/Tony B got MK Dons win over not-so-free-scoring Peterboro, Danny B got Arsenal’s 2-2 at the Hawthorns, Sam A got the two apiece for Palace & Derby and Rich L nailed Pompey’s 0-1 at Leicester.
However, this week’s best correct score, and best of the season so far, goes to Gary Blackburne for his inspired and quite obviously lucky, Hearts 3 St Mirren 2.

And Another Thing:
Goals On Sunday, mes amigos, Goals On Sunday…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 5 Roundup

“And we used to think it was impossible”:
You may well know that Adele’s omnipresent album is named after her years, but it could easily be a collection of paeans dedicated to one PASer who has had to wait 21 years for his first weekly win. Yep, stand up Gary Blackburne 31 (5) your long wait is over mi amigo – and just to put a cherry on top, that injury time Norwich goal meant that you edged out a pair of Fernandezs’s (Fernandezi?) in the process! Congrats, £20 to spend a on a few plastic bottles you “lost” at QPR or a Doogie cup n saucer set (or whatever tat they’re passing off as merch in the Palace shop these days…)?
“After all that we’ve been through”:
Another fairly unpredictable week tripped up this pair – Howard Thomas & Vim Gupta 10(0) are probably not that bothered really as they haven’t lost *that* much ground overall… the lucky gits!
Correct Score of the Week:
Man it was desperate… – most popular score was St Mirren’s 1-1 with Aberdeen – 16 of you got that! 8 got the 3-1 at Carrow Road, 5 got Dundee U’s 2-2 v Motherwell and Gary B & Martin S got Stockport County’s (see, Andy C! County!) 0-0 against Burton Albion. Julian F & Will O got the 0-3 between Scunthorpe & Leicester and Mark J B (ever seen him and Chicarito in the same room?!) & Olly O got Derby Co 2 Swansea City 1. However, this week’s best correct score goes to Yours Truly for his inspired and fairly obvious in my eyes as Boro shipped five the week before, Portsmouth 0 Middlesbrough 0.
PAS Cup:
Results for the Quarter Finals attached – you may, like me, vomit at the sight of one particular points tally someone went through on… Losing QFs, consolation for your pain is some money!

PAS Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2011/12, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… Watford’s own – Richard Lee.
And Another Thing:
We’ll stick with the Arsenal this week as it’s a kind of sick catharsis for me… Sam A (who I think is Sp*rs and obviously feeling like a pig in sh*t currently…) sent this over for my perusal –

Stats gurus Opta have kept detailed records for eight years and the Gunners have recorded a miserable new low. An Opta spokesman said: “There have been 981 Champions League games since 2003-04 and Arsenal are the first of 1,962 sides not to manage a shot of any form in a match since then.”

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 4 Roundup

“And the girls move from thrill to thrill”:
“You can’t win anything with kids…” Well, actually in PAS, especially this season it seems, you can! The U10s have done it again with Jessica Hirst 32(6) claiming this week’s £20 – well done Jess, I bet Josh’ll be gutted being the odd one out! Now, if Reading hadn’t scored that 5th goal, it would’ve been me – grrrrrrrr…..
“Forget that you are sick”:
Yet another unpredictable week scuppered most people’s scores (at the moment, this season has to be one of the lowest scoring ever…) more so, Tony Smith 9(0) who was left floundering and flapping….
Correct Score of the Week:
A few, a few… – most popular score was St Johnstone’s 1-1 with Hibs – 14 of us got that! 6 got the 0-0 at Pride Park, 8 got Chelski’s 1-3 v Blackpool and Mahli G & Mark J B got Norwich’s 1-1 against Preston N E. Will O got the 3-0 between West Ham & Stoke and Sam A got Nottm Forest 0 Hull City 1, Jessica H got Scunthorpe’s 1-0 victory over The Swans. “On the tightrope walk”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 13 places is Richard Hirst – dishonourable mentions go to Neil T (-9), Julian F (-10), Nick H (-8) and Tony S (-10)
PAS Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2011/12, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… El Presidente – Moi!
And Another Thing:
Even with 13 men we wouldn’t have beaten those tippy-tappy freaks…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 3 Roundup

“So rolling out my best…”:
Man, what a torrid week eh? I mean, it was so bad I dreamt we lost to a team from Birmingham in the last minute of a Cup Final…what? Oh. One fella who had a dream week was Dan Pelgrom 40 (6) who really put a marker down in a week where most players struggled to hit 20 points – well done Dan, you’ve got Fabio to thank for your £20…
“…you left the room”:
I fear the sibling rivalry banter will be fierce let alone the barracking the “syndicate” are probably handing out at this very moment – Jason Morris 7(0) is our biggest loser in a week of many losers…
Correct Score of the Week:
Not that bad considering – most popular score was Bristol City’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe – 16 of you got that (including the disciples of Mr 2-0)! 6 got the 4-0 at Ibrox, Jamie T / Dan P / Mark F got Man Yoo’s 0-4 v Wigan and Martin S / Clare T / Mark S got Millwall’s 0-0 against Nottm Forest. Pete B & Neil O got the 0-3 between Middlesbro & QPR and Vim G & Neil O (again!) got (sob) Arsenal 1 Birmingham City 2. However, this week’s best correct score goes to Stuart Longworth for his inspired, albeit dour, Aberdeen 0 Hearts 0.

Table News:

PAS Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2011/12, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… current champ – Shaun Backhouse.
And Another Thing:
Only a handful of you signed up to Pete Britton’s fantastic season long “Dream Team” competition (get signed up for next season kids – it’s only a £5!) so would have missed weekly insights such as this…

“Nearly didn’t make it tonight. I was on my way home from work today and this guy was in my way so I smashed him in the side of his head with my elbow. There was a cop standing on the corner but luckily for me he didn’t see the incident. Unluckily for me, the whole thing got caught on CCTV. So, I was marched off to the station. The Chief Inspector looked at the CCTV footage and decided that yes, I had clearly deliberately smashed this guy in the side of the head. However, unbelievably, as there was a policeman in the vicinity, I was let off on a technicality. Even though he clearly didn’t see it. As I said, unbelievable. If you didn’t know better you’d think that my dad was best mates with either the copper or the chief of police (or both) … No, but seriously folks – how can Rooney be allowed to get away with that?! Clattenburg is a blatant liar – he clearly didn’t see the incident – that’s why he shrugged his shoulders at the time. And the FA refuse to stand up to Ferguson and United … again. Spleen vented… for now.”

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 2 Roundup

“…in seas where schools of fools be first”:
Looks like thirty six points is very popular tally this season! Last week it won one little lad forty quid but alas it only wins you £10 this week as both Danny Ashworth & Howard Thomas 36 (6) somehow managed to match the exact winning score from Week 1…
“day by day sigh even worse’”:
Oh dear! The role of embarrassing dad has come quickly to Vim Gupta 13 (1) as he limps in last in quite a tight week to be fair!
Correct Score of the Week:
Another round of fine predicting – most popular score was Forest’s 2-1 win over Cardiff – 14 of you got that! 6 got the 3-0 at St Andrews, 7 got Leeds’s 2-2 v Norwich and 12 got Swansea’s 3-0 against Doncaster. Mahli G / Mark F / Jamie S got the 1-1 between PNE & QPR and Dan P / Dave C / Scott H got Scunthorpe 0 Derby 0. Simon Linds / Jazz S / Rob C got Man City 5 Notts County 0 and Rob C (again!) / Olly O got Stoke City 3 Brighton 0. However, this week’s best correct score goes to Jessica Hirst for her very brave Fulham 0 Bolton 1.

Table News:

“I just can’t help believing”:
Howard Thomas moves up 14 places to go 3 points ahead of Matt G who in turn is 1 point ahead of Ben H in third.
“…though believing sees me cursed”:
Ooops! Charlie Harris goes down 2 places to the bottom of the pile one correct score behind Jon T.

PAS Champions League 2011/12:

Gonna be away in future weeks? Well, you’ll be able to find scoresheets up to and including Week 6 from this site very soon!

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 1 Roundup

“Your ship to send off”:
We have a debutant winning in his first week! Mahli Gupta 36(6) stole in to take the £40 rollover weekly prize just beating Richard H to the post. Well done Mahli, you’re under 1 year old and you’ve won a PAS week already! (Hmmmm, I wonder if granddad will take a fee….)
“I’d rescue you now”:
So, in keeping with the young ’uns making the headlines, our second youngest player, Jessica Hirst 10 (0) might want to rope in of her grandparents in for help next week…
Correct Score of the Week:
Not many correct score knocking about but 16 of you got Barnsley 1 Ipswich 1 making it the most popular correct score this week – 4 of us got the stalemate at Ewood and 13 got the 1-3 victory for Celtic at Dundee Utd. However, this week’s best correct score and therefore best correct of the season so far, goes to Martin Stafford for his inspired (albeit, spiteful) Liverpool 1 Wigan 1.
Bet of the Week:
Has been “rested” this season due to spectacularly bad performances – if any of you would like to impart any betting nous and give us a tip, please do at your leisure. We won’t berate you if they fail… promise!
Table News:
Week 1 table to follow once I’ve worked out the prize money splits! Actually, I’ll send one anyway but it will look a threadbare…
PAS Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2011/12 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… the current champ, Shaun Backhouse.
And Another Thing:
Lots of payments have come in – thanks! Anyone who hasn’t got round to it, please do as soon as possible – do’t make me chase you!

Cheers,
Pab

Lords, Ladies & Gentlemen, we kick off PAS L13 Spring 11 on week-ending 11 February – I think the easiest way of doing this… …is this!

For those who DIDN’T finish in the Top 32 (if you can’t remember, have a look at the league table!)

It’s £25 in for PAS L13 Spring 11. If we get drop outs from the Cup qualifiers and you get to sneak in – I’ll refund you a fiver – how’s that? Let me know ASAP if you’re in and get your payment in even quicker.

For those who DID finish in the Top 32 it’s £20 in for the L13 Spring 11 AND the PAS Cup 11 – we kick the CUP off on week ending 28 January (draw to follow soon).

***A new feature this season – PAS Cup R1 will be over TWO legs just to make it even more exciting!***

Please let me know if you’re NOT playing so we can recruit from those outside the Top 32.

I NEED ALL CONFIRMATION & PAYMENTS BY JANUARY 22 PLEASE!!

Cheers,
Pab
