PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’15 Week 4 round up

Swoon”:

A right ol’ ding dong at the top  of the shop this week with a 10 pointer seemingly sending the £20 down south for a change…however, Mark Fawke 39 (8) stole in on the blind side to snatch the weekly prize away from our Dan H (just as well – keeps the conspiracy freaks at bay…) courtesy of just 2 correct scores! Now a fully fledged Scouser, Mr F keeps up the winning run for Merseyside and might even use his winnings to visit Croydon for a change (where was ya Saturday fella??!!)

Sometimes I Feel So Deserted”:

If you’re gonna be bad you might as well be consistent about it! No, not you our Dave N (although you really are keeping the conspiracy freaks at bay!). Step up Debbie Lee 10 (0) you really are shaping up to be the new Francesca F!

Correct Score of the Week:

Thin on the ground this week,  i’ll vouch for that! – most popular score was Sheffield Drawsday’s 1-1 with Hull – 30 of us got that!

Twelve got Watford 0 Arsenal 3

11 got Leicester’s latest comeback v Southampton

Julian F got the 0-0 between Preston & Cardiff.

Neil C happened upon Ipswich 0 Huddersfield 0

Neil O kinda knew Glenn Murray would score at Man City for the 5-1

However, this week’s best correct score, and new correct score of the season, goes to Dan Hogwood for his Championship-tastic, Derby 4 Wolves 2!

Bet of the Week:

Erm, cos it was such a fractured week (read: I couldn’t get to the back end report in time on Saturday – duh!) I decided to put 3 of my own selections in, and erm, they only all came in!!!

Genius, me!

For the record, Arsenal, Hearts & Toon did us proud…

So, £18.14 goes on to “Bet of the Week” slot 45th. Bonus. Brucie bonus!

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’15 Week 3 round up

Smart Thing”:

There’ll be dancing on the streets of L6, Kirkby & um, Dubai this week! Not because Romelu has scored another correct score winning goal (it was Naismith this week!), more cos ex-Guardian Scouse favourite has come good! Mark J Brown 52(6) missed the first 4 games (!) but picked up 18 points from 2 games over the duration that ultimately put him way in front of the peleton gathered on the mid-to-late forties mark (yes, you Charlie H, Tony D & Rowan M!)

Congrats lah, £20 towards shipping a cheesy nudger from Greggs over to the Middle East?!

Slowness”:

Really really not the week to lose ground! So not getting 20 or more points was always gonna put a real dampener on proceedings…

Neil Osborne 18 (0) really should be in your thoughts as you look down on him with your 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 correct scores… let’s hope he nailed an acca with the bookies then!

Correct Score of the Week:

“I was ONE goal out of 17 results this week….” Yeah, yeah, yeah –  you, me & 80 others mate…  – most popular score was Eng-er-land’s 0-3 win in the town of Lithuania – 23 of youse got that!

Sixteen got Austria 3 Liechtenstein 0

13 got Spain’s 4-0 deconstruction by a million passes of Luxembourg

11 had Belgium to beat Israel three goals to one

6 got pompey’s 1-3 win at Cambridge & six more have Steven effing Naismith to thank for Scotland’s 0-6 in Spa, i mean, Gibraltar.

Five got the 2-2 thriller at Gigg Lane & 5 more got the Azzuri’s 1-3 win in the often misplet Azerbaijan

4 got the 3-2 at Bramall Lane

Rob C / Dave N / Richard H got the 2-2 between Yeovil & Dagenham.

Josh H & Charlie H made us all green by happening upon Switzerland 7 San Marino 0

Mark F kinda guesshed Holland 2-3 Czech Republic

However, this week’s best correct score, goes to Tony Davenport for his sending off assisted shock, Crawley 3 Orient 2!

Bet of the Week:

Erm, cos it was such a fractured week I decided to put 3 draws on off my own scores, and erm, only one came in? Soz…

Back to normal this wee, we will persist…!

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’15 Week 2 round up

“Heart & Soul”:

There’ll be dancing on the streets of Birkenhead, Merseyside & um, Manor Park this week! Not because Being Brendan has taken leave of Anfield, more cos the Guardian’s own whipping boy has come good! Alex Rossi 35(5) ironically has Everton’s Romelu Lukaku to thank (this is becoming a regular thing!) for the 1-1 that nudged him in front of the unlucky Peter M (who managed to notch 7 correct scores – how??!).

Congrats amico mio, one to tell that Norn Iron housemate of yours about??!

“Disorder”:

If you’re gonna fail you might as well do it like, erm, Man Utd? Newcastle?!

From the sublime to the ridiculous. Neil Critchlow obviously spent his twenty quid from last week’s win on brain eating meths as he joined Paul Carter on 9 (0). Ooooof!!

Correct Score of the Week:

It was really difficult this week, non? – most popular score was Burnley’s win in the town of Rotherham – 26 of us got that!

10 got the 3-1 at Hillsborough

8 got the 2-2 between Swansea & Spurs.

Jamie T & Debbie L got Wigan 0 Walsall 0

Neil H (welcome!) & Mark S got Charlton 2-2 Fulham

However, this week’s best correct score, and new best correct score of the season, goes to Simon Lindsay for his outrageous, Chelsea 1 Southampton 3!

Bet of the Week:

So, the new “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular amongst the 78 of you who entered predictions and guess what?! Big big fail!

Yep, turns out 78 can be as wrong as 20 odd of you!

Hmmmm, we will persist…!

Table News:

“Candidate”: Satisfyingly Peter Morley moves up 3 places to go 6 points ahead of Ian P who in turn is three points ahead of Andy C in third.

Alex R, Paul h & Ryan G crash the Top Ten.

“She’s Lost Control”: Ooops! Norman Lee goes down to the bottom of the pile (actually he went up 3 places but we’ve lost some randoms who said they wanted to play then went off somewhere to play twatty Fantasy Football or something…) one correct score behind the luvved up Dan H (see what it does to ya Dan??!) who in turn is 2 points off & Debbie L.

“A Means To An End”: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 34 places is Alex Rossi – honourable mentions go to Paul H (+24), George T (+28), Mark S (+32), Sam C (+20), Jamie S (+30) and Stuart F (+22)

“New Dawn Fades”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 33 places is Francesca Fernandez – dishonourable mentions go to Paul C (-26), Andy F (-25), Martin S (-28), Paul V (-22), Shashi A (-20) and Danny A (-21) – see what getting married does to ya Danny?!

PAS L13 W15 Week 1 round up

We’re off and running!

Scary Monsters”: He’s a bit of monster that Romelu fella eh?! What’s even more monsterous is the fact he single handedly (is that a word?) got Everton out of the proverbial hole for a 2-3 win on Monday! And you know what 2-3 means don’t ya? Yep, 9 whole points! For one match! Imagine that?! One person who didn’t have to imagine, merely bask in smug realisation, was Neil Critchlow 39(6) who, courtesy of Msr L, stole in to take the £20 weekly prize when it looked like Pete B had it in the onion bag. Well done Neil, a fine week to win as you don’t have pay me your entry fee now (well, only £3!)!

Super Freaks”: Is your surname Lee? Oh dear! Well…one of your clan finished above Howard T’s measly nine point haul this week! However, Debbie Lee 5 (0) will probably be forced to change her name after this absolute shocker – oops!

Correct Score of the Week: Wow! Quite a few correct scores knocking about (despite the mad scorelines)… most popular score was Man Utd’s 3-0 win over Sunderland – 32 of us got that!

7 got the 1-3 in Milton Keynes and 6 got the “Desmond” between West Ham & Norwich.

Dave C, Tony D (welcome!) & Neil M got the 2-2 in the Toon and Jamie T, Alex R & Neil M (again!) got the three-nil between Boro & Dirty Leeds

Gary B & Paul V got the 3-1 involving Southampton & Swansea.

Francesca F & Tony D (again!) just knew Ipswich would draw 2-2 with Bristol City and Simon Linds & Neil T got a fine Bolton 2 Brighton 2 (lots of 2-2s eh?!)

Tony D (again! again! Blimey!) got Inverness Caley’s 2-1 thriller v previously unbeaten Aberdeen.

Steve M got Burnley 1 Reading 2.

However, this week’s best correct score and therefore best correct of the season so far, goes to Lukaku worshipping, Neil Critchlow for his what-the-hell inspired, WBA 2 Everton 3.

Bet of the Week: We’ve got a new system. We tested it this week. It works. And it gives real time indication of exactly who you lot think will win, lose or draw! And, best of all, you don’t have to do anything at all (well, except put your predictions in on time!)

We’re gonna roll it out it in Week 2!

Expect, ahem, the coffers to be swelled and the bookies to be cowering!

Table News:

It’s Week 1 – it is what it is! Click here for details…

Please be aware we may lose some players (rubbish people) but we may gain some (Mr 2-0 can’t be that bad again!) so if you know anyone out there who wants to get involved, put them in touch tout suite!

Lots of payments have come in – thanks! Anyone who hasn’t got round to it, please do as soon as possible – don’t make me chase you!

Cheers,

Pab

Football season started this weekend and…

…Predict-A-Score will be back in your life at the end of September!

Bet you can’t wait eh? Well, start saving your pennies cos the obligatory 4,378 reminders will be winging their way over to you soon but until then, have a go on this…

Dream Team 2015-2016

“Stop enjoying the reality of the Ashes and Froome dominating the Tour de France, it’s time to start dreaming! Yes that’s right, the 2015-2016 is only a few weeks away. So, set yourself some time aside before August 8th (the entry deadline) to come up with the killer combination for 2015-2016. The format is the same but it doesn’t get any easier I’m afraid!

It’s still only £5 per entry so if you’re struggling to narrow your options down, you can always have 2 (or more) goes! And as usual, you are actively encouraged to pass it around to friends, family, work colleagues and pretty much anyone else – the more the merrier!

Oh yeah, before I go, I finally got around to do some analysis of the 2014-2015 season and it makes very interesting reading. James Wood won the overall competition with a seemingly impressive total of 3701 points. However, there were an incredible 192,784 combinations that would have beaten James! Some of which cost as little as £70,000 – the blindingly obvious choice of Stoke, Crystal Palace, WBA, Watford, Bournemouth, Brentford, Rochdale, Gillingham, Rochdale and Wycombe would have cost you £70K, netted you 3757 points, and won you £160! But the best possible combination would have been home and hosed before Easter, finishing with a massive 4583 points. That elusive combination? No Chelsea. No City. Not even Arsenal. The best possible combination of teams for the 2014-2015 season would have been Stoke, Swansea, Crystal Palace, Watford, Bournemouth, Brentford, Bristol City, MK Dons, Wycombe and Exeter. Food for thought …

At the other end of the table, Carole Williams finished bottom with 1591 points but I hope that this next paragraph will make her feel a bit better. Carole’s selection was actually only the 594,759th worst combination (and that is just for the combinations costing the full £100K!). Yes, that’s right, there were nearly 6 hundred thousand worse combinations than Carole’s. Or to put it another way, well over half a million! And what was the lowest of the low? It reads like a who’s who of underachievers and these clubs featured prominently in the managerial sacking speculation (and actuality) stakes for pretty much the entire season. Netting a pathetic total of 620 points were … Newcastle, Aston Villa, QPR, Wigan, Millwall, Blackpool, Crewe, Yeovil, Tranmere and Hartlepool.

Right, that’s it from me for now, time to get those football brains ticking over again …” – Pete Britton

If you want to get involved (and believe me you do!) email Pete ([email protected]) and ask him for an entry form!

Cheers,

Pab
