L13 Winter 2010 : Week 9 – Roundup…

“Walking 'round the room singing…”:
Back in 1989 I started PAS just to mug off my then work colleagues cos I knew more about footy than they did. How? Cos I pored over results, stats, tables, form etc for mere pleasure and used this to take money off unsuspecting “victims”. As PAS snowballed to become what it is today, I’ve found myself second in the all-time earners chart (a poor second behind the Jazzenator mind) so my ambitions were realised on an even grander scale! However, over the last few seasons my “knowledge” isn’t paying dividends thanks to unpredictable English & Scottish leagues and a new breed of PASers are reaping the rewards! Yes, Michelle Fernandez 38(6) has won her 3rd £20 in two seasons thanks to her “you read out the fixtures and I’ll think of a score” technique that takes all over 80 seconds to complete… I want to weep. And we lost to Sp*rs…..
“Things ain't cooking in my kitchen”:
Things are looking up though as my little daughter Frankie Fernandez 10 (1) is obviously taking after her dad and studying form to ill effect as well! Actually, as her nan does her scores, does that mean I take after my mum??!

Another fine win sir, £20 will be paid to the syndicate post haste!

L13 Winter 2010 : Week 7 – Roundup…

“Now our lives are changing fast”:
Very close week this week and it turns out to be a bit of a mystery man who is the winner – just pipping Charlie H courtesy of his QPR 3-1, Paul Henshaw 36 (7) takes the weekly £20. All I can tell you is that he’s part of the sinister Seelsy syndicate and that he probably won’t even see his winnings as it all goes to the greater good of the “treasurer’s” bank account…
“I was left standing in the wilderness downtown”:
Thought I might see this young fellow at my brother’s party on Saturday but after Sp*rs losing to Bolton I wasn’t surprised by his absence. So, Simon Lindsay 7(0), I’m even less surprised you didn’t turn up…!
Correct Score of the Week:
Quite thin on the ground this week – most popular score was Blackburn 2 Wigan 1 – 19 of us got that score! 4 got Blackpool’s 2-2 against Everton, 4 got the 3-1 between QPR and The Royals and 18 got St Mirren 1 Rangers 3… Shaun B / Savan A / Scott A got Coventry 2 Leeds 3 and Rob C & Gareth M got Norwich City 2 Burnley 2. However, this week’s best correct score goes to Rich Lee for his inspired Cardiff City 0 Swansea City 1.
Bet of the Week:
Anders went for it and… failed. Can Paul H halt the bad form??

And Another Thing:
Congrats to Mark Fawke on the birth of his son Benjamin last Thursday – a day later and he surely would’ve been called Guy?

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2010 : Week 6 – Roundup…

“I don’t mean to brag or boast just to tell ya I’m great”:
Absolutely smashing the opposition and he had a chance to get the best tally this season, Anders Hoglund 44 (8) takes the weekly prize. Not sure how far £20 will go in Gothenburg, but if he doesn’t spend the dosh on young George, I know a great little mini-golf course he can wile the hours away on…
“You can’t talk because you suffer from paralysis”:
Not even your team humiliating your nearest neighbours can take the pain away from scoring 8 (0)…yes, Geordie Dave Nicklin, it’s you!
Correct Score of the Week:
Tuff week if you’re not a Viking! – most popular score was Barnsley 1 Hull 1 & Portsmouth 2 Nottm Forest 1 – 15 of you got one or both those scores! 6 got Celtic’s 0-3 against St Johnstone, 6 got the 3-1 between Cardiff and The Canaries and 5 got Villa 0 Brum 0… Vim G & Andy C got Palace 0 Swansea 3, Charlie H got Middlesbro 1 Bristol C 2 and Jessica H got Rangers 1 Inverness C T 1. However, this week’s best correct score goes to Anthony Yearwood for his inspired Wolves 2 Man City 1.
Bet of the Week:
Mark F spat his dummy out when I banned his proposed “Canadian” and failed to submit any selections – the good news is that spot prize slot 42nd now has a whole £3 against it!

Table News:

“So be quiet and let an educator teach this”:
Shaun Backhouse stays top now 9 points ahead of Andrew D and these two continue pulling away from the chasing pack as Neil M is a further 11 points behind in third. Tony B moves into the Top Ten intent on keeping his title…

PAS Cup 2011:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2011 (and pay a reduced entry fee!) you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is…the music man, Mark Grey.
And Another Thing:
That goal couldn’t have happened to a nicer team….

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2010 : Week 6 BotW

N/A

L13 Winter 2010 : Week 5 – Roundup…

“unexpected you pretend…”:
We always have a “yo-yo” player and this season it appears to be Andrew D! From 9(0) last week to 41(7) this, he was just beaten to the post by Mark Fawke 43 (8). Our “Drazic” (remember “Heartbreak High” kids?!) is one of the old skool and hasn’t won some dosh for a while – I remember when he used to spend it on wine, women and erm, wrong but I trust this £20 will be banked for Kid A that is imminently due…
“staring at your hands for the answer”:
Rooney does a u-turn but still it’s grim for our Man Yoo friends! Martin Stafford 8(0) will face a major barracking, from one Wiganer in particular I’ll wager…
Correct Score of the Week:
Bit thin on the ground this week! – most popular score was WBA 2 Fulham 1 – 16 of us got that! 10 got Newcastle’s 1-2 against West Ham, 10 got the 3-0 between Hearts and The Buddies and 12 got Hull 1 Pompey 2! Will O/Scott A/DaveN got Coventry 3 Barnsley 0… However, this week’s best correct score and new best correct of the season so far, goes to Stephen Street for his inspired PNE 4 Palace 3.
Bet of the Week:
This. Is. Not. Good. Another dismal failure…

Table News:

“still concerned you’ve not kicked the habit…”:
Shaun Backhouse stays top now 4 points ahead of Andrew D and these two continue pulling away from the chasing pack as Josh H is a further 9 points behind.
“stick it out until the end”:
Savan A is off the bottom of the pile and now 2 points (and 2 places!) ahead of Mark Shakespeare (did someone say Macbeth?). Gareth M is now only one point from the wooden spoon spot and a real battle royale is developing at the foot of the table!
“curious to see if you would play the same”:
Highest climber this week, up a whopping 32 places is Mark Fawke – honourable mentions go to Matt G (+14), Stuart L (+15), Rich L (+21), Jason M (+21) and little Anders H (+16).
“remember what you set out to do…”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 23 places is Martin Stafford – dishonourable mentions go to Neil T (-17), Ben H (-13), Gary B (-11), Sean P (-15), Jazz S (-15) and Simon Lindq (-11)
PAS Cup 2011:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2011(and pay a reduced entry fee!) you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… the music man, Ben Hogwood.
And Another Thing:
This was the first week Clare T managed to get some scores in and she quite rightly predicted the deluge of 2-0s!

Cheers,
Pab

6 Homes:
